DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY HOLY HOUR

Jesus told St. Faustina, at three o’clock, implore My Mercy, especially for sinners; and if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world… In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion (Diary 1320). As often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that moment of mercy was opened wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world – mercy triumphed over justice (Diary 1572). The nine day Divine Mercy Novena begins on Good Friday (This coming Friday). Please take a Divine Mercy Pamphlet located by each exit. At completion of the nine day Novena, please join us on Divine Mercy Sunday at 2:30. During this holy time there will be the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Rosary, Music, and Adoration.

FOOD FOR CHRIST 2018

Feed and Be Fed April showers are on their way and our food collection program is already blossoming! We are grateful for your weekly donations of non-perishable food. Thanks to you St. Rose is making great strides toward our initial goal of collecting 80,000 servings of food for hungry families in Montgomery County.

2018 Food Donations = 43,327 Servings!

We are also thankful for Shannon Carroll, a student at Gwynedd Mercy University that volunteers weekly to help sort, count and pack the food donations for delivery to local food pantries.

FOOD ITEMS MOST NEEDED IN APRIL

All non-perishable food is appreciated.

Items especially needed in April include spices and condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, salad dressing, salsa, etc.), Tomato, Bean or Vegetable Soup, and Juices and Juice Boxes.

Help with this important outreach! When you shop for yourself, pick up one extra non-perishable food item to FEED those in need. Bring the donation to Mass, place it in the collection bins located in the vestibule and on the altar near the Blessed Mother, and BE FED by the Word of God. Thank you.

MAY 17 RAISING KIDS IN A TOXIC CULTURE: RELIGION AS A

PROTECTIVE FACTOR

Mariette Danilo, Ph.D.

Every day our children receive messages from advertisers, music, movies, television, adults and peers, to name just a few. Kids experience more stress and anxiety, and are at risk for more problem behaviors today than ever before. We can’t put our kids in a bubble, but what if we could “inoculate” them?

Psychologist and researcher, Dr. Mariette Danilo will discuss how we can help kids navigate a world where you are what you look like and what you can buy. The good news is that the research has identified Religion as a “protective factor” for kids. Join us as we cut through the hype and discuss the real sources of self-esteem, motivation, joy and optimism.

Mariette Danilo holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University. As an academic, she taught graduate psychology courses in psychology and education. As a researcher in the Institute for Health Behavior Research at the Cornell University Medical College-New York Hospital Center, she has lectured extensively on Health Psychology and Adolescent Risk Behavior. Her research has focused on the cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial variables involved in the prediction and prevention of risk taking and health compromising behaviors in adolescents.

NEW STUDY! Easter: Season of Life and Fire

3 Mondays: April 30, May 7 & 14 7:30 - 8:30 pm

In the ancient church, the season of Easter was known as the laetissimum spatium - "the most joyful space" in the church's calendar. In Easter, Season of Life and Fire, commentary writer Barry Hudock looks at the resurrection of Jesus and the wonderful season that celebrates it through the lens of three key Scripture passages. One short lesson each week will shed light on both who Jesus is and what it means to be a Christian today.

PROGRAM SUGGESTIONS for APRIL 2018

If Christ has not been raised, said the Apostle Paul, then Christian Faith is in vain. The Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth is not an incidental or minor aspect of Christianity. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, Christianity is certainly false. In this documentary, rather than accept Christian belief blindly, top scholars, and biblical historians critically examine alternative explanations.

John Carmichael is a recovered alcoholic and now author and speaker testifying to the truth of the Catholic faith, the power of the sacraments, and the necessity of embarking on the greatest adventure of meeting Christ in his Church. With humor and conviction, Carmichael tells his personal story in a way which will resonate with every listener and simultaneously call them deeper into their own faith. This talk was given at the 2017 FOCUS conference. (Find this in LISTEN: Talks/FOCUS)

At the dawn of the twentieth century, three voices rose up from Poland to proclaim an urgent message, a message powerful enough to alter the course of an age plunging into spiritual darkness. Through never-before seen film footage and extensive interviews, this true story examines and chronicles the phenomenal lives and spiritual legacy of St. Faustina Kowalska, St. Maximilian Kolbe, & Pope St. John Paul II, modern day "Apostles of Mercy."

(Find this in: WATCH/Documentaries/Special Topics)

Jesus Stories were created to help children apply the lessons found in the parables of Jesus. Each 10 minute episode includes a story situation that children today can relate to, a parable, and a thought-provoking way to apply it. In this episode, The Good Samaritan, we learn how working on a project together can teach us the value of each individual person.
