Reminder: Parents of second grade students, who will receive their First Eucharist in April/May, are reminded to attend the Parent Meeting this Monday, February 4, at 7:00 PM in the church.

Catholic Daughters Court St. Rose of Lima #737 will hold their monthly meeting this Tuesday, February 5, at 7:00 PM. Our meetings are held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 70 East Main Street, Freehold.

As our Blessed Mother was the bond of union among the Apostles and her own circle of holy women, may she be the bond of union among us, her devoted daughters. Both by nature and grace, the Catholic woman is endowed with the capacity to bring love into those areas of life where there is hatred, bigotry, discrimination by reason of race, religion or social standing. The capacity to feel compassion for the troubled, the poor and the unfortunate, to give of self for the sake of others, to radiate kindness and warmth where there is coldness, neglect and apathy – these are the Christian woman’s gifts nourished by the Eucharist and nurtured by grace.

You are invited to come join us and thousands of other Catholic women as a member of CDA, working with other Catholic women who share like values. Catholic women who are 18 years or older are eligible to be members. Visit us on Facebook at Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Rose of Lima #737. For more information, please contact Joann (732) 431-0913.

THAT UPLIFT (Luke 4:21-30)

Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Fr. Michael Brizio, IMC

www.shareinhisloveministries.com

Some years ago, Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men were created equal.”

And people got very angry.

King said, “I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.”

And they put him in jail.

He said, “I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heart of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.”

And they brought out the dogs.

He said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged according to the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

And they bombed a church and killed little girls.

He said, “I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.”

And they pointed a rifle and pulled the trigger.

Are you tired because of the burden of your duties, because many misunderstand you? Are you trying to find hope and meaning in life? Abandon yourself to Jesus and He will refresh you! The more time you spend with Jesus, the more you will come away feeling renewed and healed. Miracles of peace, answers to prayers, physical healings, and many other wonderful things happen where and when the Lord Jesus is adored in the Blessed Sacrament. We can offer Him our concerns, our troubles, our joys, our gratitude, our disappointments, our needs and our aspirations. The chapel is open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 12 Noon. The Chapel is located between the church and the rectory.

WALKING WITH MARY

Walking with Mary is an opportunity for parishioners to come together for the communal exercise of both body and spirit by incorporating the physical exercise of walking with the spiritual exercise of saying the Rosary. As walking is a way of obtaining health benefits and physical fitness, praying is the way of obtaining spiritual health benefits and spiritual fitness.

Prayer is comprised of talking and listening to God. Prayer opens our hearts to know His will and welcomes His grace to respond. Prayer gives us power over evil. It helps us to grow in our relationship with Him and strengthens the bonds between believers. Through the recitation of the Rosary, our Blessed Mother leads us to her Son, and places our needs before Him.

During Ordinary Time, Walking with Mary will take place on Friday, March 1, at 1:00 PM. Our Lenten cycle of the Sorrowful Mysteries will begin on Friday, March 8, and continue through April 12.

Parishioners are asked to meet at the Marian Grotto near the chapel. Please dress for the weather; if the weather prevents us from walking outside, we will walk and pray in the chapel. Rosaries and rosary prayer guides are provided. For more information, please call Evelyn Fano (732) 294-7428 or Karen Powell (732) 462-7828. Faith Community Health Ministry

Did you know that St. Rose of Lima Parish serves the Catholic patients of CentraState Hospital each Friday? In addition to the hospital, we have extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist serving three nursing homes, one senior citizen apartment building and homebound parishioners. None of this would be possible without the faithful service of dedicated lay ministers, but more help is needed. Parishioners who are interested in serving as ministers to the sick are trained by the parish to serve as extraordinary ministers and then receive additional training to serve as extraordinary ministers to the sick. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to serve in this special ministry. For more information, please call Karen Powell at (732) 462-7828.

FAITH COMMUNITY HEALTH MINISTRY

Calling all nurses, dietitians, EMTs, pharmacists, health care providers, mental health professionals, spiritual directors and anyone who is truly passionate about promoting health of mind, body and spirit. Have you considered sharing your faith and offering your service through the St. Rose of Lima’s Faith Community Health Ministry? Previously known as Faith Community Nursing or Parish Nursing, this ministry has been part of our parish for many years. This ministry promotes wellness and disease prevention through activities such as, but not limited to, blood drives, periodic blood pressure screenings, CPR/AED training, Walking with Mary and health education. Please consider sharing your unique gifts with the parish family through this beautiful ministry. For more information, contact Nurse Sylvia Mako (732) 431-3932 or Karen Powell (732) 462-7828.

“I would rather have bodily health than gold, and contentment of spirit than pearls. No riches are greater than a healthy body; and no happiness than a joyful heart.” (Sirach 30:15-16)
