Happy Mother’s Day

Prayer to the Mother of the Lord for all Mothers

Mary, on this day when we honor all mothers, we turn to you. We thank the Lord whom you serve for the great gift of motherhood. Never has it been known that any-one who sought your intercession was left unaided by grace. Dear Mother, thank you for your “Yes” to the invitation of the angel which brought heaven to earth and changed human history. You opened yourself to God’s word and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Dear Mother, intercede for all of our mothers. Ask your Divine Son to give them the grace of surrendered love so that they can join with you in giving their own “Fiat.” May they find daily strength to say yes to the call to sacrificial love-the very heart of the vocation of motherhood. May their love and witness be a source of great inspira-tion for all of us called to follow your Son.

On this Mother’s Day, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for us who have recourse to you….

In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

40 Hours Devotion Sign-Up Weekend

Please stop after Mass to sign up for a time slot during our 40 Hours Devotion scheduled from 3:00 pm Friday, June 8th through 7:00 am Sunday, June 10th. Come spend some time with Our Lord and let Him speak to you in the silence.

A special “Thank you” is extended to our Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus along with the Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia for the ability to present our mothers with a red rose this Mother’s Day weekend. Thank God for our mothers’ witness and willingness to promote the Gospel of Life (Evangelina Vitae). May God Bless our Mothers both those still living and those who have been called home to eternal life.

The Second Collection this weekend will be to help defray the cost of the Youth Group’s trip to the Catholic Youth Confer-ence at the Franciscan University of Steubenville this July. This three-day retreat will help inspire, invigorate and deepen HDX3W the faith of our own Sacred Heart youth. Please be as generous as you can and thank you in advance.

We truly appreciate your support!

Did you know??

Summer break is a tough time for families dealing with food insecurity. Without the consistent nutrition provided by the Free & Reduced Lunch Program at schools, many fam-ilies struggle to make ends meet as grocery bills soar. Summer is also a tough time for Food Cupboards to keep their shelves stocked with staple items, when inventory gathered from large holiday food drives run low.

Sacred Heart Parish in connection with The Constellation Network (www.theconstellationnetwork.com) is asking pa-rishioners to help stock our local food cupboards for the summer. You will find paper bags in the Narthex with a suggested list of needed items. Collect your donated items in the bag and return it to the Parish Hall by the weekend of June 3rd.

The collected items will be delivered to Oxford Neighborhood Services.

Please pray for all of our Seminarians most especially those who will be ordained next weekend including

Rev. Mr. Manuel Flores

HUMANAE VITAE: FIFTY YEARS LATER

October 13, 2018 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

The Logan Philadelphia Hotel 50 years ago Blessed Paul VI prophesied to the world that marriages and the society

would suffer if the use of contraception became widespread. He said that infidelity, moral decline, loss of respect for wom-en and abuse of power by governments would increase expo-nentially. This conference will highlight the fulfillment of these prophe-sies in the world today and offer a reflection as to how selfless-ness, love, self-mastery and moral responsibility can reverse this trend. Presenters Include: Janet E. Smith, Mary Rice Has-son, Fr. Robert McTeigue, S.J., Vicki Thorn, Angela Lanfranchi, MD & The Sisters of Life. **ATTN: Archdiocesan teachers and catechists - One elective or annual credit is granted to those who attend the entire day. Spring Prayer

Dear God:

Spring is a metaphor for change. Some changes we eagerly await, and some

we abhor. Some changes we plan and others arrive uninvited. To all of these

changes, we ask the gift of Your perspective beckoning us to expectation, hope, and rebirth.

May the sunlight and the rain be reminders that You are at work renewing the earth. As a God of renewal, You are ever

at work in our lives too. Open our eyes and lives to the needed changes in our lives this Spring. Awaken us to new life and perspective, for we

pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
