Devotions and Sacramentals Rosary: In the Church—The Spanish Rosary is on Tues-day evenings at 6:30 p.m. The Rosary in English is on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Eucharistic Adoration: Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel. A sign up sheet is below the statue of Pope Saint John Paul II.

Baptism: All baptisms will take place at Visitation Church the 1st & 3rd Sunday after 9:30 a.m. Mass. Please call the parish office to schedule a time. A free-will donation should be given to the clergy performing the baptism. Additionally, non-members will be charged $50. Baptism classes are the 3rd Sunday @ 10:30 a.m. in English and the 4th Sunday @ 8:45 a.m. in Spanish.

Marriage: Contact the Pastor at least 6 to 12 months in advance to schedule a wedding and begin marriage preparations.

Reconciliation: Saturday, from 3:30 p.m.—4:10 p.m. and Sunday, 9:00 a.m.—9:15 a.m. in the Church or call the Parish office for an appointment.

Visitation & Anointing of the Sick: Any person home-bound, hospitalized, in the nursing home or advanced in years may notify the Parish Office to receive the Sacraments: Eucharist, Confession/Reconciliation, and Anointing of the Sick. Parishioners from the Pastoral Care Ministry would be glad to visit. We also offer Friday Communion Calls to the Homebound. Please call the Parish Office if you or someone you know would like to be visited monthly.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA): Anyone wishing to learn more about the Catholic faith or join-ing our Catholic community may call or email the par-ish office.

Religious Education Kindergarten through 8th grade CCD classes meet on Sunday mornings from 10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. from September to May. Children should participate in all levels of Religious Education classes so that they can re-ceive the Sacraments with their peers. Please arrive through the West doors (back of the school) in the parking lot. Dismissal is on the East side (front of the school) on Lexington Ave. Please call Angie Ryan in the Parish Office if you have any questions or would like to register.

Empower Illinois Scholarship

The applications for the 2018/2019 Empower Illinois tax credit scholarships will begin on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The application will again be a two step process and applications will be received on a first come first served basis. Trivia Night The 7th Annual Visitation Catholic School Trivia Night will be held on Satur-day, January 26th, at 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) Cost is $80 per team (8 person team) with a cash prize awarded to the top 3 teams. There will also be a 50/50 drawing, games and door prizes. A cash bar will be available (no outside drinks please) and you are welcome to bring your own snacks. Must be 18 to attend. Gift Card Orders Weekly gift card orders will resume on Tuesday, January 8th. Orders are placed every Tuesday at 8:00am and are ready to pick up on Thursday after 3:00pm in the school office. BINGO The next BINGO will be on January 16, 2019. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:00 p.m. Concessions are available for purchase. Lightning Jackpot is $3,800. BINGO is played the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month.

Just before Christmas, the 1st grade class took a ride aboard the Polar Express! They wore their pajamas to school and had to get their golden ticket punched by our conductor, Mr. Nichols, to enter their classroom. It was a fun day of learning in 1st grade!

Save the Date! The Visitation Catholic School Spring Fling Dinner/Auction will be held on Saturday, April 6th. This is al-ways a fun evening with dinner served, a silent and live auction and more! More information coming soon!

Prison Ministry Our Saint John Paul II Altar and Rosary Society’s Wom-en’s Prison Ministry is an on-going project. The follow-ing items are being collected for donation to aid wom-en inmates at the Logan Correctional Center at Lincoln, Illinois.

Toiletries (hotel size or larger; no toothbrushes, no perfume, no items containing alcohol,) combs, small magazines like Guidepost, soft cover bibles, prayer cards , inspirational pamphlets (interdenominational,) calendars, bookmarks (paper only,) note pads, station-ery, blank occasional cards in envelopes for the resi-dents to send, unsigned Christmas cards in envelopes.

New or gently used storybooks, crayons and coloring books, and playing cards are also being collected for the playroom for use by children visiting their mothers at the prison.

If you have items to donate, please place them in the container labeled “Altar & Rosary Prison Ministry Do-nations” at the back of the church or bring them to the monthly Altar and Rosary Society meetings.

Sanctity of Human Life On January 24, The Sanctity of Human Life March and Rally sponsored by Central Illinois Right to Life, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Riverside Church parking lot, 207 NE Monroe St., then will proceed to the Federal Court-house. After the March, the group will return to River-side Church for the Rally with speaker, Melissa Coles, a birthmother from the documentary “I Lived on Parker Ave.,” who will dramatize her experience of changing her mind and not going through with an abortion.
