Sales GuideOfficeServ Connect

Mobility, Connectivity, FlexibilityMobility is more about connectivity, being in contact, than it is about moving around on the phone. In today’s competitive business environment being properly ‘connected’ is more important than it’s ever been. Having the rightinformation, being up to date with the facts and speaking to people when it matters makes all the difference. Old infois the wrong info and returning calls when it’s too late is pointless. Samsung Unified Communications solutions really deliver in bringing people and their methods of communicationtogether and in contact with each other.

Features of OfficeServ Connect

1. System will ‘poll’ up to 5 devices (mobile phone, home office, alternate office, workshop, etc.) which will simultaneously ring.

2. Make and receive calls through the OfficeServ system from any device including mobile as if you were at your desk.

3. Always in contact, never miss that important call.

4. Managing calls through the system allows you to maintain the central benefits of call control, operator console, voice mail, call recording, etc.

5. Full control of the call including transfer with Pro upgrade.

Key in all this is that contacts can reach you via one-single number.

Sales GuideCall Deflection

How to be in when you are outCall deflection is a different type of call forwarding, very useful for people on the move who need to make sure they donot miss that important call.

How is call deflection different?

Traditionally a PBX would answer the incoming call and either automatically transfer the call to another external line ormanually transfer using an operator. There are several drawbacks with this method;

1. If it is manual there needs to be somebody manning the office to be able to forward the calls on.

2. If it is automatic the resultant call will not send the right Caller Line Identity (CLI) to the person receiving the call, which can be a problem if you are screening calls or if the call is missed as there is no return number.

3. When transferring calls from the PBX you will be using two lines, for the smaller system this can increase costs if line capacity has to be increased to accommodate this.

The solution to all of the above is to use Call Deflection. Call Deflection is a feature provided by the network andactivated by the OfficeServ system. To the end user it is as simple as setting up a traditional call forward. Just inputthe destination number into the handset and make it active. The result is much different. When the incoming call issent to the OfficeServ, the system sends a message to the network to re-direct the call to the new number. The resultis that the person receiving the call will see the original CLI and there are no lines used by the OfficeServ.

Clear BenefitsOriginators CLI presented to destinationNo trunk trombone – reduced line capacity/costNo ring break/delayDirect connectionCompatible with ISDN (BRI and PRI) circuits and SIP trunks, check with service provider for their ability to support thisfeature first.Warning – no call status indication, control or recording.

Clear BenefitsPure IP Architecture Flexibility to connect IP to legacy networks (MGI)

Direct Media Connection of IP voice/video devices (MPS)Reduces cost of IP systemReduces system components/cabinets

Sales GuideOfficeServ Application Server (OAS)

Pure IP Telephony (Introducing Media Proxy Server)

Efficiency with FunctionalityThe OAS is implemented in the OS7030 and OS7100 as a pure software application integral to the systems main processing software. On the larger systems of OS7200 and OS7400 this application has a dedicated hardware platform that is integrated into the host OfficeServ system. This method of implementation allows greater scalability aswell as flexibility.

The OAS module for the OS7200 and OS7400 provides three major functions.IP Telephony1. Media Proxy Server (MPS) – This is the heart of an IP based communications system and performs all the tasks

necessary to make voice and video communications within an IP network. It brings efficiency by being the “Operator” in an IP network, checking handset status and capabilities before passing calls through. It also looks after complexities such as how to connect to remote IP handsets that can be on completely different networks in different countries or continents or integrating video. The MPS manages the whole process without the end user having to be concerned about How or Why.

2. Media Gateway Interface (MGI) – There are many places you need to communicate to that are not within the IP networks, such as the phone in your home, a fax machine or answering machine. In these cases there needs to be a gateway between these devices and the IP world. The Samsung MGI is a very efficient way of performing this task, supporting many protocols and codec’s. It takes the conversion process in its stride, always delivering high quality voice communications between any devices.

OfficeServ Connect Capability3. Dual Tone Multi Frequency Detection (DTMF) – You may know this under its more informal name of “Tone Dialling”.

To allow the OfficeServ system to efficiently and flexibly communicate with virtually any type of phone, it is sometimes necessary to communicate using these tones. This allows powerful functions such as OfficeServ Connect to be used with any mobile handset and just about any fixed line phone. Removing restrictions increases flexibility and therefore efficiency.
