The inquiry

• Based on a framework established in 2011 by the community

• Call for answer in May 2012– Opened until end of June– 330 students– 110 teachers

• Two parts:– Sakai tools use– General feeling about IT and LMS

A short history

• 2000 – 2006: WebCT– In 2006-2007: 150 courses, 1000 students

• 2007 – 2013: Sakai CLE– 2013: 1500 active courses, 50 projects– 20 000 students– 1200 teachers

• Accessible from the university portal: uPortal 4– Backdoor for non-registered students– No connection to students system– LDAP-CAS authentication

• 65% of teachers use Sakai for blended learning• 17% as a supplement only• 4% for distance learning• Expectations from students are higher than from

teachers– Teachers skeptic about a changing attitude of students– Not all ready for the work required to enhance teaching

with Sakai• A minority does not want to change (less than

10%)
