The Parish Evangelization Process
The Light Of The World Evangelization Process
is a powerful plan for evangelization and
renewal within an individual parish.
Embracing the profound words of Pope Paul
VI that evangelism is the “essential mission”
and “deepest identity” of the Church, Light
Of The World answers the call of Pope John
Paul II for a “new evangelization” by
empowering the laity of a parish to be
evangelized and to evangelize others.
Light Of The World reaches out to every
member of a parish no matter where they
are in their faith journey, inviting them to a
deeper relationship with our Lord and a
greater knowledge of their faith, and
supporting them in their renewed
commitment.
The heart of evangelization is a living
encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ. The
Kerygmatic Retreat facilitates this heart-felt
encounter through: 1) A fundamental
proclamation of the profound Gospel
message; and 2) Providing for a renewal of
the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism,
Confirmation, and Eucharist). As a necessary
step in renewing these sacraments and
facilitating a closer relationship with our Lord,
special attention is paid to personal healing
through Confession and Reconciliation.
Light of the World is not merely a renewal
retreat. Rather, the process provides the
opportunity for the retreatants to enter into
Small Faith Sharing Communities that
promote adult faith formation through
prayer, spiritual edification and study of our
faith. It also provides a vehicle for reaching
out to members of the parish who have
limited or no involvement in their Parish.

Light of the WorldWeekend No.1November 14-17,2014
Light of the World came to Saint Malachy Parish in
November of 2014, and was enthusiastically received.
Those who attended have not stopped talking about
how it has enriched their spiritual lives. Following soon
after Weekend No. 1, most of the retreatants began
grouping. Now they are anxious to share the experience
with others. They are telling their friends, as word of
mouth (first hand) is the very best witness. Come Holy
Spirit, fill the hearts of the new retreatants and invigorate
our faith, now and forever.

LUKE 24: 13 -35Now that very day two of them were going to a village
seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they
were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
And it happened that while they were conversing and
debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with
them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing
him.
He asked them, “What are you discussing as you walk
along?” They stopped, looking downcast. One of them,
named Cleopas, said to him in reply, “Are you the only
visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things
that have taken place there in these days?” And he
replied to them, “What sort of things?” They said to
him, “The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene,
who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before
God and all the people, how our chief priests and
rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death
and crucified him. But we were hoping that he would
be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is
now the third day since this took place. Some women
from our group, however, have astounded us: they
were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find
his body; they came back and reported that they had
indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he
was alive. Then some of those with us went to the
tomb and found things just as the women had
described, but him they did not see.”
And he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are! How
slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke!
Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer
these things and enter into his glory?” Then beginning
with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them
what referred to him in all the scriptures. As they
approached the village to which they were going, he
gave the impression that he was going on farther. But
they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening
and the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with
them. And it happened that, while he was with them at
table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and
gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and
they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts
burning [within us] while he spoke to us on the way and
opened the scriptures to us?” So they set out at once
and returned to Jerusalem where they found gathered
together the eleven and those with them who were
saying, “The Lord has truly been raised and has
appeared to Simon!” Then the two recounted what had
taken place on the way and how he was made known
to them in the breaking of the bread.

The light shone in and pierced the darkness.
The Word became flesh and made His home.
He opened the doors to salvation
For all who call upon the Lord.
And You are the Light of the World, O Lord
You died and rose to set us free.
Yes, God so loved the world
That He gave His only Son
So all may live eternally
If you believe in your heart that God raised Him,
If you confess with your lips that He is Lord
Then the Lord of Light shall shine upon you.
And you’ll be saved by His love outpoured.
And You are the Light of the World, O Lord
You died and rose to set us free.
Yes, God so loved the world
That He gave His only Son
So all may live eternally
A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
The light is there to Guide the way.
So keep your lamps burning brightly.
They’ll see your love and give God praise.
And You are the Light of the World, O Lord
You died and rose to set us free.
Yes, God so loved the world
That He gave His only Son
So all may live eternally
We are the light of the world, Oh Lord
Shining bright for all to see.
Yes God so loved the world that He gave His only Son
So all may live eternally
So all may live eternally

“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt
loses its taste, with what can it be
seasoned? It is no longer good for
anything but to be thrown out and
trampled underfoot. You are the light of
the world. A city set on a mountain
cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a
lamp and then put it under a bushel
basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it
gives light to all in the house. Just so, your
light must shine before others, that they
may see your good deeds and glorify your
heavenly Father.
Go, be a Light that brings others to CHRIST !
