Seed Research of Oregon 800-253-5766 541-758-5305(fax) www.sroseed.com Samanta slender creeping red fescue (Festuca rubra L. subsp. littoralis) has long been the standard for turf blends or mixtures where salt tolerance is required. Slender creeping red fescues are excellent for low maintenance sites with short rhizomes for repair and a short growth habit. They can be used for all turf sites from golf greens and fairways to unmown roughs or lawns. Samanta is particularly well suited for use in mixtures on roadsides where salt is used during the winter for ice control. Samanta has high density and medium dark green color. It demonstrates excellent Red Thread resis- tance and good tolerance of low mowing. It can be blended with Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass and other fine fescues in many turf locations. FEATURES Excellent salt tolerance Heat tolerance High disease resistance to Rapid Blight and Red Thread Very fine textured Good shade tolerance Uses - Ideal turf choice for: home lawns, shady sites, golf courses, and low maintenance landscapes BENEFITS Stress tolerance Low fertilizer input Reduced growth for hard to mow sites Fewer pesticides required SEEDING RATES Seeds/lb: 500,000 Seeds/kg: 1,100,000 New Turf: 4-6 lbs/1,000 ft² 20-30 gr/m² 200-250 lbs/acre 225-285 lbs/acre ESTABLISHMENT Germination: 6-9 days under ideal conditions • First mowing: approximately 14-21 days after emergence • First limited use: 4-6 weeks SAMANTA SLENDER CREEPING RED FESCUE
