Readings for the Week of April 12
April 12, 2020: Easter Sunday
Today’s gospel instructs us Jesus “had to rise
from the dead.” The dying we experience with
unmet expectations in marriage and parenting is
normal to family life. Families must rise above
disappointments and be Easter people all year
long.
A Family Perspective by Bud Ozar
My Jesus, I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy
Sacrament. I love You above
all things, and I desire to re-
ceive You into my soul. Since I
cannot at this moment re-
ceive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into
my heart. I embrace You as if
You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Prayer & Reflection — What was it like for the disciple who had stood at the cross of Jesus and then laid him in a
tomb on Good Friday, to come back three days later and discover that the sealed tomb was now
empty? John, along with Peter, was the first apostle to reach the tomb of Jesus on Easter Sunday
morning. Like Mary Magdalene and the other disciples, John was not ready to see an empty tomb
and to hear the angel's message, Why do you seek the living among the dead?
John had to first deal with the empty tomb before he could meet the risen Lord later that
evening along with the other apostles who had locked themselves in the upper room out of fear
of the Jewish authorities. John testified as an eye-witness to the life, death, and resurrection of
Jesus Christ: What we have seen, heard, and touched we proclaim as the eternal word of life which
existed from the beginning. John bears witness to what has existed from all eternity. This "word of
life" is Jesus the word incarnate, but also Jesus as the word announced by the prophets and Jesus
the word now preached throughout the Christian church for all ages to come.
One thing is certain, if Jesus had not risen from the dead and appeared to his disciples, we
would never have heard of him. Nothing else could have changed sad and despairing men and
women into people radiant with joy and courage. The reality of the resurrection is the central
fact of the Christian faith. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Lord gives us "eyes of faith" to
know him and the power of his resurrection. The greatest joy we can have is to encounter the
living Christ and to know him personally as our Lord and Savior. Do you accept the good news
of Jesus' death and resurrection with skeptical doubt and disbelief or with trusting faith and joyful
wonderment?
"Lord Jesus Christ, you have triumphed over the grave and you have won for us new life and
resurrection power. Give me the eyes of faith to see you in your glory. Help me to draw near to
you and to grow in the knowledge of your great love for us and your great victory over sin and
death."

An Easter Message from Father Ayub
Happy Easter.
Today we celebrate the great event of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Having completed our Lenten journey with our families at home because of Corona Virus, we are prepared to celebrate
the Paschal Mystery and we now enter the Easter Season in which the Christian community of the world rejoices at the
victory of Jesus over sin and death and enter into the life of grace that has been given to us through our baptism.
The next 50 days the church will celebrate the Easter events and will try to live the life Jesus Christ has won for us
through his suffering and death on the cross. Jesus invites us to live in his making, through our participation in his
resurrected life, in order to build the kingdom of God in the world.
Jesus Christ, the light of the world, is life, source of joy and all hope. I extend to each one of you, my prayers, and Easter blessing. I pray that
this Easter will fill your homes with the joy of new and everlasting life. Spend time rejoicing in the Lord, follow the Lord in all things and trust
in His mercy and providence. Jesus is risen, Alleluia. In the joy of these words, I wish you all a
blessed and Happy Easter. May the Easter Season bring peace, hope and healing.
He is risen Alleluia!
Yours in Jesus Christ,
Fr. Ayub Francis Nasar
Lord, the resurrection of Your Son has given us new life and
renewed hope. Help us to live as new people in pursuit of the
Christian ideal. Grant us wisdom to know what we must do, the
will to want to do it, the courage to undertake it, the
perseverance to continue to do it, and the strength to complete it.
Amen.
