A Wild Night at the Symphony! A Very Merry Saginaw Christmas A Symphonic Love Affair Beethoven’s Eroica A New Creation

Tuesday, December 12 Saturday, February 10 Saturday, march 24 Saturday, may 12

8:00 PM at the Temple Theatre 8:00 PM at the Temple Theatre 8:00 PM at the Temple Theatre 8:00 PM at the Temple Theatre 8:00 PM at the Temple Theatre

What better way to celebrate Halloween than A Wild Night at the Symphony! With musical treats like Ghostbusters, The Shining, Halloween, and Poltergeist as well as Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz and Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain there is no need for any tricks! Join Maestro Fakhouri and the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra at the Temple Theatre on this “spook-tacular” symphonic adventure!

Join the SBSO and its Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Fakhouri, for this now fifteen-year Saginaw holiday tradition. From several Sleigh Rides and a Sleigh Bells to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s magical Dreams of Fireflies and Wizards of Winter, plus Ravel’s Bolero and selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, you and your loved ones are sure to catch the joyous spirit of the season.

Share this musical Valentine with your sweetheart. The SBSO begins with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy: an exciting aural adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous tale of passion, longing, love and death. Also enjoy Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini which was featured in the movie Somewhere in Time. The evening concludes with Ravel’s brilliant orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Step into the world of three major composers of the classical genre. The SBSO explores Mendelssohn’s reaction to his trip to the Scottish islands of Hebrides with Fingal’s Cave. Followed by Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1. Beethoven’s “memory of a great man,” aka Napoleon—his Symphony No. 3, known as Eroica Symphony—captures audience’s imagination as no other momentous work can.

The invigorating overture from Bernstein’s Candide is followed by Symphony No. 25, Mozart’s 17 year-old masterpiece. A new work by Maestro Fakhouri, inspired by the beauty of Spain’s Catalan architecture, receives its world premiere. Respighi’s Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome take you on an aural journey of historic vistas. The season finale is a delight with its imaginative, lush orchestral soundscapes—not to be missed!
