St. Patrick’s Day

Most people only see St. Patrick’s

Day as another opportunity to

party. However, it is much more than that. It is a day set aside to

honor a very Godly man named Patrick who is revered as the Patron

Saint of Ireland.

St. Patrick was a Christian

missionary to Ireland around 400 A.D. He was responsible for many

Irish coming to faith in Jesus Christ. Patrick used the shamrock to

explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish

people. The word shamrock comes from the word “seamrog” which

means trefoil (three-leafed).

“You tell us there are three Gods,

and yet one. How can that be?” Irishmen would ask. “Do you not

see how in this wild flower three leaves are united on one stalk and

will you not then believe that there are three Persons and yet one

God?”

Simply stated, God the Father is

the Head of all. He is the One we pray to for eternal life.

God the Son came down to

Earth as Jesus Christ. (John 1:14)

He shed his blood on a Roman cross to pay for our sin debt. So it is

through faith in Him that we are able to live forever with God. When

Jesus rose out of the grave, He gave us victory over sin, death and

Hell.

God the Holy Spirit is the

Person who lives in us here on Earth after we allow God to place

His life within us. He gives us power

to overcome the Evil One and his temptations. He teaches us in all

things we should know to get us ready for Heaven and He gives us

true wisdom now.

We are only here in this life for

seventy or so years. But we will all live eternally.

Where will you spend eternity?

There are only two choices—

Heaven or Hell...God wants you in Heaven. However there is a

PROBLEM that keeps you out of Heaven. That problem is sin. The

Bible says that all of us have sinned

and fallen short of God’s expectations (Rom. 3:23).

Have you ever lied? Have you

ever taken something that didn’t belong to you? Have you ever taken

the name of God in vain (used it as

a curse word)? Have you ever hated someone? (Jesus says that is the

same as murder.)

If you have done any one of

these, you are guilty of breaking all of the Ten Commandments (James

2:10). God will judge you based on these standards. Would you be

innocent or guilty? You would be guilty. God is holy and righteous

and must punish our sins. His

punishment is eternal separation from Him in a place called Hell.

Happy

St. Pat’s

God loves you and has made

a way for you to be forgiven.

Peter wrote, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous

for the unrighteous, that he might

bring us to God…” (1 Pet. 3:18)

Will you choose to follow the God of St. Patrick? With His help, turn

away from your sins and put your faith in what Jesus did for you on

the cross. He suffered, died and

came back to life on the third day so that you could be made right

with God.

Talk to God right now…

Dear God, forgive me of all my sin

and sinful living. I believe that Jesus died for me and came back to life

so that I could be forgiven. I turn from my sin and put my faith in

Jesus. Help me live for you from

this day forward. Thank you for forgiving me. I ask this in Jesus’

name. AMEN…

If that prayer reflects the true

attitude of your heart, then God has forgiven you and given you eternal

life. The Bible says, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his

name, he gave the right to become

children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh

nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13) Now you

should…

• Read your Bible daily.

• Pray to God daily.

• Go to a church that teaches the

Bible.

• Follow through with believer’s

baptism.

• Tell others about Jesus Christ.
