again honored with the Award of Excellence for being a
Top Performing School by the Professional Regulation
Commission (PRC) in the August 2015 Physician Licensure
Examination. This is SLU’s sixth consecutive Award of
Excellence from the PRC for exemplary performance in
the Medical Board Examination.

Towards Zero Poverty. Mr. Dennis C. Maglanoc, Jr. (4th year Business
Economics student from the SABM) with Dr. Cielito Habito (former Director General of the National Economic Development Authority and a consultant from the Ateneo de Manila University) and Ms. Gladys M. Navarro (Professor from the Business Economics Department) during the “Towards Zero Poverty” Symposium on September 23, 2015 at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel hosted by the Asian Institute of Management’s (AIM) Rizalino S. Navarro Policy Center for Competitiveness. The said symposium was well-attended by multi-sectoral groups, the academe, the government, and non-government organizations. SLU-SABM and the AIM have an existing MOU on Research and were able to come up with several research outputs since 2013 under the Pinoy Youth Barometer Survey.
BBEAL 29th Season. The new season of the Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League (BBEAL) Season 29 was formally opened on October 10, 2015 at the University of the Cordilleras Gymnasium with Baguio Central University hosting the event. The participating Schools are the SLU Navigators, UB Cardinals, UC Jaguars, UP-Baguio Maroons, PMA Cavaliers, BCU Eagles, BCT Atoms, BSU Wild Cats, CCDC Admirals, PCC Warriors and the Kings College of the Philippines (KCP) Lanchers making their debut in the league this year. Dr. Mariano D. Marchan, Jr. (Education Specialist II, CHEd-CAR) represented the Office of the Commission on Higher Education - CAR, and graced the dynamic event with theme: “Eleven but One… Towards Excellence in Sports.” Last year, defending champion, SLU Navigators, finished with 11 gold, 10 silver, and 3 bronze medals. KUL Clerkship at the SLU Hospital of the Sacred Heart. The 15th batch of medical students from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL), Belgium, arrived in SLU to undertake their 3-month Clerkship at the SLU Hospital of the Sacred Heart for the AY 2015-2016. Statistics for Policy-making. The Progressive Economists’ Solidarity (PESO), an organization of SLU Economics students, has opened its doors to the Regional Statistical Committee (RSC) by conducting several activities during the PESO Week which was opened on October 5, 2015. Taking off from the National Statistics Month’s theme, “Pagyamanin at Gamitin ang Estadistika, Kalusugan para sa lahat ay Abot kamay na,” the organizers of the PESO Week highlighted the use of Statistics, the role of Economists, and local and international programs that may affect students and their future decisions.
