Dear Friends,

Muraho! – That means “hello” in Rwandan.

We are so excited that you are interested in hosting your very own Same Sky Trunk Show. You will have a ball! Hosting a trunk show is all about getting people together and sharing in the positive energy of ethical shopping! With your help, we are employing and empowering the lives of over 70 female artisans in Rwanda and Zambia.

Same Sky offers HIV positive women in Africa a hand-up not a hand-out, providing them with sustainable employment, the ability to provide for their families, dignity and hope. Their self-esteem has been restored; they feel healthy and beautiful again.

When the artisans crochet the bracelets, they pray so each piece of jewelry is full of positive energy. They think of you too and are so grateful for your support. I can’t thank you enough for your willingness to host a trunk show to continue to spread Same Sky’s message and sustain the employment of women empowering women under the Same Sky.

Thank you and enjoy!

OUR MISSIONSame Sky is a trade-not-aid initiative that provides employment to HIV positive women in Africa. Same Sky aims to provide women the tools to lift themselves out of poverty & lead self sustaining lives by not only implementing artisan training but access to a viable platform for the sale and distribution of their products.

ABOUT THE ARTISANSIn 2009 Same Sky began by employing 4 artisans in Rwanda, all of whom survived the 1994 genocide. Today, Same Sky efforts have reached out & employs over 80 women partnering with three different collectives, Gahaya Links & Avega in Rwanda & Abataka in Zambia. Same Sky artisans have been trained to crochet exquisite glass beaded jewelry which in turn earns them an income - one that is 15 times the average wage of

women in sub-Saharan Africa.

With their earned wages, Same Sky artisans are able to do the following:• Buy groceries for their family • Buy health insurance• Buy uniforms for their children to go to school• Buy mattresses for their children to sleep on• Buy new clothes• Purchase livestock i.e. cow, goat• Starting own business on the side

• Purchase chairs, windows, etc. for their home• Make repairs to their home• Pay for secondary school education• Pay for electricity & water• Purchase a plot of land to grow produce• Pay for transportation to the clinic where they pick up their HIV medication
