From Fr. Brian Journey to Bolivia My dear friends, on Monday I will leave for a two week journey to Bolivia. Masses will be covered here by a visiting priest. I would like to share a little about the nature of my journey. Five years ago, I met Bishop Bob Flock who serves in Bolivia. He is originally a priest from Wisconsin. He invited me to come down and visit him in Bolivia. That idea stuck in my mind. Now I feel that I am ready to make this journey to visit Bolivia and experience the life of the local church. Bishop Bob is bishop of a large missionary diocese in the Amazon Basin called San Ignacio de Velasco. Many of their churches, including the cathedral of the diocese, began as missions of the old Jesuit missionaries who were sent to Bolivia. This territory was elevated to a diocese in 1994, and Bishop Bob is the second bishop of the diocese. Right now, the plan is for me to tour the diocese with the Bishop on his journeys to different parishes for confirmations and other events. We will go as far as the Brazilian border, and stay over night in some remote places. I have had all my shots! We might even visit one village that is only accessible by plane. Bishop Bob told me that I need to have a sense of adventure to visit Bolivia, and especially his diocese. I know that I will be praying hard every day as the Lord leads me to many places that I can't even imagine. If anyone needs prayers you can count on them. Please just pray for me that the Lord lead me safely home to you on September 12. I am hoping to be able to upload lots of great picture to Facebook and maybe some will get into the bulletin for you. Thank you for your prayers and support!
Women’s Bible Study
Women’s Bible Study will meet in the parish center
on Sunday, August 25th from 4 pm—5:30 pm. We are wrapping up for this year, but will begin again near the end of September! The ladies of St. Patrick's Parish who participated in the study enjoyed the growth in their faith, increased knowledge of the Bible and gaining new friendships. No previous experience reading or understanding the Bible is necessary as a study guide is followed. Please consider joining this year. More details to follow next week!

Mission Trip Update
This week, we hear what Mason Betthauser and Gavin Jahr had to say about their experience on our Catholic Heart Workcamp mission trip to Nashville! We start out with Gavin— “During this week all of us helped out in many different ways. Whether it was building wheelchair ramps or cleaning apartments. My job was to clean apartments. During that time, I saw a lot of new things, whether it be the people or environments. I also met a lot of new friends there, mainly ones involved in my work group. The staff there was great. I would be glad to come back next year.” And here’s what Mason had to say— “I feel like I had a really awesome, unique experience this week. I really enjoy seeing and helping others in any way, so it was a blessing to be able to this week. I’ve grown closer to God through prayer and I plan on getting closer. I had an amazing week and would definitely come back!”
