Word of Life

The repeated sacrifices of the Old Testament could never erase the sins; the

priests made offerings on their feet. Jesus, on the other hand, offered a single sac-

rifice and is sitting forever at the right hand of God. Here, the Christian is shaped

as one who has been brought to perfection, because with one sacrifice, he has

made perfect forever those who are being sanctified. “For by one offering he has

made perfect forever those who are being consecrated.” "By one offering he has

made perfect.... "to those who are being consecrated, a present that is not yet fin-

ished. Christ has placed a cause and blessed are all those who take advantage of

that cause. (Mons. Romero)

Every priest celebrates worship day after day, repeatedly offering the same sacri-

fices, he can never take away sins by himself, but it is through the priesthood of

Christ that He offered for sins, a single sacrifice forever, that has sanctified Chris-

tians, solely by His Sacrifice, which has purified us and allowed us unity with God.

In principle, Christ has deserved us thru His Sacrifice: He has objectively led us to

perfection, but we have to unite ourselves to this state that is offered to us. By our

state of tension of the true Christian life, which is already sanctified, and moreover,

was sacrificed only once and forever, and is sitting forever at the right hand of the

Father, is always obligated to join the consecration that is offered. That is why,

although the sacrifice of Christ is unique, our weakness demands that it be updat-

ed frequently by us. Although no sacrifice is needed for the atonement of sin,

Christ Himself wants His only offering and His only and definitive forgiveness up-

dated.

"The cause of redemption and liberation because through his sacrifice he paid the

debt of our sins and obtained for us the heights of heaven and eternal friendship

with God. Thus through this power and strength all those who believe in Christ are

brought to perfection. What hope for us to know that we are not supported by our

fragile walking sticks and to know that our cries of liberation are not some form of

demagogy that is supported with weapons or violence or the things of the earth …

what hope to realize that hope is more powerful that all these acts of vio-

lence" (Mons. Romero, Nov.18, 1979)

Los repetidos sacrificios del Antiguo Testamento jamás pudieron borrar los pecados;

los sacerdotes lo ofrecían de pie. Jesús, en cambio, ha ofrecido un único sacrificio y

está sentado para siempre a la derecha de Dios. El cristiano queda aquí configurado

como quien ha sido llevado hasta su perfección, porque con un solo sacrificio ha

hecho perfectos para siempre a los que está santificando. "Con una sola ofrenda ha

perfeccionado para siempre a los que van siendo consagrados". "Con una sola ofren-

da ha perfeccionado,..." a los que van siendo consagrados, un presente que todavía

no ha acabado. Cristo ha puesto la causa y dichosos todos aquellos que se aprove-

chan de esa causa. ( Mons. Romero)

Todo sacerdote celebra el culto día tras día ofreciendo repetidas veces los mismos

sacrificios, que nunca pueden quitar los pecados por sí mismo, sino que es por el

sacerdocio de Cristo que ofreció por los pecados un solo sacrificio para siempre, que

ha santificado a los cristianos, por el solo sacrificio de El, que nos ha purificado y per-

mitido la unión con Dios.

Cristo nos ha merecido, en principio, por su sacrificio: nos ha conducido

objetivamente a la perfección, pero nos queda unirnos a esta situación que se nos

ofrece. Por nuestro estado de tensión de la verdadera vida cristiana, que ya está

santificada, y, por otra parte que se sacrificó una sola vez y para siempre para

después sentarse a la derecha del padre está obligado siempre a incorporarse a la

santificación que se le ofrece. Esa es la razón de que, aunque el sacrificio de Cristo

es único, nuestra debilidad exige que sea actualizado frecuentemente por nosotros.

Aunque no hay que buscar ya ningún sacrificio para la expiación del pecado, el

propio Cristo ha querido que se actualice su única ofrenda y su único y definitivo

perdón.

“ La causa de la redención, de la liberación ya la puso Él, su sacrificio que pagó por

los pecados y que compró las alturas del cielo, la amistad de Dios para siempre. En-

tonces, en esa fuerza se van perfeccionando todos los que crean en Él. Qué espe-

ranza para nosotros saber que no nos apoyamos en nuestra caña frágil y que nues-

tro grito de liberación no es una demagogia que sólo se apoya en las armas, o en la

violencia, o en las cosas de la tierra; sino que es una esperanza más fuerte que to-

das las violencias” .( Mons. Romero, 18 Nov. 1979)

Q U I N C E A Ñ E R A S : E s necesario hacer cita con el padre por lo menos con 6

meses de anticipación.

BAUTISMOS: Los bautismos en español son el segundo sábado de cada mes a las 12pm y el cuarto domingo del mes a las 3pm.

PLATICAS PREBAUSTIMAL: son el primer domingo del mes a las 3pm en el salón parroquial. No niños a la plática por favor. Donación de $80 por la platica. Los padrinos tienen que ser mayores de 16 años y tener sus Sacramentos, si son casados deben estar casados por la Iglesia.

BODAS: Es necesario hacer cita con el padre. Por lo menos con 6 meses de anticipación de la fecha deseada.

BAPTISM: Baptisms in English are the 3rd Sunday of the month at 3pm. The parents and godparents need to attend a baptismal class on the 1st Sunday of the month at 3pm: $80 donation for the class. NO CHILDREN. The godparents must be confirmed, 16 years of age, and if married, validly married in the Catholic Church.

MARRIAGE: The couple needs to meet with a priest to begin their marriage preparation. Must make appointment at least 6 months prior to date desired.

ANOINTING OF THE

SICK: This sacrament is for those with a serious illness. It should be received at the beginning of an illness. Please do not wait until death is near.
