Dear Parishioners,
Greetings in the Risen Lord!
Our Community Gardens - The Easter season is going fast, the spring season is here. I am hoping to beautify a bit our grounds at St. John’s. You are all invited to share your horticultural talents as it is the planting season. While we are preparing the flower beds, I have ventured to move the statues in the garden for better visibility and appreciation. I felt that while the statues were facing the gardens and the person praying facing the street, it was not a conducive atmosphere to sit quiet and pray. The memorial bricks got buried in mud and shrubs. The relocation of the statues and the memorial bricks surely enhance our gardens and give them greater visibility and utility. I invite all who are interested in gardening to get involved! Parents are requested to encourage your children to expose them to the plants and mother earth. We are to take care of this beautiful earth, entrusted to us, as Pope Francis is exhorting us. We can plant flowers and vegetables. I am open for your input and help. Let us get excited and enthusiastic in beautifying our churches and mother nature. This is one way of servicing Earth Day. Sincerely, Father Thomas Kallumady Pastor
Next weekend we will have a 2nd collection for
the Church in central and Eastern Europe. Please be Generous!

Congratulations To the children and their parents on
the reception of First Holy Communion
at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church
on Saturday April 23rd, 2016.
During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, we are called to help one another and be merciful, as Jesus is for all of us. As we celebrate the risen Lord, let us continue to think of the sacrifice that He made for us. Your sacrifice can continue to help your brothers and sisters across the Archdiocese of New York. Our parish goal is $117,000. To date our parish has received $57,226 in pledges/gifts toward the 2016 Cardinal’s Appeal, from 152 families. For this Appeal to be truly successful, we must have support from all of our families. The Appeal is a vital source of funding for the programs and ministries that sustain the parishes across our Archdiocese. It is not too late to make your gift. Please be as generous as you can. Thank you for the continued sacrifice. Please be sure to note Parish #563 on all donations.

~ Columna del Pastor~
Estimados Feligreses,
