RESTROOM RENOVATIONS – Work will begin on a total
renovation of the Ladies restroom and the Men’s restroom
located in Hayes Hall starting on Monday, June 8th. The reno-
vation of the restrooms located in the priest sacristy and the
ministers sacristy has been completed. The renovation of all of our church restrooms was long overdue. These facilities are
constantly in use and therefore an important part of our build-
ing. Of course this renovation is costly and yet needs to be
done despite the regular expenses we must address weekly.
I am asking you to consider making a donation to the renova-
tion fund which will help take some pressure off our expenses.
Many will be receiving, or have received, a tax refund and I
am asking you to consider helping us with a donation to this
project which you will benefit from. Our restrooms are origi-
nal from 1957 and are constantly in use by large numbers of
people. I need your help! – Father Zig

ST. BENEDICT Joseph Labre was born in France in 1748. He received a good education under the care of his pious parents
and a priest of Amettes, the place of his birth.
From his childhood he performed various acts of penance for faults, even the most venial. In his twelfth year he began to learn
Latin under the care of his uncle, a priest, and for four years he applied himself to this and other studies with pleasure. At six-
teen, however, his thoughts turned to much to piety that a dislike of study seemed to gain upon him. Above all, he loved the Bible, and for the rest of his life always carried a copy.
At this period of his life he showed a desire to join the Trappists. Upon being refused, he next tried the Carthusians and re-
mained six weeks among them; but such was not his vocation. Another trial of the monastic life, made among the Cistercians,
was equally a failure. He now took to the life of a pilgrim and sanctified himself by living on alms and practicing extreme
poverty.
The last years of his life were spent in Rome, where he made pilgrimages to different sanctuaries. Gradually his health de-
clined. In 1783, he seemed to be dying and yet he would spend hours in prayer. Finally, he was taken into a house out of char-
ity, and died on April 16 of the same year.
St. Benedict represents a Western example of the Eastern ascetical vocation of the mendicant pilgrim or wandering holy man-
”the fool of Christ.”
PRAYER God, by Your grace St. Benedict Joseph persevered in imitating Christ in His poverty and humility. Through his
intercession, grant that we may faithfully follow our vocation and reach that perfection which You held out to us in Your Son. Amen.

April 12, 2020 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
My dear parishioners,
CHRIST IS RISEN! – TRULY HE IS RISEN! This was the first Easter greeting which was spoken by the Women Disciples
and the Apostles on the Day of Resurrection. After having witnessed the suffering and death of the Lord, these disciples ex-
perienced utmost joy in meeting the Risen Christ in the flesh. This was the day on which the forces of death were defeated and eternal life bestowed to those who believe. The Resurrection of the Lord Jesus is the source of our faith and the reason
for our gathering each week on Sunday, the Lord’s Day.
Every Sunday is a “little Easter” regardless what time of the year. This is the day on which we gather, in the tradition of the
Apostles, to celebrate the Eucharist and recall the Paschal Mystery of Jesus’ Passion, Death and Resurrection. Sunday is the
principal day of the week, the first day of the week, when Holy Mass is offered and the faithful gather to receive “the Bread
of Life” so that “all those who believe may have everlasting life.” (John 6)
Today’s Easter celebration is one which stays with us each week. The joy of this day cannot be contained within this one day
but is relived each Sunday. Is there anything more important than participating in the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist to
reaffirm our faith in Christ’s Resurrection and what this means for our eternal future. The answer is NO! Nothing is more
important for the follower of Jesus than observance of the Lord’s Resurrection with participation in the Holy Mass.
For many weeks now we have been unable to come to our church and participate in the Holy Mass due to the pandemic. I
have heard from so many of you of your desire to once again return to Mass and receive the Holy Eucharist. Our absence from the Blessed Sacrament has made us aware of how much we need the “Bread of Life” for spiritual strength and nourish-
ment. It is in the Eucharist that we meet the Risen Christ, truly present yet different in physical appearance. We recall the
account in Luke’s Gospel of the disciples encounter with the Risen Christ as they journeyed to Emmaus on that first Easter
Sunday afternoon. Arriving at Emmaus they said to Jesus, “Stay with us.” He granted their request and made Himself pre-
sent in the Eucharist which He presided at in Emmaus.
When the pandemic concludes and we can once again return to gathering in church let us come to the Lord’s House with
excitement and joy. Let us long for the day when we can celebrate Easter every Sunday in our church knowing that by doing
so we believe in the eternal life Christ won for us by His Holy Resurrection!
Happy Easter! – CHRIST IS RISEN ! – RULY HE IS RISEN !
