FOR THE RIDE HOME First Reading: Ex 17: 3-7 Second Reading: Rom 5: 1-2, 5-8

Gospel: Jn 4: 5-42

How does water remind you of God's life-giving Spirit?

One small conversation became a moment of revelation and salvation. A few chosen words overcame social prejudice and bridged God to a lost soul. Our moments of small conver-sation can connect others to God only if we allow God to speak through us.

How can you get out of God's way and allow his Spirit to speak through you in your everyday affairs?

Now we are blessed with the opportunity to turn to our Heavenly Mother Mary to ask for her support and guidance, and thank her for the many blessings she has given us. Every Wednesday after 9:00 AM mass (at 9:30), you are invited to join us as we pray the rosary to ask for her help and guidance and to thank her for her abounding love.

IT'S ALMOST SPRING & IF YOU HAVE A KINDERGARTENER THIS YEAR, TIME TO

ENROLL THEM IN RELIGIOUS FORMATION CLASSES..................

Formal classes begin in first grade. There is a two-year preparation for First Communion which is normally received in the spring of second grade.

However, we do offer an Older class for those who never attended and are above second grade.

Sign up for new students/families takes place in early June. Residence within the parish

boundaries is required or if outside the boundaries, registration for two years as a

parishioner is necessary. Because of a LACK OF SPACE for classes, these boundary issues are

necessary. For more details about how our Religious

Formation program is conducted, please see our parish website at: www.steas.org/Religious

Formation.

Dear Parishioners,

The 2017 Catholic Ministries Appeal is underway and we have already received pledges. Hopefully, many

more families will be able to make a contribution to this years Catholic Ministries Appeal so we will be able

to reach our goal $51,100. This effort is much more than a yearly fundraiser that supports the ministries and

programs of our Church. It is an expression of our love for one another.

Thanks to your generosity, we received $51,256 in pledges to the 2016 Catholic Ministries Appeal. Your

donations help meet the needs of people in the Diocese of Rockville Centre and in our own parish. This mon-

ey helps the poor and the elderly, supports health services, education and counseling programs for people of

all ages. It provides for religious education for priests and seminarians, for meals-on-wheels, for chaplain ser-

vices in hospitals, college campuses and county jails, along with many more ministries intended to help

those less fortunate on Long Island. Finally our parish receives a cash rebate which last year amounted to

more than $10,000. This money helps offset expenses needed to run our parish and the many programs we

offer.

God has blessed each of us with so many gifts-our families, friends, talents, abilities, in fact our very lives are

gifts from God. As good stewards we recognize that all blessings come from the Lord and that these

blessings are to be used to serve all God’s children.

Let’s welcome our new bishop, The Most Reverend John Barres, by making a pledge to this years Catholic

Ministries Appeal. The programs and services supported by the Appeal have a significant impact on

hundreds of thousands of parishioners throughout our Diocese.

I know these are difficult times and everyone’s financial situation is different, for those families that can

afford it, please consider making a pledge at this time. You have until January 31st, 2018 to pay off your

pledge. No down payment is necessary. The Diocese will send monthly reminders. Keep in mind this is not a

legal document. If you feel you cannot keep up your payments, simply discontinue them.

To help you decide here are some suggested gift plans: **$100 pledge—$10 per month ** $50 pledge—$5 per month

**One time payment = $20.00

Whatever you are able to give, large or small, will be accepted gratefully. Please keep in mind your gift is

payable over ten months. To make a pledge, simply fill out the form below and place it in the collection basket or mail it back to the

parish office. Thank you for your support and continued generosity.
