Hello...
Salisbury Arts Centre, Bedwin Street, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP1 3UTIn exceptional circumstances we may have to make changes to the planned programme of events. We avoid this wherever possible but we’re afraid we have to reserve the right to do so.
Front cover image: Artificial Things (see page 23)
Welcome to Salisbury Arts Centre: a place to have fun, meet new people and enjoy being part of a creative community. We love arts that are original and spark ideas. We seek out hidden treasures and support the creation of new work. If you’re baffled by the choices please don’t be shy; we’ll happily recommend something for you.

Meet Steph, our new Box Office Co-ordinator. She'll often be the friendly face that welcomes you. We asked her to address some frequently asked questions and share her autumn highlight:
How do I book? You can call us on 01722 321744 or pop in Tuesday - Sunday 10am - 3pm. You can also book online at www.salisburyartscentre.co.uk.
Do you offer discounts?Yes! We offer free tickets for essential companions and concessions for under 16 year olds, full-time students, over 65 year olds and disability benefit claimants. You can also save money by becoming a member or loyalty card holder. You'll earn double loyalty points on events with this symbol:
Can my child attend a show alone? We ask that all children under 8 be accompanied by an adult.
Can I reserve tickets? You can. Performance and film tickets can be held for up to 4 working days.
Is it possible to get a refund?Refunds and exchanges only apply if an event is cancelled.
What's your autumn highlight?I'm hugely excited to see Bridget Christie, whose serious yet silly social commentary makes her a powerful voice for women in comedy.

Meet Esther, our Deputy Operations & Hirings Manager. She makes sure you're looked after and keeps events running smoothly. She has answered all your access questions:
Can I reserve a seat for an event? For performances and screenings on the tiered rake seating we reserve the front row for wheelchair users and essential companions and those who aren't able to climb the steps. Due to high demand for front row seats we're not able to reserve additional seats for friends and family but if you come early you can sit nearby. All other seats are unreserved.
Will I be able to get to all the spaces in a wheelchair/with a pushchair?Yes! All public spaces are accessible by ramp or lift and a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities is available on the ground floor.
Do you have a hearing loop? The main space is fitted with an infrared system and the White Room studio and Café stages are fitted with induction loops.
Where can I park?College Street and Salt Lane car parks are free after 6pm and there are 2 disabled parking spaces in the Arts Centre car park.
What's your autumn highlight?Propeller's Pocket Dream, as their shows are such a wonderful way for younger audiences to enjoy the world of Shakespeare, with no loss to the plot. I love their great acting, costumes and energy.
Meet Chris, our Fund Development Co-ordinator. He recreated our membership scheme and is here to answer all your questions about membership:
Why does Salisbury Arts Centre have members?Salisbury Arts Centre was founded by the community and membership is a way to ensure people are at the heart of the organisation. The charity is also a company limited by guarantee, which means members who want a bit of extra input into the Arts Centre are a vital part of the structure of the organisation.
What's in it for me?Members get a range of discounts on tickets, food, and more. Plus you can feel good about supporting a registered charity that aims to make your community a better place. And if you're really keen to get involved, members can even register to vote at the AGM.
Are there other ways I can support?Too many to list here! You can help with everything from Direct Debit donations to donating scrap farm machinery. For a complete list, check out the Support Us section ofwww.salisburyartscentre.co.uk.
What's your autumn highlight?Studio Ghibli's The Wind Rises as it is the last film directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, who is retiring from animation.

ExhibitionsTuesday - Sunday 10am - 3pm(subject to closure during performances)
Open Tuesday - Sunday 10am - 3pm
Exhibitions Manager Fiona Cassidy introduces the season:
How were these exhibitions selected?LOST began with an independent curator approaching us. She'd met several artists with works that had been hidden away for many years and was excited about showcasing them together. We put a call out for further 'lost' works to unearth a full exhibition of hidden treasures.
The Open is the result of our annual callout to artists of any level of experience worldwide. This year we're inviting printmaking submissions.
Virtual Worlds builds on a longstanding relationship with artist and researcher Olu Taiwo. Olu, Jackie Calderwood and Lynne Heller all share an interest in bridging real and virtual worlds and we loved the way these artists use the internet in their work.
What's your autumn highlight?I really like open exhibitions because you never know what's coming. It's always inspiring to experience people's willingness to put their work out there.
LOSTLaunch: Wednesday 20 August 6 - 8pmFeaturing a live performance by David O'Connor and a film screening from Matt WhiteThursday 21 August - Sunday 28 September
An exhibition of 'lost' artworks from the 20th Century.
What if you could unpick history?
LOST is an artistic archaeology of the recent past.
The show explores the idea that what gets written into art history may only be the tip of the iceberg. It delves beneath the surface to a mass of overlooked and forgotten possibilities and creations.

Virtual WorldsLaunch: Thursday 13 November 6 - 8pmFriday 14 November - Sunday 21 December

The artworks create bridges from online activities in Second Life and geocaching into the gallery and wider community.

Director Gemma Okell introduces the season:
With all the wonderful artists out there, how do you begin programming?I like to think of it as a marvellous jigsaw. The team looks at who is touring and we piece together our favourite companies with new companies who are exploring ideas that sound exciting - all the time thinking about possible thematic links.
What are the themes of the season? The theme 'Artificial Things' has run through 2014. It was inspired by the title of Stopgap Dance Company's new show so we're delighted to be welcoming them in November. There are also wartime links and themes of masculinity and feminism, as well as a focus on shows suitable for deaf audiences.
What's your autumn highlight? It's got to be Stopgap's Artificial Things. It's a fascinating performance by an outstanding company. They pay attention to every detail and will be supporting Jigsaw Youth Dance Company to create a brand new curtain raiser especially for us!

An evocative production from the UK's leading dance company that integrates disabled and non-disabled dancers.
Slowly suffocating in each other's company, a group of friends seek escape in a bash of riotous rock-n-roll. But their wild disorder descends into playground politics and reveals uncomfortable truths.
Featuring dancer David Toole from DV8's multi-award winning film Cost of Living, Artificial Things will blow you away with exceptional dance and cinematic flair.
Pre-show talk as part of Café LUA at 2pm.
Curtain raiser performance by Jigsaw: Salisbury Youth Dance Company.
