Sample A Between a poem and a reflective essay that discusses the value of a celebrity now in my life, I would choose a poem. All celebrities, whether its Miley Cyrus or Hitler, mean different things to society. I think that a poem can explain and touch what they are and what they mean to us in a more creative and functioning way. To me, a poem has more emotion and thought put into it. Like Martin Luther King Jr., for example, in a poem you can express your feelings and opinion towards what he did and what happened to him. While in a reflective essay, you still can give your opinion, but it is still filled quite an abundant amount of facts which at times, makes it boring. Poems are creative with their unique choice of words and fun rhymes. Those sentences, long or short, stick, staying in people’s minds, not coming out like gum in someone’s hair. People remember poems more than essays. In my Strategies for Success class, I had to memorize both and it was way more fun to memorize the poem. I would choose a poem if I had to pick between a poem or a reflective essay. They are creative, stick, and all around fun to remember. Both explaining and touching what the are, poems would be the better option for me in order to discuss the value of a celebrity now in my life.

my life, I would choose a poem.

Sample BTo finish my celebrity work discussion, I would write a reflective essay. It would be

easier to write, and longer than a poem. Also being able to write more, would help me to explain more and really go into detail.

One reason I wouldn’t write a poem is, because for one I’m not very good at writing. Another reason is, because I like writing sentences, rather than writing lines with rhyming words.

I also think an essay would be easier for the reader to read and understand. I know this, because I have experienced this before. And it’s not interesting, or fun to read something you don’t understand. So writing an essay would be easier for the reader and me.

Yet I do think writing a poem would be interesting, because I do like a challenge. It also depends on the amount of time given. Poems take time, especially if it’s a rhyming poem. You have to find the correct words that make sense and rhyme, and when I try to rhyme my mind goes blank.

So those are my reasons why I would prefer to write an essay, rather than a poem. Although a poem would be kind of fun to write, I think it’s best for everyone that I write an essay.

Sample CI would choose an essay because it can give a whole idea about the topic you

are going to write about or explain. If you write in a poem you wouldn’t really understand the idea or concept. If I

were to write it in an essay form on how we need to change certain celebrities, would you understand me more in an essay or a poem with lots of weird words?

I think an essay gives a better understanding of topics. I also think that writing an essay would be much more easier if I was to brainstorm. In an essay you don’t need words to rhyme with another certain word.

Some children just don’t understand the concept of a poem and why sometimes you have to rhyme word and probably never will. If it was an essay then they might be able to understand. After all they do have lots of experience with paragraphs and might understand what we are trying to explain.

So in point I think an essay would explain much more about a certain topic.

I would choose to write a reflective essay becuase you could choose who you would want to write about. I think that for this topic we are currently writing about an essay would be a better papper to write. Because you are not all writing about the same person as all the other people that were reading the same book. So we could hear alot of different pappers about different people there may still be a few that are the same but not like if we had to write about our person from our book that we read.

When I think of a present day celebrity I normally feel hatred and I feel that for a good reason.

One celebrities today don’t deserve all of the fame for corrupting my generation. Like Miley in my opinion is the worst of them all, and I’ll give reasons later.

Two they don’t do anything for the betterment of our society, like help the needy or donate to slums and ghettos.

Lastly they are not good influences at all to my age group. Miley is promoting money, sex, drugs, most most of all twerking! Not all but most girls at our school try to twerk and they think it is cool, when it is gross. On top of all that Miley gets paid for promoting all that nonsense to any age.

So all in all my generation of celebrities are all messed up.

Sample A2What is the true definition of celebrity? I mean. Should it really be a person who pretends to be who

they aren’t just to please others, or be innapropriate and crazy to put on a show? Well, I believe otherwise. Now a days celebrities are bad rolemodels to not just young children, but teens as well. Do you really

want our future generations to be innapropriate and out of control like the celebrities that they look up to. For example, sometimes it isn’t always that obvious to us, the lines in shows, or the lyrics to songs that children watch and listen to. The lines or lyrics could have cuss words, or talk about things like, drugs, drinking, partying, sneaking out, dressing innapropriatly, or being disobedient, etc. That list could go on forever and those are all things that are being taught to younger people and influencing their choices in life. So tell me, is that what you want you or others to be like?

To be a celebrity, I think that you should be a positive rolemodel, and should have done something to improve lives or society in general. Rosa Parks for example, she put herself at risk of going to jail because she was sitting in the front of the bus. That is celebrity worthy, I believe because, she showed everyone how unfair blacks were treated, and was part of the end of segregation. The end of segregation was an improvement in society because it brought two groups together as one to form a better community. So therefore, I believe Rosa Parks is worthy of being a celebrity.

Now an example of celebritys today such as Miley Cyrus, rappers, etc. all encourage Drugs, drinking, sexual activity, innapropriat clothing and other things of the sorts. Is that something that you want for the future generations to be exposed to? I mean they are going to make up the world after us, and honestly I don’t want them to be exposed to bad experiences, and bad lifestyles?

Do you want a community crazed with drugs and drinking or a happy healthy community? You decide.

People in this society have lost sight in who is and who isn’t a celeberty. When there weren’t all these killings that’s when people knew what “celeberty” means. Now a days people think that even though they are known they think that Bam! I’m a celeberty but what they don’t understand is that’s‘ not how it works. People have to work very hard to be famous. They have to study, practice, or maybe even know what they are doing is for a good cause. Not going out and kill a random person just to get noticed. It is not only CRUL but it is IDIOTIC and SELFISH. They have no clue on what that kid or adult has gone through. This proves my point the out-look on celeberty is completely different that what it used to be.

Sample C2The Change that Jackie Has Done to Us

You may not realies how much just one person,Could change the society. Not just our society has changed,How much he has changed us. Even now to this day myself,

I look at things different, because of what he did to our society.

The biggest change that Jackie has impacted our life with, Is that blacks can play the mayjor league baseball. How he did that was with the will power, he had.

Jackie was an influence to the kids so they don’t give up,On there own goals.

Everyone is not the same.We were born to make our own goals,

Some maybe bigger than others. And they won’t all change the society like Jackie’s did.

Sample D2Reflect, look back on what you have learned, said or done. I would choose to

write a reflective essay when discussing my views on the meaning of “celebrity.” An essay gives me more than a poem.

To start off, when writing a reflective essay you may answer questions you may have had about your views. When you reflect, you may remember a fact you head and say, “Oh, well that makes much more sense!” I know from experience, when I reflect, I think more deeply into what I have made of my topic.

Next, on the topic of celebrity views, you can see who is deserving of the title, “celebrity.” You might say a movie star is a celebrity but they are plain terrible to people. Reflective helps you see what is real.

I understand that a poem gives creativity and poetic justice but, you are just going to write about a person. An essay helps you see how the affect society.

Over all, when writing about my views I feel with an essay you have more options to go off of. You can dive deep into meanings of celebrity. I know that writing reflectives helps me more than a poem.
