Well, summer is really here now. Oh well, that means that it is time to get out and enjoy Nature to its fullest. There will also be a bountiful amount of others that are not Nature…so go and enjoy this time of the year, But be sure to come back safely.

Just a thought:
Here is the summer double issue. The competitions from April
and May are included. The snowbirds have hit the trails to parts
North, East and West… It’s time for summer vacations. It may
be a good time to reflect on 2013 so far.
The Club has received numerous awards from Arizona Camera
Club Council (ACCC) Round-up from last Fall and Spring.
There is a new projector used for monthly competitions.
Many new members have taken on new roles this year.
Treasurer, Secretary, WebMaster, Program Chair, Completion
Chair and Editor positions have new leaders.
Members have shared their expertise through presentations at
the meetings.
It seems a good time for lessons learned. In the
past month, two of us have lost our photos due to
electronic failures…
Learn from my mistakes—have more than one
backup copy… If anyone has a good process and
want to share—just let me know and we can share with the club.
Enjoy your summer where ever your adventures take you,
Mary Ellen Swatta, editor

Grand Canyon Competition Chair
Competitions have become a primary vehicle for
photographers to share and be recognized for their work. The
Grand Canyon International competition benefits the Saguaro
Camera Club.
Now, Grand Canyon International is in need of stewards to
help maintain their mission. The role of Chairman is available
for a member of the SCC. Duties include:
Selecting a date within the 3rd week of March 2014 for the
judging.
Find a location for judging and a luncheon menu for the
group
Ask for volunteers to work the two computers (same as club
competition). Ask 3 qualified people to judge (Nancy &
Larry have volunteered for 2014). One additional person
will be needed to enter the “pencil” scores and awards on
paper. (This could be the chairman).
Create the slideshows of accepted images or find a volunteer
who will create the shows.
There is the possibility of one meeting to attend with all 6
clubs attending.
Nancy Sams and Larry Durbin have been involved for years
and are committed to continuing to support the new
Chairman. Please contact Nancy with questions and to

June 11 and 12,
Sedona Overnight — June 11 Meet at 8 am in the West Fork
Trail where will photograph wildflowers. Good photo ops
for columbine should be available near the trail head and
farther back along the canyon. Afternoon will be at Red
Rock Crossing where we will stay for sunset. This is one of
the most recognized sunset locations in Arizona. Wednesday
morning will be a driving trip to photograph on the Schnebly
Hill road but we will need another high clearance vehicle if
enough people attend. We will finish the morning with some
photo ops at Tlaquepaque Arts and Craft Village before
lunch at the El Ricon restaurant in the village. That will
conclude the outing. There are many hotels available in
Sedona from which to choose. Contact Lynn Thompson for
additional information. Lynn's cell phone is 480-734-0040.
The photo trip to Moab for May was re-scheduled to October
11 through October 14 or 15, 2013: This will provide us the
opportunity to shoot fall color in the La Sal Mountains in
addition to the normal photo ops in the Canyonlands area.
Contact Nancy Sams for more information.
