till minne av en villkorslös kärlek (in Memory of an Unconditional Love)
Jonas Gardell (b. 1963) is one of the greatest and most distinctive voices in Swedish literature today. Since
his literary debut in 1985, the novelist, playwright, screenwriter and comedian Gardell has time and again
mesmerized the reading audience with moving, stylistically immaculate prose that ricochets off the page.
His unique mixture of humor and heartbreaking episodes fetched from his own life as a member of the
LGBTQ community has made Gardell a trendsetting authorship in Scandinavia. Deeply personal, utterly
unfazed by taboos, and with a humor you can’t guard against, he is finally back with the national No. 1
bestseller, In Memory of an Unconditional Love.
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
In Memory of an Unconditional Love is the story of the (in fiction) late author
Jonas Gardell and his family. A family that is much like any other, except
perhaps for the creative way in which it handles weakness. In the Gardell
family, secrets and unwanted truths have a tendency to change shape,
transforming into legends that – much like a skillfully executed magic trick –
dazzle the eye with a prettier truth.
The best teller of such legends was without a doubt Ingegärd Rasmussen, Jonas’ loving mother. The eccentric Free Church-raised
Ingegärd, born in the not-so-roaring Swedish twenties, was a woman surrounded on all sides by obstacles dictating what a woman
should be. The intrepid Ingegärd took on these ideas, and indeed the world, with the fierce battle cry, “I must be free!”
Ingegärd joins forces with Bertil, a man of the future. Together the two dreamers will face twentieth century Sweden, a rapidly
changing nation. But their life together nearly comes to an end when Ingegärd almost dies while giving birth to their youngest child,
Jonas. Looking down at the helpless bundle in her arms, she realizes that she must survive for the poor child’s sake. Then and there,
mother and son form a pact that’s never to be broken.
In Memory of an Unconditional Love is a novel of epic love, solidarity and betrayal as much as it is a portrait of a bewildering yet endlessly
charming woman. Written with an irrepressible joy and humor, it sparkles even as it cuts deep into life’s most painful moments.

Kaspar colling nielsen
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
Kaspar Colling Nielsen (b. 1974) is celebrated as one of the most original voices of contemporary Danish
fiction. With a style characterized by imaginative and tragicomic tales about life’s existential conditions and
dilemmas he has made a permanent mark on the Danish literary scene. Born and raised in Copenhagen, he
made his literary debut with the critically acclaimed Mount Copenhagen, for which he was awarded the Danske
Bank First Book Award. In 2017, Colling Nielsen won the Holberg Medal, one of the most prestigious
literary awards in Denmark.

In When the Dinosaurs Were Little, Kaspar Colling Nielsen returns to the
narrative which made him a star on the literary sky. The universe in his stories
is as multi-layered and transmutable as ever, giving the reader insight into a
spectrum of topics stretching from that of the origins of dinosaurs, to the impact of surveillance drones on
individuals.
In this collection of short stories, Colling Nielsen guides us through the history of the world – everything that we
thought we knew, and everything that we do not. For example: that a girl’s genitals can talk, eat cheese doodles, and turn pretty
aggressive. Or, that a plumber might have good use of his experiences from a past life as a native American when repairing a
locomotive. Or, that the instinct for violence can be ignited even in the most peaceful family father on a summer day. In these tales,
there exist no limits for how an identity can be molded: all transformations are possible, and both heaven and hell are within reach.

scientists and entrepreneurs found a new community for the affluent, aiming
to combine the most idyllic and attractive elements of the old world with the
latest developments in technology. In this drone-patrolled countryside
paradise now lives gallery owner Stig, his wife, the brain scientist Elisabeth,
their idealistic daughter, Emma, and the painter Christian.
The European Spring is a grotesque and provocative story about freedom, equality and community
set in a near future that is all at once unthinkable, alarming and attractive.

Det europæiske forår (the european Spring)
i thought [The European Spring] was really good. /…/ there are other similarities [between us]. Like the fact that
[colling nielsen] likes to make up stories. in The European Spring he dreams up works of art. as have i, quite often.
/…/ there’s another thing he is good at, one that i myself am pretty skilled at as well. it’s rather subtle: to place real
facts, very probable facts, and facts that are much less probable, on the same level.”

Den röda adressboken (the red address Book)
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
Life is a string of meetings, each one like a pearl on a necklace. We meet and love, we part
ways and reunite, we share in joy and defeat, and we have our hearts broken.
96-year-old Doris has had the same address book since 1928. The little red
book holds her very own pearl necklace, the people she has met and loved
throughout her life. Now Doris lives alone in an apartment in central
Stockholm. Most of the names in her book are crossed over, gone from this
world, and her only visitors are from the home care. Doris’ greatest source of joy are the calls
from her grandniece Jenny on the other side of the Atlantic. One day Doris begins to write
down the story of how she met the people that shaped her life, so that Jenny, who will be the
only one to remember Doris, will be able to share her most precious possession: her memories.

1794 (1794)
Niklas Natt och Dag (b. 1979) debuted as an author with the historical literary novel The Wolf and the
Watchman. Natt och Dag himself has an undeniable connection to Swedish history, being a member of the
oldest surviving noble family in Sweden. When he isn’t writing or reading, Natt och Dag enjoys playing the
guitar, mandolin, violin, or the Japanese bamboo flute, shakuhachi.
Niklas Natt och Dag lives in Stockholm with his wife and their two sons.
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
The year is 1794. A mother mourns her daughter, killed on her wedding night.
When no one will listen to her suspicions, she begs the aid of the only one
left: a one-armed watchman grieving his dead friend. In a hospital on the
outskirts of the same city, Stockholm, a young nobleman agonizes over the
horrific crime he is accused of.
In 1794, the second installment of Niklas Natt och Dag’s historical noir
trilogy, the reader is reunited with Mickel Cardell, Anna Stina Knapp, and the bustling, rotten
world of the late 18th century. Stockholm is about to see its darkest days yet as veneers crack
and the splendor of old gives way to the darkness hiding in the city’s nooks and crannies.

1793 (the Wolf and the Watchman)
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
The year is 1793. More than a year has passed since the death of King Gustav
III of Sweden and the nation is ruled with an iron fist by lord of the realm
Gustaf Adolf Reuterholm. In the wake of the old king’s passing, trust has
turned into a sparse commodity. Paranoia and whispered conspiracies can be
found at every corner.
A mutilated body is discovered in the malodorous waters of Fatburen Lake on
the island of Södermalm. Missing both its legs and arms, the body has been disfigured beyond
recognition. Though Cecil Winge at the Stockholm Police is himself marked for an early death
by consumption, he takes on the case of solving the mystery of the Fatburen corpse. Cecil soon
finds himself entangled in a web of dark secrets and boundless evil, a web with threads reaching
all the way to the upper echelons of Stockholm society.
In his debut novel The Wolf and the Watchman, Niklas Natt och Dag paints a compelling portrait
of late 18th century Stockholm. Through the eyes of the novel’s four narrators the powdered
and painted veneer of the era is peeled back to reveal the frightful yet fascinating reality hidden
beyond the dry facts of history texts. With one foot firmly planted in literary tradition and the
other in hardboiled suspense literature, Natt och Dag has with The Wolf and the Watchman created
an entirely new genre of suggestive and realistic historical noir.

Brawny, bloody, intricate, enthralling – and the
best historical thriller i’ve read in twenty years.”
a J Finn“
In Sofi Oksanen’s The Dog Park, modern-day Helsinki intertwines with the past
of Ukraine’s post-Soviet independence. The corruption of the East meets and
feeds the greed of the West, and at this intersection stand two women. Their
story of loyalty, love and broken trust play out against a backdrop of power
struggles – between influential families, and between the sexes as the lifegiving
ability of the female body becomes a lucrative commodity.
Oksanen moves between psychological thriller and the acutely human as she weaves a
captivating narrative about a woman unable to escape the memory of her lost child, the powers
that still hunt her, and the lies that saved her life. Sharply observant and a master of portraits,
this time Oksanen turns her eye to the fertility business, illustrating the micro-realities of the
international baby-making factories.

Vi er fem (We are Five)
Matias Faldbakken (b. 1973) is one of Norway’s most critically acclaimed visual artists and writers. He is
represented by some of the best contemporary art galleries in the world, including Paula Cooper Gallery
(New York), Simon Lee Gallery (London), Galerie Eva Presenhuber (Zürich), Galerie NEU (Berlin) and
Standard (Oslo). Matias Faldbakken is the author of the highly successful Scandinavian Misanthropy trilogy,
written under the pen-name Abo Rasul and hailed as one of the most exciting and original literary projects
in contemporary Scandinavian fiction. The Hills was Faldbakken’s first novel in nine years and the very first
he wrote under his own name. His highly anticipated follow-up, We Are Five, will be published in Fall 2019.
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
On a barren plot of land three hours north of the Norwegian capital lives
Tormod Blystad, his wife Siv, and their two children. Having left his wild years
behind him, Tormod is now a dependable and trustworthy family man. But,
as in every family, some spaces have yet to be filled. Cue the arrival of
Snusken, the new family dog. When Snusken dies, he leaves behind a vacuum that must be filled. And so one night,
Tormod finds himself in front of the pug mill in the garage, mixing red clay and fertilizer. Unknowing to him, his
efforts will trigger powerful forces of which he does not yet know the scope.
Matias Faldbakken’s We Are Five is a sharply observant, unconventional and entertaining novel, blending adventure, horror, mythology
and science fiction with a hefty dose of raw realism. As unique as Faldbakken’s art, it displays an authorship with an inimitable point
of view and ability to execute it.

the Hills (the Hills)
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
The restaurant The Hills stands at the center of Matias Faldbakken’s novel, a
story of waiters and regulars, chandeliers and cloakroom attendants,
mezzanines and storage cellars, bar managers and in-house pianists. It’s a
continental interior that greets the visitor as they enter the premises, a
downtrodden mosaic of concentric circles on the floor and walls covered in
portraits, drawings, paintings and stamps. The one who guides the reader
through this landscape is a waiter at the establishment, a veteran of thirteen years. With utter
discretion and a complete knowledge of all that goes on in his domain, he is the eyes and ears
of the novel.
The ideas and ambience of old Europe are carefully guarded at the run-down restaurant. A well-
established order wherein everything has its place rules, and little to nothing of the outside
world intrudes. Until the threat of unrest and change comes anyway, in the innocuous form of
a young woman quietly taking a seat among the regulars.
The Hills is an unexpected, smart and entertaining novel about collapsing structures and a world
caught somewhere between diligence and decay. Matias Faldbakken possesses a rare talent for
observation and an uncompromising eye for detail and humor as he pushes the performances of the novel to the point of absurdity,
and does so in a manner that evokes a sense of unease as well as gravity.

“Faldbakken has a way with nonaction. He builds a delicious tension between the paucity of
events and the lavishness of the technique with which they are described. His waiter, though
taciturn while on duty, is a chatterbox as a narrator, providing a busy, intricate analysis until
each minor stumble achieves seismic status. Played in slow motion, his malfunctions
unspool as slapstick with an undertow of dread. as the story moves along, the waiter loses
his sense of who he is and what he’s supposed to be doing so completely that he starts to
seem like a man who could do anything. He’s like travis bickle played by buster keaton.”

all den luft som omger oss (all the air that Surrounds Us)
Tom Malmquist (b. 1978) is the author of In Every Moment We Are Still Alive, the bestselling novel that took
the literary world by storm, and redefined what it means to write about love, longing and loss. A highly
acclaimed poet, Malmquist had already been published twice before his first work of prose reached the
reading audience and critics. Hailed as a “furiously beautiful” masterpiece by the press, In Every Moment We
Are Still Alive became the recipient of several of Sweden’s most prestigious literary awards.
All the Air That Surrounds Us is Malmquist’s second full-length work to date.
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
All the Air That Surrounds Us is a haunting deep dive into an unsolved murder
and the hidden killers behind it: loneliness and alienation. With a vibrating and
sensitive prose, Malmquist uncovers the story of Mikael K, a young man
whose life was brutally ended in a cave one night in 1991. When Tom finds an
old newspaper notice about the murder, he’s instantly pulled back in time to
his childhood, and as he starts to investigate what really happened to Mikael
K, Tom begins to see parallels to his own life. The case turns into an obsession. Who was Mikael
K? And why did he have to die?

Vem dödade bambi? (Who Killed Bambi?)
Finnish-Swedish Monika Fagerholm (b. 1961) has received the Swedish Academy Nordic Prize, the
August Prize and the Runeberg Award, among many others, and is regarded as one of Scandinavia’s
finest literary authors. Her highly musical and literary prose, rich with local mannerisms, literary allusions
and repetitions in a fugue style, in combination with her deep love and understanding of popular music as
a mythical foundation in the lives of teenagers, makes her an outstanding artist. She is one of the truly
original interpreters and chroniclers of our common cultural heritage of the past forty years.

Saga-Lill and Emmy have known each other since childhood but are at vastly
different places in their lives: Emmy is a young mother and married to Mats,
an older investment consultant. Saga-Lill is a former theology student who has
lost her footing. Then there is Gusten Gripe, their friend who grew up in the
polished suburb where the greater part of the story takes place in. But beneath
the surface, the suburb is hiding an old wound: a brutal gang rape that took
place in the house by the lake, the “Crow’s Ship.” Once the home of the affluent Häggert family,
it now houses the only remaining son Nathan.
The violent incident is a thing of the past. The four perpetrators, “the boys,” were all sons of the community. But suddenly Cosmo
Brant, the entrepreneur, returns to the area to make a film about the crime. He wants to call it “Who Killed Bambi?”.
Monika Fagerholm is finally back with Who Killed Bambi?, a novel about female friendship and rivalry, boys at the mercy of each other,
and families breaking apart. This is a novel about careless living, and the death of innocence.

Folk med ångest (anxious People)
Fredrik Backman (b. 1981), made his literary debut in 2012 with the global sensation A Man Called Ove.
Wickedly funny, touching and wise, Fredrik Backman’s novels are odysseys of the ordinary man and
woman, and stunningly moving tales of everyday courage. To date Fredrik Backman has written six highly
acclaimed novels, two heartfelt novellas about life and love, and one non-fiction book about parenthood.
His books have sold more than 12 million copies in 46 languages. The film adaptation of A Man Called Ove
was nominated for two Academy Awards, and will be remade into an American version starring Tom
Hanks.
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
Anxious People is an unreasonably riotous comedy about a hostage drama
during an open house. A failed bank robber locks themselves in with an over-
enthusiastic real estate agent, two bitter IKEA-addicts, a pregnant woman, a
suicidal multi-millionaire and a damn rabbit. In the end the robber gives up
and lets everyone go, but when the police storm the apartment it is… empty.
In a series of dysfunctional testimonies afterwards, the witnesses all tell their
version of what really happened, whereupon a classic puzzle mystery develops around the
questions: How did the robber manage to escape? Why is everyone so angry? And: What is
WRONG with people these days?

“Fredrik Backman is great at relatability. /…/ it’s the tone that

Saker min son behöver veta om världen (things My Son needs to Know about the World)
To my son. I ask your forgiveness already now. For everything I’m going to do wrong. For
everything I’m not going to get. For the minibus. For the shorts. For the “Beer built this
beautiful body” T-shirt. For trying to high-five your friends. This book is for you. A book
about the things I think you need to know about the world. About soccer, IKEA, being a
man, God, and deep-fried Snickers ice cream. About missing car keys and why daddy had
to kill the singing plastic giraffe.
Most of all it is a book about trying to be a good parent. Because I want you to know that I really did the best
I could.
No one googled more than I.
Things My Son Needs to Know About the World is a father’s floundering attempt to explain the world
to a two-year-old. Fredrik Backman humorously strips away all the anxieties and shortcomings
of the 21st century parent in this charming book full of honest fears and unconditional
declarations of love that go straight to the heart.

Vi mot er (Us against you – Beartown #2)
L i t e r a r y F i c t i o n
A small community tucked deep in the forest, Beartown is home to tough,
hardworking people who don’t expect life to be easy or fair. No matter how
difficult times get, they’ve always been able to take pride in their local ice
hockey team. So it’s a cruel blow when they hear that Beartown ice hockey
might soon be disbanded. What makes it worse is the obvious satisfaction that
all the former Beartown players, who now play for a rival team in the
neighboring town of Hed, take in that fact. As the tension mounts between the two adversaries,
a newcomer arrives and Beartown hockey gets a surprising new coach and a chance at a
comeback.
Soon, a team starts to take shape around Amat, the fastest player you’ll ever see; Benji, the
intense lone wolf; always dutiful and eager-to-please Bobo; and Vidar, a born-to-be-bad
troublemaker. But bringing this team together proves to be a challenge as old bonds are broken,
new ones are formed, and the town’s enmity with Hed grows more and more acute.
As the big game approaches, the not-so-innocent pranks and incidents between the
communities pile up and their mutual contempt intensifies. By the time the last goal is scored,
a resident of Beartown will be dead, and the people of both towns will be forced to wonder if,
after everything, the game they love can ever return to something as simple as a field of ice, two
nets, and two teams. Us against you.
Us Against You is a declaration of love for all the big and small, bright and dark stories that give
form and color to our communities. With immense compassion and insight, Fredrik Backman
reveals how loyalty, friendship, and kindness can carry a town through its most challenging days.

Björnstad (Beartown – Beartown #1)
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest,
it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake
stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded
this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe
tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to
compete in the national semi-finals, and they actually have a shot at winning.
All the dreams of this place now rest on the shoulders of a handful of teenage boys.
Being responsible for the hopes of an entire town is a heavy burden, and the semi-final match
is the catalyst for a violent act that will leave a young girl traumatized and a town in turmoil.
Accusations are made and, like ripples on a pond, they travel through all of Beartown, leaving
no resident unaffected.
Beartown explores the hopes that bring a small community together, the secrets that tear it apart,
and the courage it takes for an individual to go against the grain. In this story of a small forest
town, Fredrik Backman has found the entire world. Fredrik Backman knows that we are forever
shaped by the places we call home, and in this emotionally powerful, sweetly insightful story, he
explores what can happen when we carry the heavy weight of other people’s dreams on our
shoulders.

In late 1997, a runaway teenager and her yellow toy robot travel
west through a strange USA, where the ruins of gigantic battle
drones litter the countryside along with the discarded trash of a
high tech consumerist society in decline. As their car nears the

Simon Stålenhag (b. 1984) is the internationally acclaimed author and artist behind Tales from the Loop, Things
from the Flood, and The Electric State. His highly imaginative images and stories depicting illusive sci-fi
phenomena in mundane, hyper-realistic Scandinavian and American landscapes have made Stålenhag one
of the most sought-after visual storytellers in the world. Tales from the Loop was ranked one of the “10 Best
Dystopias” by The Guardian, along with such works as Franz Kafka’s The Trial and Andrew Niccol’s
Gattaca. Labyrinth is Stålenhag’s highly anticipated fourth book.

Flodskörden (things from the Flood)
The Loop is closed. Life is slowly returning to normal when the
pastoral countryside is suddenly flooded by dark water from the huge
abandoned underground facility. Rumors spread in classrooms and
schoolyards, stories about the flood and how it has brought something
with it. One thing is clear: the past is not ready to be forgotten.
In Things from the Flood, Simon Stålenhag continues the stories of Tales From The Loop, memories
of a Nordic childhood infused with strange machines and creatures from other dimensions.
The focus has moved from the 80s to the 90s, a decade of great change when the outside world

Tales from the Loop is a heady journey through fantastical landscapes
eerily similar to our own, where children explore and engage with
abandoned robots, vehicles, machinery large and small, and
dinosaurs and other creatures wander the roads and fields.
Stålenhag’s paintings and stories take place in an alternate version
of Sweden in the 80s and 90s, but primarily in the countryside of Mälaröarna, a string of islands
just west of Stockholm. Tales from the Loop tells of how this technology-infused reality came
about: the development of the Loop, a large particle accelerator, and the side effects that this
massive project had.

The Authorized Biography
2 0 2 0
Already as a young boy, he was a sensitive and introspective individual who, like many teens,
struggled to find a place for himself. A timid and introverted kid with a unique gift for
“connecting the dots outside the box” and with a great aptitude for technology, he preferred the
computer to going out. He spent hours upon hours in his bedroom, safely shielded behind his
screen-name, mastering the art of online gaming. It was through his exceptional talent and
obsession with computer games that he first discovered music composer programs. There he
found a world on his own conditions, a world where he would feel comfortable and content,
where everything made sense. Little did he know that this was the springboard that would
launch him on his meteoric rise to prominence, leading him to become one of the most
influential composers, DJs and music producers of all time – an era-defining virtuoso in
contemporary pop music.
Tim’s suicide, at the mere age of 28, broke the hearts of millions of people now desperate to
understand the enigma that he was:
On the one hand, a boy in his early twenties living the life most his age desire but could only
dream of: traveling the world in private jets accompanied by an entourage of childhood friends, having millions of fans scream
one’s name in packed arenas, partying with celebrities, having an abundance of money, being surrounded by beautiful girls, staying
in luxury villas, having drinks by infinity pools… In short, Tim had reached the pinnacle of what many define as success and the
dream life.
On the other hand, a humble, fragile and beautiful artistic soul, a young seeker struggling with existential thoughts. Tim
increasingly felt that he wasn’t cut out for the top of the music industry and the expectations and business-machinery that came
with it. He was an extraordinary musical wunderkind who loved his craft but shunned the spotlight and social media, and who
fought to find peace of mind in a society that moves at a freakishly fast pace.
Tim Bergling has become a symbol of the times we live in, a reflection of our constantly plugged-in, exposure-hungry society and
how it fails to protect its own: an utterly important and high-profile example of the youth suicide epidemic that the world is
currently experiencing.
Through the exclusive cooperation with the Bergling family, Måns Mosesson will have access to those closest to Tim – family,
friends and collaborators – from birth and onwards, as well as his text archives such as diaries, notes and essays.

I believe in sleeping outdoors, surrounded by tall fir trees, darkness and cold. Lying on my back and looking up
at the stars, watching my breath form thin clouds. Something happens when you’re surrounded by an infinite room.
Twenty years ago, Markus Torgeby traded his hectic urban lifestyle for the serenity of a small hut in the forests of Jämtland, northern
Sweden. He ended up living there for four years, in solitude and perfect harmony with nature. Today, he and his wife Frida along with
their three children live in a house Markus built with his own hands, near the site where he once survived on nothing but oatmeal,
brook water and the forest’s pantry. Nature is their living room and behind their house stands Markus’ old wilderness hut, where one
can sleep when so inclined.
In Under the Open Skies: A Practical Guide to Living Close to Nature, Markus gives an inspirational account of his and his family’s outdoor
lifestyle and how it has in turn helped them find a balance in life. The book is also brimming with practical advice: Why is reindeer
skin superior to synthetic sleeping mats? How does one most effectively dry a couple of wet socks? Which kind of grass is the gentlest
on your behind when doing your business in the wild?
Under the Open Skies: A Practical Guide to Living Close to Nature is a groundbreaking, everyday-philosophical source of inspiration for
experienced adventurers and wilderness rookies alike.

After twenty years as a family psychologist, I know that no one is born a good parent. But
I also know that almost everyone can become one – and that everyone can become better. The
role of parent to a child will be the most important role you’ll ever have in your life. It will
demand wisdom, knowledge, lots of courage, and even more self-knowledge. At times it will
demand more of you than you’d ever expect, but the beauty of it all is:
If you become a better parent, you will also become a better person. It’s in other words very
much worth the hard work.
How do you get a happy child? How do you foster confidence? How do you prepare a child for
sad things to come? How angry are you actually allowed to get? Which is the most common
mistake parents make? And what is really the most important job of parents during a child’s
infancy and adolescence?
Parental Magic is a modern-day bible for 21st century parents. In seven easy steps, psychologist
and family therapist Hedvig Montgomery guides parents and guardians towards what everyone
wishes for: children and adults who are content and happy with themselves – also when
together.
Parental Magic is the smart and simple book that will teach you how to become the parent you
wish to be. The Parental Magic series will have five installments.

We know more about interior design today than ever before. Or rather: We
know more about knickknacks, furniture and trends than ever before. By
contrast, we are less familiar with the basic principles behind interior and
styling – what looks good and, most of all, why it looks good. Although we
spend more and more on our homes, it’s surprisingly few that are satisfied
with their renovations and decorating; the ingredients are all there, but there’s
still something missing. How does one go about creating a home that’s functional, balanced and
ultimately you?
Home styling guru Frida Ramstedt, the woman behind the blog that has coached an entire
Scandinavian generation in the art of creating a harmonious home, thinks it is time that we start
thinking about how we ought to decorate, not with what.
In Make Yourself at Home: The Ultimate Guide to Interior Decorating, Frida Ramstedt provides you
with a toolbox of ideas that will rewrite your old notions about interior design and give you the
tools you need to create a home you will love. This interior design book contains no glossy
photos of styled homes – instead it provides you with pedagogic explanations, in both text and
illustrations, of the stylists’ secret tricks, and teaches you basic principles that everyone can
enjoy and find useful no matter what their style or taste.
Reading material: Swedish edition (240 pp) and an English sample translation.

Thomas Quick has been convicted of eight murders and confessed to an
additional twenty-five. He is widely considered the most ruthless murderer,
rapist and cannibal in Scandinavian history.
In the spring of 2008, investigative journalist Hannes Råstam traveled to Säter,
the mental institution where Thomas Quick was serving a life sentence, to
meet Sweden’s most abominable serial killer in person. It was a meeting that
would have far-reaching consequences for both of them.
After that first, apprehensive meeting, Råstam proceeded to inspect all the documents from the
murder investigations, scrutinize each and every interrogation, and examine Thomas Quick’s
own accounts. He read and reread the verdicts and watched the police reenactments on repeat.
He managed to get access to material that was previously unaccounted for: medical journals
from Säter, the personal logs of police officers, and unseen police reports. Soon, a haunting
uncertainty began to take root in Råstam, and piece by piece, he reconstructed the story of how
Scandinavia’s worst serial killer was created. The answer to the mystery of Thomas Quick
turned out to be more terrifying than the man himself.
Thomas Quick – The Making of a Serial Killer is a real-life thriller about a bizarre personal destiny
and a tragic legal case. It reveals how Thomas Quick was transformed into a serial killer, and how six unanimous trial courts convicted
him of eight murders he didn’t commit.
Besides winning numerous awards, Thomas Quick – The Making of a Serial Killer was a No. 1 national bestseller in Sweden, and a best
selling book – across all genres and categories.

Critics have called the ten
Martin Beck novels
among the best in
modern crime fiction.
Translated into 35
languages, they have sold
an estimated ten million
copies. Edgar Award
winning author duo Per
Wahlöö and Maj Sjöwall
had an ambitious goal: to
record the course of
society’s development over a decade. Beginning in 1965, they wrote one 30-chapter mystery every year
for ten years. The ten books were meant to be read as one long 300-chapter novel that amounted to a
dissection of Swedish society. The novel was called The Story of a Crime.
Reading material: Swedish and English editions.
• Introductions to all ten books available from:

roman om ett brott (the Story of a crime)
If any crime novels deserve to be called modern classics, it is the ten police proce-
durals about Martin Beck and his colleagues. With them, the Swedish author duo
Maj Sjöwall (b. 1935) and Per Wahlöö (1926-1975), virtually created the modern
detective novel. Written in the 60s and 70s, the decalogue is nothing short of a
national literary treasure, with countless contemporary imitators across the world.
Together, the ten books chronicle the painful creation of modern society.

Heine BakkeidHeine Bakkeid (b. 1974) grew up in the rugged landscape of Northern Norway, where mist-shrouded
waters meet some of Scandinavia’s most striking mountain formations. Bakkeid made his literary debut
in 2005 when he published a spy novel for young adults. Since then he has gone on to write several novels
for young readers. The acclaimed I Will Miss You Tomorrow – the first installment in the Thorkild Aske
series – was Bakkeid’s first venture into crime fiction, and earned him the critics’ recognition as a virtuoso
of darkly atmospheric suspense. The series’ dark undertones and windswept landscapes are fetched from
Bakkeid’s own native North.
The stormy season is fast approaching when former interrogation leader
Thorkild Aske is released from prison. Having served a three-year sentence
for manslaughter, Thorkild is a pariah among his colleagues: a cop gone bad,
like the men and women he himself used to interrogate while still at the
Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs. Wracked by guilt and relentless
physical pain, Thorkild lets himself be persuaded to travel to a small town in
the remote North in order to find a missing young man, Rasmus Moritzen. Supposedly gone
missing while diving, Rasmus’ disappearance has been written off as a drowning accident by the
local authorities. However the boy’s mother won’t rest till his body has been returned to her.
And so it becomes Thorkild’s job to find the young man, and wrest him back from the sea. But
the windswept island and abandoned lighthouse he finds himself searching are hiding more
secrets than just the location of Rasmus’ remains. And as the winter storm whips the waves into
a frenzy, the body that is washed ashore isn’t that of Rasmus, but a faceless young woman.
I Will Miss You Tomorrow is Heine Bakkeid’s first venture into crime fiction and the first book
about former interrogation leader Thorkild Aske.

The naked body of a dead woman is found in a fountain in Copenhagen.
Bizarre, symmetrical cuts cover her skin and she’s bled to death. Police
Sergeant Jeppe Kørner is assigned to the case. Anette Werner is on maternity
leave – or should be. The investigation takes Kørner, his new partner, and
Werner into the heart of the healthcare system. It’s a world where great
empathy and care is shown, but ambitions fester under the surface.
Meanwhile, Esther de Laurenti is suffering from writer’s block, and possibly depression. As her
friend is admitted to the coronary care unit, Esther seeks help from a psychiatrist who
unbeknownst to her has ties to the ongoing case. Esther and her friend are now both at the
mercy of a system that’s hiding a killer, and the hours till the next death have started ticking.

A young woman is found brutally murdered in her home, a pattern carved into
her face. Police Sergeants Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner are assigned to the
case. A link is quickly established between the murder victim – Julie – and her
landlady, Esther de Laurenti. Seeing in Julie a shade of her own carefully
hidden past, the older woman has used Julie as a character in her still
unfinished mystery novel. Something that resulted in the young woman’s
death both on and off paper. But when the evidence points to Esther being the focus of a game
of vengeance rather than their killer, Jeppe and Anette must go back into the two women’s pasts
to uncover the secret that made them targets.

For the last three years, Lelle has spent his summer nights driving. He traces
Route 95 with his car, cutting across northern Sweden’s isolated landscape in
a north-westerly direction until he reaches the Norwegian border. Three years
ago, his seventeen-year-old daughter went missing on this highway, a colorless
stretch of road that the midnight sun now illuminates in front of him, the
Silver Road. Her disappearance is tearing Lelle apart from within.
The small town of Glimmersträsk, an almost unnoticeable stop along the Silver Road, sees the
arrival of Meja and her mother. Meja is the same age Lelle’s daughter was at the time of her
disappearance. As the darkness of fall approaches, Lelle’s and Meja’s destinies become linked.
When another girl goes missing, their lives are forever entwined.
Stina Jackson’s debut novel The Silver Road is a haunting and moving work of suspense. A critic’s
favorite from day one, it’s a story about community, isolation, never giving up, and about having
the strength to go on even in the darkest of times.

Jørn Lier HorstJørn Lier Horst (b. 1970) has with his award-winning novels about William Wisting joined the elite of
Nordic crime writers. Having worked as a head of investigations before becoming a full-time author, Horst
brings a unique brand of suspense and realism to the table. Besides his novels for grown readers, Horst has
gained recognition for his unparalleled ability to thrill even young readers with charming mysteries. His
standing as the Norwegian king of crime fiction for all ages was cemented when he created the Detective
Agency No. 2 and CLUE series, both the most popular children’s book series in their respective age
categories.
It’s that time of the year. For the twenty-fourth time, William Wisting gets out
the papers from when Katharina Haugen disappeared. The case was never
solved, and every year since Wisting has called on Katharina’s husband, Martin
Haugen. The steady contact between the police inspector and the bereaved
husband has over the years developed into a friendship. But this year,
Haugen’s house stands empty and dark when Wisting arrives. On the
anniversary of his wife’s disappearance, Martin Haugen has gone missing.
The same day, Kripos investigator Adrian Stiller comes to see Wisting. A young cold case
investigator for the National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos), Stiller has uncovered a
connection between Katharina’s disappearance and the missing person case he’s working on.
The two must join efforts, but the collaboration with the complex Stiller will be a challenge for
the experienced Wisting. The two driven investigators must all the same find a starting point
they can agree on, and use their combined capabilities to solve the case.

On a cold day in Reykjavik, a baby goes missing from her pram. In her place,
the father finds the body of a dead infant. The missing baby was born through
a surrogacy agreement, one that started off well but quickly deteriorated.
Eleven years have passed since the disappearance, when an isolated case of
measles results in the death of a young girl. Her father sets out to find the
responsible virus carrier in order to exact his revenge. In another part of the
city, a woman’s dismembered body is found in a deserted car, her head missing.
In The Fallout, the sixth instalment in the Freyja and Huldar series, Police officer Huldar and child psychologist Freyja must combine
their wits to solve a difficult case, where the fallout from previous misdeeds is relentless. The only common denominator in all three
cases is the wall of silence that encircles those involved.

A young woman is brutally murdered in her home in Reykjavik. The only
witness is her seven-year-old daughter. When another woman is murdered
shortly thereafter, the police are at a loss. A radio-amateur receives peculiar
messages which connect him to both of the murdered women and his
curiosity drives him to begin an investigation of his own. Huldar, the police
officer in charge of the investigation, and Freyja, the psychologist entrusted
with the seven year old girl who is their key witness, are forced to work together. Their
collaboration is complicated by the fact that they recently spent the night together after meeting
in a bar where Huldar claimed he was a carpenter from out of town...

nail-biting page-turners ripe with fast paced storytelling, lively prose, compelling characters and

inflict harm on people who have no idea that they’re connected by past horrors. yrsa is a magnificent

Defense attorney Martin Benner has a weakness for antiques. When his friend
Henry dies, Martin is given an offer too good to turn down: to take over
Henry’s partial ownership of an antiques store in New York. But his good
fortune is short-lived – a man shows up claiming that Henry didn’t die from
illness but was murdered. At the same time Martin notices that he’s being
watched. Someone is leaving footprints in the snow around his house and his
surveillance equipment is sabotaged.
Martin is soon drawn into a feverish hunt for the truth about Henry. His search brings him to
a series of supposedly closed hotels with shady business occurring on their premises, a church with too much power, and antiquities
containing deadly secrets. The line between truth and lie and friend and enemy grows ever more blurred.
Who was Henry Schiller? And was there more to his death than meets the eye?
To Him Who Knocks is Kristina Ohlsson’s third book about Martin Benner and a riveting and intricate crime novel about a past that
won’t let itself be forgotten.

“Kristina ohlsson, who has a background in the Swedish Security Service,

they are strong, grim, dark, and unpredictable. and so very, very human.”

Where is Mio? This question won’t allow Martin Benner any peace of mind.
He’s been dragged into the pursuit of the missing four-year-old against his
will. Martin also needs to figure out who’s trying to frame him for murders he
didn’t commit. Investigators are closing in on him, and time is running out.
Meanwhile, the bodies continue to pile up. The people with whom Martin has
shared his story begin to die, one by one. Martin’s paranoia only grows worse,
and he doesn’t know who to trust anymore. The clues point in the most implausible direction.
It gradually becomes clear that the identity of the killer and that of Mio’s kidnapper are one and
the same. Martin realizes that he cannot save both Mio and himself. He has to choose.

across the Swedish capital, with temperatures belying the season even by
Scandinavian standards. When Bobby barges into the law offices of Benner &
Miller, things begin to deteriorate further. Unbeknownst to Martin Benner, a

unexpected and somewhat frustrating visitor will come to change everything
with a deceptively straightforward case…

Selma Falck wakes to a nightmare. She’s naked and trapped in a burning cabin
on a snow-covered mountain. She has no idea where she is or how she got
there. Hurt and bleeding, she barely makes it out in time. Wearing nothing
more than a pair of oversized rubber boots, she watches the cabin burn to the
ground. There are no signs of human habitation nearby, the temperature is
rapidly dropping, and a blizzard is approaching. She must survive.
As Selma fights the cold, the hunger and her own wounds, it comes back to her in bits and
pieces. She tries to put it all together, and eventually it forms a frightening picture of the past six months. Selma realizes that she not
only has to survive, but make it back to civilization, quickly. Murder has been committed, and a great injustice must be stopped. The
future of the nation itself is at stake.
