1. Thetablesbelowand leftprovide loadcapacities forGridwalk&GripwalkTMbasedontheLWM direction over a clear span, with every fourth strand welded to the support witha minimum landing of 30mm.
2. The uniformly distributed values shown are based on loads causing a deflection of10mm or Span/200, whichever is less.
3. Gridwalk and GripwalkTM expanded metal walkway meshes behave like a net; evenwhen heavily overloaded they can carry loads far in excess of the recommended datashown. The inherent properties of expanded metal walkway meshes providedmaximum safety pursuant to complete failure.
4. A load of 102kgs approximates 1kN force. A load of 102kgs/m2 approximates 1kPa.
5. U = Uniformly distributed load in Kilopascals.D = Deflection in MillimetresC = Concentrated loads in Kilonewtons have been applied through a 100mm diameterplate. They correspond to a localised deflection of 10mm.
Locker Group is the only Australian manufacturer who can offer longway widths of over2.4 metres; reducing welding requirements and therefore installation times.

Locker Group can provide you with fixing clips designed to fixyour walkway mesh to structural steelwork. The clips comprise anupper saddle, which engages over two knuckles of the mesh, witha screw passing through the saddle and tightening into a lowerclamping strip, which engages with the bottom of the knuckle.
The clips are ideal as they eliminate the need to tighten the clipfrom below. The clamping strip can be fed through the mesh, positioned correctly and then screw tightened.
LRD Fixing ClipTo suit the following profiles:WK3414, WK3419, WK3422,WK3428, WK2517, WK1225,Grip14, Grip19, Grip22, Grip28
WK45 Fixing ClipTo suit the following profiles:WK4514, WK4519, WK3022,WK3028, Grip4514, Grip4519
Banding of cut edges – Gridwalk can be easily shaped to fitaround pipes or structural members. Cut-outs should be edgedwith flat bar, welded at all contact points.
Welded to support – Each fourth stag (or at 150mm centres)should be welded to a structural support.
The ends of Gridwalk & Gripwalk should bear on structuralsupports, with a minimum overlap of 30mm. Adjoining sheetsmust be lapped by at least onemesh opening, and clamped. Thestrands of adjoining sheets should slope in the same direction.*Note: maximum recommended distance between fixing clipsis 750mm.
Sheets joined by butt weldSheets joined by overlap and weld. Minimum overlap one fullmesh (SWD).
Notes: As overlapping Gripwalk can produce a raised edge, butt joining is recommended. Join should be positioned overa support. Adjoining sheets (butting or lapped) can be weldedtogether, or a support can be welded beneath the join of thegrating.
Min 30mm

Application detailsTo adjust Locker Group grating sheets to overall walkwaylength, it is possible to allow more than one mesh to overlap, thus the accurate measurement of length of walkway isunnecessary. It is comparitively simple to shape Locker Groupwalkway grating and to cut holes for pipes or structuralmembers. All cut outs should be edged with a bar welded atcontact points.

Tread selections:As standard, Gripspan is supplied with a plain non-serrated tread, offering excellent grip for applications requiring minimal traction. A serrated, non-slip tread surface is also available, offering excellent traction in all directions. Alternatively, Gripspan is available in a slotted profi le, offering a smoother walkway surface. Slotted Gripspan is available with an optional anti-slip dimple pattern, offering superior traction. Tolerances > Stock Planks:Width tolerance +0 – 2mmLength tolerance -0 + 20mmHeight tolerance +/- 1mm
Fabricated panels +/- 6mm all measurementsClearances Required: Gripspan grating should be kept at least 6mm away from vertical steel sections and at least 12mm away from concrete walls. Allow clearance at joints between sections of maximum 6mm at sides and ends. Note: Where dissimilar metal corrosion may occur, use an interposing barrier at contact areas.
Stair TreadsGripspan stair treads can be fabricated by fi tting the end plates supplied separately, alternatively, fully fabricated stair treads can be supplied in either standard or heavy duty form.
1. Standard Tread – Galvanised steelNo nosing, Endplates fi tted with fi xing holes, all welds painted with zinc rich primer2. Standard Tread – Hot Dipped Galvanised3. Heavy Duty Tread – Floor plate nosing. End plates fi tted with holes, hot dipped galvanised.

FIXING TO STRUCTURE
1. Without drilling structureHoldDownClamppart no. HDC65. Consists of one screw, anchor device clip and galvanized clamp plate. Used forsecuring planks to channel section from above.
2. Where drilling structure requiredAnchor Device Clip part no. ADC. This clip is shapedto fit into the diamond shaped surface openings of thegrating. Clip comes separately or can be supplied with aM8 x 75mm cup head bolt assembly.
M8 x J-Bolt is a simple way of fastening panels tosupports from the underside of the grating.
3. Splicing PlanksSplice Plate Part No SP65 or SP100(dependent on leg height)Used for joining continuous sections together in runs overclear spans; to enable planks to work as one continuousunit. Alternatively splice plates can be used to join sectionsover supports. Use M10 x 20 bolts.
4. Joining Planks End to EndCarrier Plate (end plate) Part No. CPL65 & CPL100Carrier plates should be welded to the ends.Bolt end to end using M10 x 20mm bolt assemblies. Also used for easily fabricated stair tread assemblies,by cutting a plank to length and fitting carrier plates.
5. Heel Toe PlatePart No. HT65100 (1.2mm thick)A bolt on kickplate available ex-stock in 3 metre lengths.Holes pre-punched at 480mm intervals.Use M10 x 20mm bolts.
6. Filler PanelPart No. FP65 & FP100Used as a make up piece 75mm wide.Flat section only, no tread.

100mm
Cutting & NotchingRandom cut edges and diagonal or circular cut exposed edgesshould be banded with flat bar at least 3mm in thickness andequal to the overall grating section height, welded at contactpoints at the discretion of the design engineer.
Corrosive EnvironmentsIf Gripspan grating is to be installed within one kilometre of saltwater,or inahighlycorrosiveenvironment, it is recommendedthathot dipped galvanized steel is used as a minimum. Considerationshould also be given to aluminium or stainless steel.
InstallationAs well as relatively low initial material cost, Gripspan can beinstalled with cost efficiency. The lightweight, easy to handleplank design means that Gripspan can be installed in sections byone person.
Roll formed, the planks are available in virtually any transportablelength, and can be rapidly welded or clamped in place, to suit anyapplication.
IMPORTANT - Before installation ensure that the Gripspangrating type to be utilised is suitable for the loading and spanningrequirements involved. This information is shown in the loadcharts. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for incorrectinstallation of Gripspan grating.
Joining PlanksGripspan may be welded or bolted. If bolting, it is recommendedthat planks are locked together using bolt assemblies, part no.HXB10MM, through the plank side holes which are at 120mmintervals. Bolt spacing is recommended at 600mm.NOTE: 60mm from the start of plank to centre of first hole
If welding is chosen as the desired fixing method, care must betaken to ensure that each weld is of a high standard and that it isstructurally sound.
Weld adjacent planks together with 6mm butt weld, 25mm inlength, staggered top and bottom of each plank every 600mm.
For welded attachment to support structure, secure side channelsto supports by welding with 6mm butt welds, 25mm in length.NOTE: Weld points should be cleaned and immediately coatedwith a zinc rich paint.
