National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Next week, May 13 & 14, our parish will participate in a national collection for the Trinity Dome to complete the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., before its 100th anniversary. Also known as America’s Catholic Church, the National Shrine has been a century in the making, built by and for the faithful of our great nation in honor of our Blessed Mother, the patroness of the United States. Become a part of Mary’s Shrine and help to bring to completion our church! For more information: www.trinitydome.org.

MISSION STATEMENT
As a community of believers in Jesus Christ and in Communion with the universal church,
we strive to follow the Lord’s command to love God and one another. Rooted in word and sacrament,
we grow together as a Eucharistic community inviting all to the Good News of Jesus.

ALTAR CARE
The celebration of the Eucharist
is at the center of parish life. We are a
Eucharistic Community. Liturgical
Ministers assist the priest and
community in this celebration – lectors,
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy
Communion, Ushers, Music Ministers,
Altar Servers. Yet, we often overlook
another important ministry – those who
care for the altar linens. Although not
seen at the liturgy itself, these women
keep the altar linens clean and worthy of
use at the altar. They wash and iron
linens and keep them in good condition.
These dedicated women are
always looking for volunteers. Their
ministry is done at home, taking the
soiled linens and returning them to the
sacristy ready for use.
Would you like to help this
important ministry? Give the rectory a
call and ask for Valerie.

BAPTISM PROGRAM
When preparing for the Baptism of your child, parents must attend a Pre-Baptism Class.
Godparents are welcome and encouraged to attend. The class is held once a month usually on
the third Monday night of the month at 7:30pm. The Baptismal Liturgy is usually celebrated
on the second and fourth Sunday of the month at 3pm. No Baptism can take place until the
church receives a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate as required by the diocese. If you
are planning a Baptism, please note the following dates:
Baptism Class Baptism Sunday
May 8 May 7 & 21
June 19 June 11 & 25
July 17 July 9 & 23
August 21 August 13 & 27
September 18 September 10 & 24
When considering godparents, please understand that a Godparent should:
1. be a firm and enthusiastic believer, ready, willing, and able
to help his or her godchild live a Christian life.
2. be at least sixteen years old.
3. lead a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be undertaken.
4. have received all three Sacraments: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
5. not be the child’s parent.

SAINT LUKE SCHOOL ART EXHIBITION
On Tuesday, May 2nd, Mrs. Brunswick, Mrs. Jones, and the students at Saint Luke School were proud to participate in the first annual Art Exhibition. Each student had a framed painting in our “museum” to show off. Parents and staff were so impressed by the variety of styles, colors, and techniques used by our budding artists. Their beautiful artwork was also available for purchase as a school fundraiser for our Art program. We look forward to many more exhibitions to come!
