• Ifyouhappentowashtoomuchout,easilyre-stiffenbydilutingsomestabilizerscrapsinwateranddippingtheiteminthesolution.

For Very Soft Lace:• Cutawayexcessstabilizer.Removeremainingstabilizerbyrinsingunderwarmrunningwateruntilalltracesofthestabilizeraregone.Note:Iflaceshouldbecometoolimptoworkwith,dissolvestabilizerscrapsinwarmwaterandapplytothelace.

Handy Hints:For 3D Lace Projects:• Adhere2layersofheavyweightstabilizertobackoffabricswithtemporaryadhesivespraybeforehoopingorplacingdownfortackdownandcutinplace.Thisgivesfabricamorerigidstructure.

• Rinsingoutlacewithveryhotwatercancausewrinklesinsomefabricsafterithasbeenembroidered.Topreventthis,pre-shrinkcottonfabricbywashingitinwarmwateranddryingitinadryer.

• Ifitembecomestoolimptoworkwith,irontheappliquépiecesonthewrongsidewhileapplyingspraystarch.Afterironing,sprayagainwithstarchandallowtodrycompletely.Thiswillstiffenthelacepiecesnicelyandaidinconstruction.

• Apairoftweezers,hemostats,stilettooratinycrochethookcanbeextremelyhelpfulwheninsertingthebuttonettesintotheeyelets.(PleaseseeDiagram 1forexplanationof“buttonette”and“eyelet”.)

• Insertthetipofthetweezers,hemostatsorcrochethookintotheeyelet,graspthebuttonetteandpullthroughtheeyelet.Orastilettocouldbeusedtopushthebuttonettethroughtheeyelet.

Sample Collection 4Pre-Cut Appliqué Instructions

1. Print out the necessary pages from the PDF of the appliquè pattern(s).2. Mark the right side of the pattern pieces so you’ll know which direction to lay the pattern on the fabric.3. Lightly spray the wrong side of the pattern pieces with temporary adhesive spray and allow it to set for a few minutes. 4. Place the pattern pieces on the right side of the fabric and carefully cut them out. PHOTO 15. Sew the placement stitch on your hooped fabric. PHOTO 26. With the paper still stuck to the right side of the appliqué fabric, spray the wrong side of the fabric with temporary spray adhesive.7. Place the fabric inside the sewing placement stitch so that it matches the stitching line, and then remove the paper pattern. PHOTO 38. Sew the tackdown. PHOTO 49. Sew the remainder of the design and repeat for any remaining pieces. PHOTO 5

NOTE: The patterns are sized for the designs as they were made. If you resize the design, you will need to resize the pattern the same amount. You can print out the pattern at the normal size then copy it on a copy machine at the changed size. For example, resize the designs to 80%, resize the printed pattern to 80%.

TIP: When Printing the patterns, make sure that the “Fit to page” option is UNCHECKED in the Print Dialog Box. If this option is checked the printed patterns will not be actual size.

Supplies:• HRFive T M Temporary Adhesive SprayT M

1. You will need a piece of fabric large enough to cut out the bookmark twice. 2. Print the template for the design. 3. Fold the fabric in half so wrong sides are facing. 4. Place the template pattern on the fabric.5. Cut out both the front and back bookmarks at the same time using the template for the design. Fig. 16. Hoop one layer of Badgemaster or AquaMesh.7. Sew the first color. Fig. 28. Spray the back of the front bookmark piece with HRFiveT M

Temporary Spray AdhesiveT M . Place it in the area sewn by the first color matching up the edges of the fabric with the stitching line. Fig. 3

9. Sew the remainder of the design except the last two colors. a. When you get to the second to the last color, take the hoop off the machine but do not

unhoop the stabilizer.b. Spray the wrong side of the back piece of the bookmark with the temporary spray adhesive. c. Turn the hoop over and place the fabric back on the back of the bookmark aligning it with

the front piece. (This is where Badgemaster is sometimes easier to work with because you can see through it.) If you use AquaMesh you will need to align it with the stitching line.

d. Make sure this piece of fabric is adhered very well.

e. At this time, change the bobbin to match the upper thread.

10. Place the hoop back on the machine and continue with the last two colors.

11. Remove the hoop from the machine and the stabilizer from the hoop. Tear away the excess stabilizer. If you use AquaMesh, you may need to cut the excess away and put your bookmark in water to dissolve the excess AquaMesh.
