    Journey to Salvation

Mark 7:6-13 He answered and said to them,"Well did Isaiah prophesy of youhypocrites, as it is written: 'This peoplehonors Me with their lips, But their heart isfar from Me. [7] And in vain they worshipMe, Teaching as doctrines thecommandments of men. [8] "For layingaside the commandment of God, you holdthe tradition of men--the washing ofpitchers and cups, and many other suchthings you do." [9] He said to them, "Alltoo well you reject the commandment ofGod, that you may keep your tradition.

[13] making the word of God of no effectthrough your tradition which you havehanded down. And many such things youdo."

CHURCH teaches. Contrary to what youmight think, they are not always the same!

"Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips ofknowledge...the folly of fools isdeceit...There is a way which seemeth rightunto a man, but the end thereof are the ways

of death...The simple believeth every word:but the prudent man looketh well to his going"- Proverbs 14:7-15.

    Work towards harmony of Scripture

The Bible is Gods Word2 Tim. 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration

of God, and is profitable for doctrine, forreproof, for correction, for instruction inrighteousness,

No private interpretation2 Peter 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy

of Scripture is of any private interpretation,Scriptures must be interpreted in light of two or

more scriptures We find this principle in

Numbers 35:30 Whoever kills a person, the

murderer shall be put to death on thetestimony of witnesses; but one witness isnot sufficient testimony against a personfor the death penalty.

Deut. 19:15 "One witness shall not riseagainst a man concerning any iniquity or anysin that he commits; by the mouth of two orthree witnesses the matter shall be

    established.

2 Cor. 13:1 This will be the third time I amcoming to you. "By the mouth of two orthree witnesses every word shall beestablished."

Dangers of subtracting the Word or addingthe Word of God

Deut. 4:2 You shall not add to the word which Icommand you, nor take from it, that you maykeep the commandments of the Lord yourGod which I command you.

Rev. 22:18-19 For I testify to everyone whohears the words of the prophecy of this book:If anyone adds to these things, God will add to

him the plagues that are written in this book;[19] and if anyone takes away from the wordsof the book of this prophecy, God shall takeaway his part from the Book of Life, from theholy city, and from the things which are writtenin this book.

We cannot allow ourselves to just single outone verse of scripture and say that we are

going to be saved by that. Sometimes peoplesay, "I'm going to be saved by faith" or, "I'm

going to be saved by love," or "I'm going to besaved by grace," or "I'm going to be saved by

baptism" and this only.SCRIPTURAL REFERENCES ON BEING

Ill work real hard and earn salvation. Ill be religious and go to church. My religion teaches it a different way. It doesnt matter what you believe just be

sincere. Im as good as the next guy.

WHATS THE SOLUTION?1. God came to earth as a human being to

bring us back to Himself. If another waywould have worked, Jesus would not havehad to come.

The way is a person! The solution is a saviour!

(Jesus said) I am the Way, the Truth, and theLife. No one comes to the Father, exceptthrough Me! (John 14:6)

All of the major world religions attempt toPOINT THE WAY to truth. But Jesus Christsays, I AM the truth!

    WHATS THE SOLUTION?WHATS THE SOLUTION?

    2. Jesus has already taken care of your sinproblem!

Here we see the grace of God through theperson of Jesus Christ.

John 1:17 (KJV) For the law was given byMoses, but grace and truth came by JesusChrist.

God has made salvation available to usthrough the death of Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:24-25 being justified freely by Hisgrace through the redemption that is inChrist Jesus, [25] whom God set forth as apropitiation by His blood, through faith, todemonstrate His righteousness, because in

His forbearance God had passed over the sinsthat were previously committed,

    What is Grace?

Grace is the unmerited favor of God towardsman. It is Gods free gift to man.

The word expresses that salvation is anundeserved, unearned blessing that Godbestows freely. God does all the work involvedin saving a soul.

  • 7/31/2019 Salvation that Few know about

    14/68

Thus mans salvation is a product of Godsgrace from start to finish. Of course, grace

does not eliminate our choice. God hasgiven us the freedom either to surrender toHim or reject Him, but we can contributenothing positive to earn our own salvation.

Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness which

we have done, but according to His mercy Hesaved us, through the washing ofregeneration and renewing of the HolySpirit,

WHATS THE SOLUTION? 3. God did this for us because He loves us

and He wants us to have a second chanceto be His children through being bboorrnnaaggaaiinn..

God demonstrated His love for us in that

while we were still separated from God by sin,Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

For there is only one God, and one Mediator

Ephes. 2:8 Forby grace you have beensaved through faith, and that not ofyourselves; it is the gift of God,

    Faith in what?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that Hegave His only begotten Son, that whoeverbelieves in Him should not perish but haveeverlasting life.

John 8:24 Therefore I said to you that you willdie in your sins; for if you do not believe that I

Jesus, that we might be justified by faith inChrist and not by the works of the law; for bythe works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

    What the source of faith?

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by

hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The Bible states two kind of faith.

James 2:14 (NKJV) What does it profit, my

brethren, ifsomeone says he has faith but does

not have works? Can faith save him?

James 2:17-18 (NKJV) Thus also faith by itself, ifit does not have works, is dead. [18] But someone

will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show

me your faith without your works, and I will show

you my faith by my works.

Examples of faith that cannot save.James 2:19 (NKJV) You believe that there is one

John 2:23-25 Now when He was in Jerusalem at

the Passover, during the feast, many believed in

His name when they saw the signs which He did.

[24] But Jesus did not commit Himself to them,

because He knew all men, [25] and had no need

that anyone should testify of man, for He knew

    what was in man.

Examples of faith that cannot save.

John 12:42-43 Nevertheless even among the rulers

many believed in Him, but because of thePharisees they did not confess Him, lest they

should be put out of the synagogue; [43] for they

loved the praise of men more than the praise of

    God.

Examples of faith that cannot save. Matthew 7:13-20 "Enter by the narrow gate; for

wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads

to destruction, and there are many who go in by

it. [14] Because narrow is the gate and difficult is

the way which leads to life, and there are few who

find it. [15] "Beware of false prophets, who cometo you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are

ravenous wolves. [16] You will know them by

their fruits. Do men gather grapes from

thornbushes or figs from thistles? [17] Even so,

every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree

bears bad fruit. [18] A good tree cannot bear bad

fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. [19] Every

tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and

thrown into the fire. [20] Therefore by their fruits

    you will know them.

    Matthew 7:21-27

[21] "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,'

shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who doesthe will of My Father in heaven. [22] Many will

say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not

prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in

Your name, and done many wonders in Your

name?' [23] And then I will declare to them, 'I

never knew you; depart from Me, you who practicelawlessness!' [24] "Therefore whoever hears

these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken

him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

[25] and the rain descended, the floods came, and

the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did

not fall, for it was founded on the rock. [26] Buteveryone who hears these sayings of Mine, and

does not do them, will be like a foolish man who

"What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of

Luke 13:23-30 Then one said to Him, "Lord, arethere few who are saved?" And He said to them,

[24] "Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for

many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not

be able. [25] When once the Master of the house

has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to

stand outside and knock at the door, saying, 'Lord,Lord, open for us,' and He will answer and say to

you, 'I do not know you, where you are from,' [26]

then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in

Your presence, and You taught in our streets.' [27]

But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you,

Faith is the means by which man accepts andreceives Gods saving grace.

Man cannot help God in providing salvation, but man does have the responsibility toaccept or reject what God offers. Mansresponse to God in accepting His work ofsalvation is called faith. Thus faith is thechannel through which Gods grace comes

to man. Ephes. 2:8 (KJV) For by grace are ye

saved through faith; and that not ofyourselves: it is the gift of God:

Both Gods grace and mans faith are

REPENTANCE is actually the first step withaction involved that we take toward

salvation. Faith precedes repentance; it is aninward work that causes us to want to repent.

Repentance is an action-filled step knownto God, ourselves and others a private and

often public step bringing about positiveresults in our lives. Because we have a sinfulnature, and have committed sinful acts, it isESSENTIAL that we repent and turn to God.

Repentance1) Repentance is not the same as penance,

which is doing certain acts of devotionrequired by a priest in order to receive

absolution for sin. This is not Biblical, but merely religious tradition.

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we proudly display our righteous deeds,we find they are but filthy rags. Like autumnleaves, we wither and fall. And our sins, likethe wind, sweep usaway.(Isaiah 64:6)

RepentanceRepentance is not merely ffeeeelliinngg ssoorrrryy

for your sins, although that is part of it. Infact, it is this godly sorrow that CAUSESus to repent!

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads tosalvation and leaves no regret, but worldly

    sorrow brings death.(2 Corinthians 7:10)Repentance

Repentance is biblically defined as aturningaround or an about face aninward change of aattttiittuuddee, leading to anoutward change of aaccttiioonn.. Unless both of

these occur, real repentance has not takenplace.

To open their eyes to their true condition so

that they may repent and live in the light ofGod instead of in Satans darkness, so thatthey may receive forgiveness for their sins (Acts 26:18)

Prove by the way you live that you have reallyturned from yoursins and turned to God.(Matthew 3:8)
