Dear Friends,

Recent years gave SAMKO the opportunity to grow fast. We have expanded our domain

of services into new geographies; the Gulf Region and Kazakhstan. Besides mechanical,

electrical building services, SAMKO became also a leading steel structures engineering,

contracting and fabrication partner for the construction industry, under the leadership of

Mr. Selami Gürel.

One of our subsidiaries became the leading EPC Management company in Turkey for

Power Plants and the total capacity of power plant contracts signed through their assis-

tance reached to 3600 MW.

We are quite excited to start a new venture; application of energy saving technologies for

new investments, as well as energy audit and retrofit of existing facilities.

To recognise an opportunity in one geography and carry it to others, to find out that a cer-

tain application is very efficient in one service division and to copy it in other divisions is

quite an interesting challenge.

Our business unit managers are our project managers. Growing is directly proportional to

the number of our available project managers and associated teams. It is essential to con-

tinuously train them to get equipped with latest project management techniques. At the

same time we have to choose and train the junior engineers to be the future project man-

agers.

Good human resources management and training are crucial for sustainable growth in our

business. We must be sure that during growth, corporate culture is transferred and shared

evenly by the new participants and not diluted or lost.

Operating in different geographies necessitates application of special management and

decision support tools for efficient monitoring and follow up of the business. For this,

SAMKO started implementation of a flexible ERP system and we are continuously devel-

oping it and usage is being expanded to every geography we operate in. We believe that

this will help us create better “accountability” and consequently our “productivity” will be

increased; which means being more “competitive”...

Growing in international markets necessitates well recognition by international financial

institutions and this needs transparency. SAMKO Group financials are audited every year

in accordance with International Accounting Reporting Standards. We are expanding our

base of financial institutions which we cooperate with and we are establishing stronger re-

lationships with them.

I appreciate efforts and participation of each and every member of SAMKO Group in this

venture.

General

Until 2007, all contracting activities in Turkey or abroad (except the ones taken over by

local SAMKO companies located in different countries) and steel structure fabrication

works in Ankara, were both managed by SAMKO Engineering Co. Inc. in Istanbul, the

parent company of the Group.

In 2007, these two activities are separated and contracting projects mentioned above are

taken over by SAMKO International Contracting Co. Inc. whereas, steel structure fabrica-

tion works are managed by SAMKO Engineering & Construction, Contracting Co. Inc.

This separation is enabled easier management of these two different types of business

activities.
