Fast and Abstinence

The Bishops of the US prescribe, as minimal obligation, that all persons who are 14 years of age and older are bound to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday, on all the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday. Further, all persons 18 years of age and older, up to and including their 59th birthday, are bound to fast by limiting themselves to a single full meal on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday, while the other two meals on those days are to be light.

Six Tuesdays during Lent, 7:00 PM Lenten Series Hosted by Ridley Area Catholic Churches Six Ridley Township area Catholic Churches will host a weekly Lenten series entitled “Seven Signs in the Gospel of John” on six consecutive Tuesday evenings of Lent. Each evening will feature a talk on a different miracle of Jesus, and each evening will be hosted by a different parish at 7:00 PM. The format will include Evening Prayer, Benediction, talk by a different guest speaker each week, and then a social for attendees. The Second Week of Lent We continue the first part of Lent, during which we learn, along with those preparing for Baptism, wonderful lessons in our faith. We can feel the rhythm developing. Sunday is always our celebration of the Lord's resurrection, and establishes our theme for the week. Wednesdays and Fridays remind us of our commitment to a change of heart. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday re-introduce us to wonderful scriptures for our journey. Saturday is always uplifting and joyful. The Opening Prayer of the Liturgy each day continues to guide our prayer. As we experience how simple these prayers are, and how easy they are to make our own, we find ourselves praying together in the same Spirit, with one another on this journey, around the world.

Come & See Weekends Winter / Spring 2020 A discernment retreat is one stop on the journey to explore God’s purpose for your life. It offers a chance to come away, to be with others on a similar path, and to find a place of quiet to listen so as to hear God speak. Men who are discerning a possible call to the priesthood are invited to attend a Come & See Weekend at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Presentation on the Shroud of Turin March 12th, 7:00 PM Event: A Silent Witness of the Passion, Death & Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Massimo Paris, born and raised in Rome, Italy, has spent the last thirty years researching the Shroud of Turin, the ancient linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man, believed by millions to be Jesus Christ. Also on display will be a life-size replica of the shroud and a two-foot statue which shows the position in which the body of Jesus was wrapped in the burial cloth in order to be placed in the tomb. Mothers of Children with Disabilities Retreat: Tuesday, May 5, 2020

Malvern Retreat House David and Mercedes Rizzo, will lead a retreat for mothers and grandmothers who are raising children with disabilities

B-I-N-G-O! March Meeting - Please join us for a fun night of Bingo (no cash prizes) at our next Ladies Auxiliary meet-ing. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at 7:30PM in the St. Charles Church Hall. $10 donation covers multiple games of bingo.

Parish Breakfast - The Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a Partnering Parish Breakfast in the St. Charles Church Hall on Sunday, March 22, 2020, after the 7:30am Mass until after the 10:00am Mass. The cost is $7 per adult and $3 for children under 12 (payable at the door). Please mark your calendars and come join us for a delicious home cooked breakfast!

Are you looking for a ministry to help? Look no further than the monthly collection for St. John's Hospice for Men which helps the poor and homeless. You can make a casserole (pans and recipes are provided), donate non-perishable groceries, donate men's toiletries and donate usable men's clothing. This ministry is held at St. Charles Borromeo Church. For anyone who does not have a way to transport their donation (casseroles, clothing, etc.) to church on the collection day for St. John's Hospice, we are offering a pick-up service.
