Welcome to Saint John’s
W e are blessed that you have joined us in our worship of Jesus Christ.
At Saint John’s we worship in the Anglican Tradition; fostering a
place where forgiveness, conversion and spiritual renewal can evolve;
enabling Christian formation to help us grow that our life may be
consecrated to God’s work. We pray that you have found us faithful in our
witness of His Love and you will make Saint John’s your spiritual home.
Receiving Holy Communion
All visitors who have been baptized with water, in the name of the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit, and who have been admitted to Communion in their
own church are welcome to share the Holy Eucharist. We are all called to
repent of our sins and to approach the Holy Communion as an expression
of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ. When you come forward to receive
the Holy Body and the Precious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, please
approach the Altar Rail in prayer. Cross your right hand over your left that
the sacred Host may be laid in the palm of your right hand. When the
Chalice is offered, help guide it (if necessary) to your lips. When your
communion is complete, pause to give thanks before returning to your seat.
If you are not receiving Communion today, you are most welcome to come
to the Altar Rail for a blessing; simply cross your arms over your heart.
Ladies wearing lipstick, please remember to blot your lips before coming forward
for Communion if you desire to receive directly from the chalice. (If you generally
receive by intinction, of course, this is not necessary.) Thank you! — St. John’s
Altar Guild
If you receive Holy Communion by Intinction
If you make your communion by intinction (which is dipping the Host in
Consecrated Wine), our Bishop asks that you retain the Host in the palm of
your hand after receiving it, and the priest, deacon or lay minister will
touch it to the Wine and place it on your tongue.
A Private Prayer before receiving Holy Communion
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, by the will of the Father and the
work of the Holy Spirit Your death brought life to the world. By Your
Holy Body and Blood free me from all my sins and from every evil. Keep
me faithful to Your teaching, and never let me be parted from You. Amen.
A Private Prayer after receiving Holy Communion
Lord Jesus Christ, may I receive these precious gifts in purity of heart.
May Your Body and Blood bring me healing and strength, now and for
ever. Amen.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, the program that we use at St. John’s for preK- elementary age children, is a beautiful Christ-centered environment in which the children and catechists pray and work in the atrium.
“The atrium is a community in which the children and adults live together a religious experience which facilitates participation in the wider community of the family, the church and other social spheres.
The atrium is a place of prayer, in which work and study spontaneously become meditation, contemplation and prayer.
The atrium is a place in which the only Teacher is Christ; both children and adults place themselves in a listening stance before his Word and seek to penetrate the mystery of the liturgical celebration.” (32 Points of Reflection www.cgsusa.org)
We would like to invite children who are new to the atrium to join us Sunday, August 19th, 26th, and September 2nd for a time of orientation beginning at 10:15am. All classes will resume on September 9th, our first day of Sunday School! If you have questions, please contact Lisa Estes at 817.600.8552 or email: [email protected]

Announcements
Guest Organist Please join us in welcoming our guest organist, Susan Fuchs, who is filling in while Alan and Vivian Potts are on vacation.
Adopt-a-door Would you be able to adopt-a-door and help us pay to refinish and restore our outside doors? We are in the process of doing just that. Philip Stanback is doing the work. He is sanding the solid oak doors down and properly restoring and refinishing each one. It costs us roughly $300.00 to fully finish one door. Can you adopt-a-door? If not any part of that will help us out a great deal. You can make your contribution online from our Parish Website. Go to www.stjohnsfortworth.com and click on “Online Giving” from the front page. Find the option “Adopt-a-Door”. Thank you so much, Gerald Gregory, Jr. Warden.
Support by Text-Giving You can make any contribution to St John’s using your smart phone. It’s extremely easy and very secure. All you do is text the amount you would like to give to the number assigned to St. John’s, which is 1-817-477-6437. Put this number in your directory or address book in your phone for future use. The first time you text this number ,you will be prompted to visit a secure web address. Once you are registered, you will not need to repeat this step with future text-giving. After completing the registration follow the directions to make your donation. You will immediately receive a confirmation text showing your donation was successful.
Please remember you can also give online by visiting our website at www.stjohnsfortworth.com and clicking on “Online Giving.”
