Presidential Program

The first presidential post still, after the Taef Agreement, entitled by important powers and capable to play a pivotal role in guiding the Lebanese political life compass in the right national direction, if it is held by a President selected by the Lebanese through their representatives.

• The most important challenge that I want to stand for through my candidacy for the presidential elections, lies in the application of the Constitution and ensuring the application of laws in order to return to the State its own decision and to re-establish the State standing. There is no country in the world that accepts to share its authority and decision with any party or movement, so there will be no indulgence or complacency towards the principle that only the State has the exclusivity of acquiring weapons, or to be under its command.

• Our judicial system is not in a good shape. When we talk about the judicial system reforms we should mention two fundamental issues for their moral importance: the death penalty and the reform of the prisons condition. Therefore, I see the need that Lebanon gets fully committed to the abolition of the death penalty in accordance with the United Nations Conventions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

• It is required to purify the work of some security and military forces from deficiencies and re-placed them on the right track. Also, we should reinforce the partnership between the public and private sectors, especially in the power and telecommunications sectors, develop the financial markets, modernize the Trade Act and reduce the bureaucracy. We should establish a national committee to stimulate tourism, and create free zones that contribute in accommodating our workforce and increasing the exports. We should not forget the need to re-open Kleiaat, Riyaq and Hamat airports and activate the ports activities.

• It is necessary to approve the administrative decentralization slip laws, apply the health card as well as adopt the educational card. We should control the corruption, waste, and deficit. We should not tolerate the actual status quo of the crossing points, and I will not be indulgent with customs and excise issues. I am determined to re-launch the project of establishing an independent Ministry for the emigrants.

• In the region, I am keen to support the Arab Spring movement as a cross-border liberated movement, despite the missteps that this spring is suffering of, and despite the declination that sometimes secedes from the revolution concepts that have been founded on the right and freedom. I strongly condemn the fundamentalism of all kinds, the atonement, the extremism and I will fight it unabated because of its danger and terrorism.
