Mass Schedule & Intentions For The Week All Masses will be livestreamed on the

Tuesday, May 12—Weekday Mass 8:30am The Souls of All Parishioners

Wednesday, May 13—Weekday Mass 8:30am June Pfeifer Thursday, May 14—Weekday Mass 8:30am Ray Louis

Friday, May 15—Weekday Mass 8:30am Jeanette

Saturday, May 16— Sixth Sunday of Easter (Vigil) 10:00am 4:00pm Stanley Kiec and Jackie VLK-Maire 6:30pm (Spanish)

Sunday, May 17—Sixth Sunday of Easter 9:00am Ida & Richard Guest 11:00am Vickie Arena

Dear Parishioners, On Tuesday, I met with the Fire Chief of the Twinsburg Fire Department regarding the opening up of our church for public worship. He has agreed that the capacity of our church, which typically can hold 600 people, could accommodate social distancing with as many as 300 attendees. On a normal weekend, we usually have 900-1000 people attend our four Masses.

Though the church is open for public worship and we will be celebrating Mass with the community, the bishops have decided to suspend the Sunday Obligation to attend Mass. In other words, if you decide not to attend Mass, you will not be committing a sin. If you are not feeling well, are considered a high health risk, or are simply not comfortable coming to the church at this time, we advise you to stay home. We will continue to live-stream the Masses for those who choose not to come to the church building.

I anticipated between 200-250 parishioners will choose not to attend. To accommodate the 650-800 parishioners who I anticipate will want to attend Mass, I believe that our regular Mass schedule will be sufficient. Families can sit together, though we will have everyone spread out to every other pew. The fabric covering on the pews has been removed. We will easily be able to disinfect the church after each Mass. We will be looking for volunteers to help with the cleaning. I do encourage you to wear your facemasks, if only to make your neighbors feel more comfortable.

The first weekend will be the lowest risk of spreading the contagion, since we have all been under quarantine. If we have more than 300 people at the 4:00 PM Mass, I will look for a show of hands of those willing to attend a different Mass the following weekend so as to lower the number of people. As the weeks continue, the risk rises. Therefore, we may begin with more than 300 people at a Mass, but the sooner we can adapt to the capacity number, the safer we will be in the future.

Communion will be offered in the hand using a technique that does not require us touching each other. Confessions will be available by appointment so as not to have long lines waiting too close to each other. We will place squares on the floor for the Communion line. The Adoration Chapel will be closed until further notice.

I thank you for your patience and adherence in these matters. May God protect your families and help us to appreciate all the more the Eucharist and the community.

Pro-Life LinesJesus said, "I am the Truth, the Way, and the Life". So when we speak the truth, we are standing with Jesus. The truth is abortion minded mothers need

support from all of us, especially by our prayers. We can, also, encourage mothers by helping them to find

the resources and help they may need so they can make a confident choice of life for their child.

Expectant mothers need to know that their child is important to everyone and there is help for her and

her child. We can build a 'Culture of Life' one mother at a time, one baby at a time, one heart at a time. Through word of mouth and through much

prayer many hearts will be changed. By the enacting of pro-life laws, our country will, once again, safe

guard all life including the unborn, the disabled, the elderly, the imprisoned, and the sick. Mothers, too, would then receive more respect that they and their young child deserve and it would be easier to seek

out any life affirming help they may need.

Adoration is closed until further notice

“The devotion to the Eucharist is the most noble, because it has God as its object; it is the most profitable for salvation, because it

gives us the Author of Grace; it is the sweetest, because the Lord is

Sweetness Itself.”-Pope St. Pius X

While there are no public Masses being said in our diocese at this

time, the Loaves and Fishes Prayer Teams continue to pray for all of

our parishioners. If you would like to pray over the phone with someone please call Michele Poletti at (330)524-3931

“Ask A Catholic” Corner

One of the areas in which Catholics and other Christians find tension is in regard to Mary. Who is Mary, and why do Catholics give her so much honor? Aren’t we only

supposed to worship God? First of all, Catholics do not worship Mary! We give her great respect as the mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We honor her, as our Lord honors his own mother. Mary wasn’t a mindless bodily shell where Jesus incubated until he was ready to be born! The incarnation was real in every way. Mary was an active participant in God’s holy plan. God invited her and she said YES! She risked her own life in saying yes to God, and she continued to trust in him throughout her whole life. Mary is a great example of what it means to be a saint. She is uniquely united with Jesus, and was one of his most faithful followers. Mary was a witness to many things, including Jesus’ healings, his teachings, and his power over evil and death. Mary watched helplessly and in great sorrow, as Jesus carried his cross and died on Calvary for us. Mary was a witness after-the-fact of Jesus’ glorious resurrection, and was gathered with the disciples at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came upon them. No one was as close to Jesus throughout his entire life as Mary was. She is our prime example of staying close to Jesus and placing full and absolute trust in God no matter what! We use many terms of honor for Mary, some of them given to us from the Holy Scriptures, and others from Sacred Tradition. These are both ways of knowing and showing respect for the woman whom God himself chose to honor. Mary is Theotokos. This word means “God bearer.” The fact is that the Blessed Virgin Mary, carried a child within her, and that child whom she gave birth to was Christ, the Lord. We call Mary “The Mother of God,” not to place Mary at some falsely elevated status, but to proclaim that the child she bore was in fact, divine – God – Emmanuel, God with us. The angel Gabriel proclaimed her “full of grace” and her cousin, Elizabeth said of her that Mary is “blessed… among women.” Mary would never overshadow the Lord; in fact, she brought the Light of the World, into the world. Mary was present when Jesus performed his first public miracle, and she encouraged him to do so. Her words to the servants? “Do whatever He tells you!” Those are Mary’s words to us even today. Do whatever He tells you!

Being close to Mary is also being close to her Son. Mary always leads and points the way

to Jesus. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you!

“Motherhood has been introduced into the order of the covenant that God

made with humanity in Jesus Christ. Each and every time that motherhood is re-peated in human history, it is always related to the covenant which God

established with the human race through the motherhood of the Mother of God.” -Pope St. John Paul II

Fifth Sunday of Easter

In his encyclical, "Ecclesia de Eucharistia" ("A Eucharistic Church"), Saint John Paul II encouraged the practice of

spiritual communion, “which has been a wonderful part of Catholic

life for centuries and recommended by saints who were

masters of the spiritual life.” St. Thomas Aquinas described

spiritual communion as “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in

the most holy sacrament and lovingly embrace him” at a time

or in circumstances when we cannot receive him in sacramental

Communion.

We need Jesus' healing True Presence and He gives us the gift of spiritual communion so that we

are not without Him even when we cannot attend Mass.

Did you know that the month of May is dedicated to Mary, Our Blessed Mother? The devotion to the Blessed Mother throughout May originated in Rome in the 18th century and has spread throughout the whole world. Here in America our celebration of Mother’s Day also falls in May so this makes it appropriate to focus on honoring Mary’s role as Mother of God and of the

whole Church. Some ways we can honor Mary this month are by putting a statue of Mary in a place of prominence in our homes, praying the Rosary or other Marian Prayers, and reading about

Our Blessed Mother in the Scriptures.

“Let us run to her, and, as her little children, cast ourselves into her arms with perfect confidence.”

-St. Francis de Sales
