ARRANGING BAPTISM Baptism First (Spanish) and Last (English) Sundays each month. Call Parish Center to arrange. Before date is confirmed, parents must have/obtain:
Registration in SJB Parish: Family from another parish must obtain written permission from “home” parish for Baptism at SJB. Certificate of Eligibility to Serve as Sponsor: Each Catholic Sponsor (1 required; 2 preferred) must obtain Certificate of Eligibility from “home” parish. Parishes generally do not issue certificates to persons not already registered nor to persons who left the parish more than 6 months previously.
Letter from Pastor for Christian Witness: One baptized non-Catholic may serve as a Christian Witness and must present Letter of Good Standing from current Christian pastor. A Catholic not eligible to Sponsor may not be Christian Witness.
ARRANGING MARRIAGE
Wedding Planning begins with engaged couple’s meeting a parish priest here at least six (6) months before desired wedding date. Please do not make financial commitments before confirming church date/time.
If a member of the couple was previously married, a Declaration of Nullity (Annulment) of the prior marriage may be necessary. Please contact parish priest for detailed information.
Marriage Convalidation Couples in a civil or non-Catholic religious union without our Church’s explicit permission are not in a valid Catholic marriage. They cannot receive other sacraments or serve as Catholic Sponsors for Baptism and Confirmation. This situation often is easily remedied by “convalidation”, a simple ceremony popularly called “getting a marriage blessed”. Call Parish Center to arrange.

A THOUGHT As we grow older, and hence wiser, we slowly realize that wearing a $300 or $30 watch - they both tell the same time...
Whether we carry a $300 or $30 wallet/handbag - the amount of money inside is the same.
Whether we drink a bottle of $300 or $10 wine - the hangover is the same.
Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3000 sq. ft. - loneliness is the same.
You will realize, your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world.
Whether you fly first or economy class, we will all arrive at the same time.
Therefore, I hope you realize, when you have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, who you chat with, laugh with, talk with, sing songs with, talk about north-south-east-west or heaven & earth,.....
That is true happiness!! FIVE UNDENIABLE FACTS OF LIFE:
1. Don't educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy. So when they grow up they will know the value of things not the price.
2. Best wise words: "Eat your food as your medicines. Otherwise you have to eat medicines as your food."
3. The one who loves you will never leave you because even if there are 100 reasons to give up he or she will find one reason to hold on.
4. There is a big difference between a human being and being human. Only a few really understand it.
5. You are loved when you are born. You will be loved when you die. In between, you have to manage!
6. If you just want to walk fast, walk alone! But if you want to walk far, walk together! SIX BEST DOCTORS IN THE WORLD:
1. Sunlight
2. Rest
3. Exercise
4. Diet
5. Self Confidence
6. Friends
And, finally: The nicest place to be is in someone’s thoughts, the safest place to be is in someone’s prayers, the very best place
to be is, IN THE HANDS OF GOD

lots of fun and informative displays at the Fall Festival in
September. Each month a delicious Portuguese recipe will be published in our bulletin so you can travel to & experience the unique paradise of Portugal without setting foot on a plane!
Malasadas (Portugal donuts) are a traditional Portuguese dessert deep fried and coated with sugar. The pastry is prepared on Holidays such as, Easter, Christmas, New Years, and at many celebrations and family gatherings. Ingredients: 1/2 c warm water 2 pkg active dry yeast 1/2 c lukewarm milk 1/2 c sugar 1/2 c butter 2 beaten eggs 1 tsp salt 4 to 5 c flour Vegetable oil Directions: Pour warm water into mixing bowl & add dry yeast, stirring to dissolve. Stir in milk, sugar, but-ter, eggs, salt & 3 1/2 cups flour; mix with wooden spoon until smooth. Gradually add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough that can be easily handled. Mix by hand & turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. Knead until smooth & elastic (8-10 minutes). Place in a cleaned & greased bowl & allow to rise until dough doubles in size. Heat oil to 375°F. Break a piece of dough into size desired. Stretch out & drop into hot oil. Fry until golden then roll in granulated sugar.

Join us in celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima
Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence opportunity for the 100th Anniversary of the Fatima apparitions. At St. John Bosco we will be offering the faithful an opportunity to gain this indulgence on the 13th of each
month from May- October 2017.
The requirements for this indulgence are to pray before a statue of Our Lady of Fatima solemnly exposed for public veneration on the 13th of each month from May to October 2017 and devoutly par-
ticipate in a celebration of prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary. This must include the Our Father, the Creed and invoking Our Lady of Fatima.
To obtain any indulgence, the faithful must also fulfill the ordinary conditions: go to Confession and Communion within a week , be interiorly detached from sin, and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.
You may join us at the formal prayer opportunities or use the booklets to pray on your own and venerate the statue on the 13th of the month May—October 2017. A schedule is given below.
Help is needed Thurs., Aug. 10,
to take the festival supplies out of
Storage. We will meet in the gym at 6PM. Strong
arms and additional carts a plus. Many hands make light work.
Thanks in advance for your
assistance.

33 Days to Morning Glory
All it takes is 15 minutes a day for 33 days to deepen your relationship with
Jesus through Mary!
What is Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary? The basic premise set forth by St. Louis Marie de Montfort is simply that Jesus
came into the world through Mary and that to be closer to Jesus, we should go through Mary as well.
Consecration means to set aside for a sacred purpose. Mary’s life was set aside
for the sole purpose of serving our Lord. By following her example, we, too, can completely give ourselves to Christ in a fundamental way that consecrates us to Him. Total Consecration will
increase your spirituality and ability to truly serve our Lord Jesus Christ. We will be using the updated version of Consecration by Fr. Michael E. Gaitley called “33 Days to Morning Glory.”
2 WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:
1 – Free - Download the free App “What’s App” to your smart phone and follow the directions for registering with the app. Fill out the sign up paper and give us your cell phone number. (We won’t use it for any other purpose) We will text your cell phone # with information and then invite you into the prayer group. Each evening beginning September 4 you will receive the written reflection and an audio of the reflection for the following day.
2 - For $ 5.00 you can order the 33 Days to Glory Magazine which will have each days reflections. You begin the reflections on September 4 and continue through Oct. 6 with consecration on Oct. 7. Please return interest form no later than August 15 to the PREP office or in the collection basket. We will gather at the 4PM Mass on Sat., Oct. 7 to recite our consecration as a group.
