CHURCH SUPPORT Due to early bulletin deadlines, March 27/28 collections will be reported the weekend of April 10/11th.
From the Desk of Fr. Lagiovane I received word from Cardinal Dolan’s Office that he is unable to come to celebrate our 175th Anniversary Mass with us on May 1st .
While we were looking forward to the Cardinal’s visit Bishop Colacicco has been gracious to offer to celebrate this special Mass on Saturday, June 5th at 5 pm. The feast of Corpus Christi-The Body and Blood of Christ. It will be the regular scheduled Vigil Mass.
I hope in the future to invite Cardinal Dolan for a Mass and reception.
SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS
Next weekend the second collection will be for Capital Improvements/Projects.
Good business practice dictates that funds regularly be set aside for the express purpose of costly maintenance or necessary and sometimes unexpected improvements. Like any other home, things begin to wear out over time and will ultimately need repair or replacement.
This collection will begin a special fund that will be used expressly for future major projects like parking lot updating, curb repair and other costly items. This fund will allow the parish to properly prepare for the eventual repair and replacement of significant items without disrupting the routine operating budget. Those of you who are familiar with the different condo budgets in Heritage Hills are accustomed to seeing a line item designated for capital reserve funding.
Once again, we are grateful for your prayerful consideration of this request.
The Bread and Wine That will be used this week will be

Sunday of Divine Mercy April 11, 2021
The Second Sunday of Easter is also Sunday of Divine Mercy. To observe this special day, there will be Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament as well as Recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00PM in St Joseph’s Church.
FOOD PANTRY Our monthly food drive for the pantry at the Com-munity Center of Northern Westchester will take place next weekend (April 10/11). The items most in need are: toothpaste, shampoo, soap, macaroni & cheese, hearty soups, and peanut butter. Last month's collection was 1,153 pounds of much needed food. Thank you for your continued outpouring of generosity towards our neighbors in need. Remem-ber, no donation is too small.
From the Desk of Fr. Lagiovane

GUIDELINES FOR THOSE BECOMING
SPONSORS FOR
BAPTISM & CONFIRMATION
It is a great honor and privilege to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a godparent is a sacred duty. You become the “other parent” in the ways of faith. That is why the Church requires sponsors to be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older ( 14 years old in the Archdiocese of NY) having received Confirmation and are living a good Christian moral life. If a sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Catholic marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. Two sponsors are customary for Baptism, in which case one must be a male and the other a female.
If you are to receive a sponsor certificate from one of the parish priests, the individual must be a current parishioner, (you need to be registered at least 6 months for a sponsor certificate to be issued) and known to the priest as being a practicing Catholic, attending Mass regularly. Those persons away at college, graduate school or in the military should seek a certificate from their campus minister or chaplain. It is important for all individuals to be ac-tive members of their local Catholic faith communi-ties.
A baptized non- Catholic may replace the 2nd bap-tism sponsor as a Christian Witness. A Catholic cannot act as a Christian Witness. A non-Christian cannot act as a Christian Witness. Former Catholics may not be a Sponsor.
If you are in need of a sponsor certificate please see one of the priests after any of our weekend Masses.
