Pastor’s Message
Thank you from Fr. Dan No, I have not lost it ,but...in case you were not here last weekend, here is my thank you again! I have been
overwhelmed by the love, kindness and support that all of you have lavished on me for my 25th Anniversary
celebration! At all the Masses your congratulations and well wishes were greatly appreciated. Last Sunday was an
event I will cherish…connecting with relatives and friends with which I shared many wonderful memories and my new
friends from the St. John Neumann community that have welcomed me warmly over the past year and who I am
looking forward to getting to know even better. Thank you for sharing with me this most momentous and sacred
event in my life either through your personal congratulations, presence, a card, a gift, an e-mail, telephone call, or
other mode of communication—each is special to me. If you came to the reception and I was not able to talk with
you, thank you for your understanding. It truly was a wonderful gathering.

“I Just Want to Help”: Supporting our community with Mental Health
Concerns Social Hall at St. John Neumann
June 7th 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
We all experience times in our lives when we are struggling and can benefit from support. When those needs are beyond the capacity of our current support systems, it is helpful to draw on additional resources
and approaches. Dr. Lesley Huff, PsyD from Samaritan counseling Center will present on how to identify
when we or someone we care for is in need of additional supports for their emotional and mental
wellbeing as well as ways in which we can continue to be a loving presence in their lives.

We have missed visiting several of our parishioners because we were not notified by the hospital’s Pastoral Staff office that they were admitted. It is important for you to tell the staff on your floor that you want your parish notified about your admission. This will enable our parish nurse/pastoral staff to contact you. You will also be able to get Holy Communion regularly while you are in the hospital if the Pastoral Office has you on their list.

What’s Happening in Religious Education
Registration for Religious Education and EDGE 2017-2018 will open online at our website at 9:00am on Monday, June 12, 2017! Space is limited, so be sure you sign up!
Why Do Catholics Do That: Epiclesis? At every Mass, after we sing the Holy, Holy, Holy and kneel, the priest begins a lengthy prayer: the Canon of the Mass, also called the Eucharistic Prayer. The priest praises God as the fountain of all holiness, and then prays the Epiclesis before the consecration of the bread and wine. The Epiclesis is the “invocation” or the “calling down from on high,” the Holy Spirit, by Whose power the bread and wine are changed into the Body and Blood of Jesus. The Holy Spirit comes down, so that when the priest (by virtue of another Sacrament) says Jesus’ words, This is my body, and This is the chalice of my blood, the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus. Every Sacrament is a material sign that is transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit – Jesus Christ instituted these Sacraments and entrusted them to the Church for distribution so that we can have the grace of God. The Holy Spirit has an important role to play in our lives, and an epiclesis is present in the prayer of every Sacrament. May we who receive the Body and Blood of Jesus be made holy for His glory.
News from St. Anne
School
Our Parish School Fr. Dan Powell, Executive Pastor,
St. Anne School
Thanks to an overwhelming number of applicants, St. Anne School has opened an additional Pre-K4 class for the 2017-2018 school year. Registration information can be found on the school website at www.stannelancaster.org. Check it out and schedule your tour today!
Beginning the week of Monday, June 5th, the school office will be closed on Mondays and Fridays. The office will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. But, a good rule of thumb in the summer is to call ahead and make sure the office is open.
All registered students for grades 1-8 should have received a reading list and a math packet to be completed over the summer. This will help your child maintain the reading and math skills that were developed this school year. Math packets and reading work will be due back on Monday, August 28th, the first day of school.
Registrations are now being accepted at St. Anne School for the 2017-2018 school year. Please contact the school office at 394-6711 for a school tour, “shadowing” opportunities for students, or information about the school including registration packets. You can also check us out at www.stannelancaster.org for more information! We would love to welcome you into the St. Anne School family!
