Bible Study Every time we attend Mass, we hear beautiful readings from the Sacred Scriptures. Would you like to go
deeper and have the opportunity to read and discuss the Bible? The Wednesday night group is currently
reading and discussing the Old Testament Book of Exodus. Feel free to come and join us on Wednesday
nights at 6:30pm in the Church Hall. All are welcome!
Bulletin Column for the Fifth Sunday of Lent
The interior disposition of the heart is exactly where Jesus takes us in the gospel account of the raising of Lazarus. At one
point Jesus says, “…if you believe you will see the glory of God…” Notice the emotion Jesus shows when he hears that Lazarus is
dead. “He wept.” This is a strong human emotion and shows Jesus as someone truly human.
We hear the prayer of Jesus which speaks of the interior disposition of his heart: “Father, I thank you for hearing me. I
know that you always hear me; but because of the crowd here I have said this, that they may believe that you sent me.” This shows
us that in his humanity, Jesus’ prayer was always a prayer of the heart directed to the Father. Jesus cries out in a loud voice for
Lazarus to come out of the tomb. Lazarus comes out, restored to life, but bound. Lazarus is fully restored to life only with the
command of Jesus to “…Untie him and let him go…” There is a parallel between Lazarus being bound with burial bands and us
being bound by our weakness and sinfulness. Jesus is calling us to come out and just as he commanded that Lazarus be untied and
let go, so he is calling us to cast off whatever binds us and to open our hearts to the love and mercy of God.
God bless you all,
Fr. Guy

Perpetual Candles at Sacred Heart
We are blessed to have three sacred spaces with candles at which we can light a candle for our
prayers and special intentions.
These candles can be used for weekly visits, as many of you already do. There is also the pos-
sibility to reserve a candle for a month(s) or a year. Some of the intentions for which a num-
ber of parishioners have reserved candles:
Deceased or living family
Condolence for friends or family
Anniversary of Marriage
Birthday
Automatically with the condolences, we send a letter to notify the grieving family of the candle
lit in our church for their loved one. We can also send a letter when requested for the others.
Visit one of our candle devotional spaces to light a candle. Fill out the form below to re-
Prayer to Saint Michael:
Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be
our defense against the wickedness and snares of the
devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do
thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of
God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Preghiera a San Michele:
San Michele Arcangelo, difendici nella battaglia; sii tu nostro sostegno contro la perfidia e le insidie del diavolo; che Dio eserciti il suo dominio su di lui, te ne preghiamo supplichevoli; e tu, o Principe della milizia celeste, con la potenza divina, ricaccia nell'inferno satana e gli altri spiriti maligni i quali errano nel mondo per perdere le anime. AMEN.
