FOR USE ONLY AS AN AGRICULTURAL HERBICIDE

Crop: Winter and Spring Oilseed rape and fodder rape

Maximum single dose: 25 g/ha

Maximum total dose: 25 g/ha

Latest time of application: 90 days pre harvest

Method of application: Tractor mounted / Trailedsprayer.Read the label before use. Using this product in amanner that is inconsistent with the label may be anoffence.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. Allinstructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe andsuccessful use of this product.

Restrictions• SALSA should not be applied to any crop suffering from stress as a result of drought,

waterlogging, low temperatures, pest or disease attack, nutrient or lime deficiencyor other factors reducing crop growth.

• Due to the high level of activity of the herbicide, special care must be taken to avoid damageby drift onto broad-leaved plants outside the target area, or onto ponds, waterways orditches. Thorough cleansing of equipment is also very important - see below.

• Do not apply SALSA more than once to any oilseed rape crop.• Requirements or restrictions on other product labels must be adhered to when applied

to the same crop as SALSA. Contact your DuPont distributor for further information.

Weed controlSALSA contains ethametsulfuron methyl, a sulfonylurea (ALS inhibitor) herbicide andis most effective if applied when the weeds are small and actively growing. Goodspray cover of the weeds must be obtained for best results. Susceptible plants ceasegrowth almost immediately after application and symptoms can be seen about twoweeks after application. Weed control may be reduced when soil conditions are verydry. The susceptibility rating of the weeds in the following table refers to post-emergence application with good spray cover and growing conditions.

ResistanceThis product contains ethametsulfuron methyl, an ALS inhibitor, also classified by theHerbicide Resistance Action Committee as ‘Group B’.

When herbicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several yearsin the same field, selection of resistant biotypes can take place. These can propagateand may become dominating. A weed species is considered resistant to a herbicideif it survives a correctly-applied treatment at the recommended dose. Development ofresistance within a weed species can be avoided or delayed by sequencing or tank-mixing with suitable products having a different mode of action. A strategy forpreventing and managing resistance should be adopted. The Weed Resistance Action

Committee has produced guidelines and copies are available from your distributor, crop adviser or product manufacturer.

To prevent the build-up of resistant plants, SALSA should not be used as a sole meansfor control of chickweed or mayweed. Where these are present, SALSA should beused only in tank-mixture or in sequence with herbicides with non-ALS modes ofaction. In addition, the use of cultural methods of control and non-ALS herbicideswithin the rotation will help lessen the risk of resistance development.

CropsSALSA can be used on all varieties of winter and spring oilseed rape and fodder rapebetween the growth stages given below.

DoseApply SALSA at 25 g/ha. An approved non-ionic adjuvant should be included at 100 ml per 100 litres of water (0.1% v/v).

TimingSALSA may be applied in the autumn or spring from the cotyledon up to and includingthe 8 leaf stage of crop growth.

Following cropsCereals may be sown in the same calendar year of harvest of an oilseed rape croptreated with SALSA. Cereals and maize, may be sown in the spring of the yearfollowing harvest.

In the event of crop failure for any reason, wheat or barley can be planted. Prior tosowing, soil should be ploughed and cultivated to a depth of at least 15 cm.

Volume and applicationBEFORE USING SALSA, SPRAYING EQUIPMENT MUST BE CLEAN AND FREE FROMCONTAMINATION WITH OTHER PESTICIDES. Application should be made in 100-300 litres of water per hectare to give good spray cover of the weeds. The highervolume is recommended when crops are thick or weed growth is dense. Use aconventional field crop sprayer at a pressure of 2 - 3 bars and apply as a MEDIUMspray (as defined by BCPC). Care should be taken not to overlap spray swaths.

MixingQuarter fill the spray tank with clean water, start the agitation and add the requiredquantity of SALSA directly to the tank without prior creaming. Continue agitationwhile topping up the tank and while spraying.

CompatibilityTank-mix partners must only be used in accordance with their label warnings andrestrictions. When using SALSA in a tank-mix, always add SALSA to the spray tankfirst and ensure it is fully dispersed before adding the partner product. For furtherinformation contact your DuPont distributor.

RINSE PROCEDURE MAY RESULT IN INADEQUATE REMOVAL OF PRODUCTDEPOSITS. SUBSEQUENT USE OF APPLICATION EQUIPMENT IN THESECIRCUMSTANCES MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO OTHER CROPS.

TO AVOID SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE TO OTHER CROPS, IMMEDIATELY AFTERSPRAYING SALSA THOROUGHLY CLEAN ALL SPRAY EQUIPMENT, INCLUDINGINSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF LID, USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:

1. Immediately after spraying, drain tank completely. Any contamination on theoutside of the spraying equipment should be removed by washing with clean water.

2. Rinse inside of tank with clean water and flush through boom and hoses using atleast one-tenth of the spray tank volume. Drain tank completely.

3. Half fill tank with clean water and add All Clear® Extra at the recommended rate.Agitate and then flush the boom and hoses with the cleaning solution. Top up withwater making sure the tank is completely full and allow to stand for 15 minutes withagitation. Again flush the boom and hoses and drain tank completely.

4. Nozzles and filters should be removed and cleaned separately with an All ClearExtra solution containing 50 ml of All Clear® Extra per 10 litres of water.

5. Rinse the tank with clean water and flush through the boom and hoses using atleast one-tenth of the spray tank volume. Drain tank completely.

6. Dispose of washings safely in accordance with local authority guidelines7. Do not spray onto sensitive crop or land intended for cropping with sensitive crop.

NOTE: If it is not possible to drain the tank completely, step 3 must be repeated beforegoing on to step 4.

Clean-up methods - small spillage Sweep up or vacuum up spillage and collect insuitable container for disposal. Clean-up methods - large spillage Avoid dust formation. Contain spillage, pick upwith an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and transfer toa container for disposal according to local regulations (see section 13). If spill area is on ground near valuable plants or trees, remove 5 cm of top soil afterinitial clean-up.

Use only according to our recommendations. Use only clean equipment. Avoid dustformation. Do not breathe dust or spray mist. Wear personal protective equipment. For personal protection see section 8. Prepare the working solution as given on thelabel(s) and/or the user instructions. Use prepared working solution as soon aspossible - Do not store. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places wheredust is formed. Avoid exceeding the given occupational exposure limits (see section8).

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Avoid dust formation in confinedareas. During processing, dust may form explosive mixture in air.

7.2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilitiesRequirements for storage areas and containers:

Store in a place accessible by authorized persons only. Store in original container.Keep in properly labelled containers. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cooland well-ventilated place. Keep out of the reach of children.
