FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Fr.

Outdoor Masses

In the likely event that San Mateo County would be included in the coronavirus watch list, which as of this writing is the only county in the Bay Area that is not, and with the consequent restriction of indoor public worship, St. Bruno Church is prepared to hold masses outdoor. The courtyard is the most convenient place to hold this. Bounded on three sides by the church, the recto‐ry and the parish hall, it is well protected from the buffeting of the wind. Covered with tarp for almost the entire space, it shields worshipers from sun glare. With speakers attached to the church wall fronting the courtyard, and with the use of wireless micro‐phones which link up with the church sound system, we envision no problem with sounds; the prayers, the readings and the songs will be clearly heard. With regards to lighting, we are blessed since the present mass hours are scheduled when there is enough day‐light, including the 7PM Spanish mass. So, we will keep the weekend mass schedule, that is, 4:30 PM & 7PM (Spanish) on Saturday, and 10AM (Spanish) and 12NN on Sunday. On weekdays, there will be public masses from Tuesday to Friday, at 9AM. The grounds have been properly marked with blue electrical tape indicating where you can be. One sig‐nificant change is the seating. Aside from the two benches under the overhang of the parish hall and the one under the tree, no seats will be provided. You will have to bring your own (a stool would do) when you come to mass. If lugging a chair is too inconvenient, you may stand for the duration of the mass which is no more than 40 minutes. Entrance will be through the gates near the grotto, along Green Avenue. Exits will be through the other gates and openings. You will still have to sign up and wear mask. Be reminded that you can sign up for mass online using the link in the parish website. Also, you can make online donation through the same process. Thank you for your kind understanding and coopera‐tion.

*** We hope to finalize the schedule of Confirmation and Frist Communion at the end of the month.

A SHARE IN GOD’S KINGDOM Today concludes a three-week series of Gospel texts in which we have listened to a total of seven para-bles about the Kingdom. The believer is asked to con-sider the request that God made of Solomon in today’s first reading: “Ask something of me and I will give it to you” (1 Kings 3:5). Today’s parables about the treasure buried in the field and the pearl of great price should prompt us to answer, “A share in your kingdom, O God!” Today we discover that the kingdom of God is beyond value, a priceless treasure. Unfortunately, our culture bombards us with things that it believes are priceless treasures—the bigger and better SUVs, anti-aging and anti-balding creams and salves, miracle diets, and so much more. Having a share in God’s kingdom and helping to bring about that kingdom are the greatest treasures that we can ever hope to gain. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. YOUR CONTRIBUTION / SU CONTRIBUCION July 18th & July 19th

We are grateful for your consistent financial support each Sunday. Please remember us in prayer & offering even when you cannot be present.

Catechism Corner by Kacey Carey , DRE There is a great contrast between today's gospel and what is going on in liberal cities throughout the US. Our gospel speaks of pursuing God's wisdom as the ultimate goal in life. It tells us that God's wisdom is so much more worthy of pursuit than the wisdom of the world, which will leave us empty and desolate. Yet many agitators persist in stirring up dissent and turmoil in the hope of creating a new world order. They want to destroy our way of life and replace it with socialism and obedience to the state government , not God. Unfortunately many leaders turn a blind eye to the destruction and chaos coming from these burning cities. The killing of George Floyd was an atrocity crying out for justice but so is the raging criminality that exploded in its wake. Those forced to keep quiet out of fear of the mob turning on them, leaves no room for debate, rational discussion, or even the desire to listen to the opposite side . These trained agitators are declared Marxists, intend on the abolishment of religion, and persecution of Christians of faith. We have seen the burning of churches , beheading of Marian and Serra statues and now a singing ban. Marxism is a system of thought developed by Karl Marx, originator of atheistic Communism. It is characterized chiefly by the theories of dialectical materialism, surplus value and class struggle and warfare. The lines are being sharply drawn between those wanting peace and those intend on forcing chaos until they get their way. "A democracy without values easily turns into open or thinly disguised totalitarianism." St.John Paul II

San Juan Pablo II
