AHEPA NEWS

Our delegates to the District Convention, president Andrew Christa-kos and secretary Larry Odzak, were excited to report that they en-joyed meeting with our District 3 brothers, especially because they managed to bring back some inspiring news.

Item one: despite this year's reduced funds in the Scholarship Foundation, five of our students were awarded District Scholarships. The successful applicants are Alexa Waters, Niki Christakos, Christine Zehia, Alex Mariakakis, and Brit-tany Crisp. We sincerely congratulate them and their AHEPA parents who sponsored them! Formal letters from the District Scholarship Foundation will be arriving in due course.

Item two: against friendly yet formidable competition, our DURHAM Chapter 277 was awarded the title Chapter of the Year. All our members are responsible for this enviable feat, because they worked hard on the outreach and activities which merited this award. Among other events, especially noteworthy were our efforts in organizing the CPR Class and the resulting donation of the Lifeline Defibrillator to our Church, as well as our enhancing the cultural life of our community, and honoring our veterans. Again, congratulations to all the broth-ers of Durham Chapter 277.

CONGRATULATIONS!

AHEPA DURHAM CHAPTER 277

AWARDED DISTRICT “CHAPTER OF THE YEAR!”

THIS WEEK

“A TASTE OF GREECE”

This Saturday, June 23, 2012

The Parish Council has selected this Saturday, June 23, for hosting another "A Taste of Greece" event. The reason for this date being selected one

month after our festival is so our parish can extend an invitation to our regular festival attendees to come and see our beautiful church. The "A Taste of Greece" will be limited in scope and effort...we will only be featuring a limited menu of gyros, souvlaki, and hot dogs at the grill, a pastry booth, a bakaliko booth, leftover souvenirs, and, of course, host tours and tours of our sanctuary.

HAPPY SUMMER!
