SCRIPTURE READING REFLECTION

Today we celebrate that great event of Christ, as promised, sending His Holy Spirit into His disciples. Need I remind anyone that this is not just a once only event, but one infinity repeated to subsequent disciples. The Scriptures tell us that this gift changed the original disciples exponentially. E.g. not only was timidity conquered but understanding and insight were significantly expanded. Since in celebrating this feast, we celebrate as well, its gift to us, perhaps now is a good time to review some old catechism lessons from the days when catechisms were prevalent. GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: (what He offers us): Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel (Right Judgment) Fortitude (Courage) Knowledge, Piety (Reverence) and Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe in God’s Presence). (Cf. Isaiah 1: (1-2). FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (i.e. if we respond) Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Generosity, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Modesty, Self-Control, Chastity (cf. Galatians 5:22-23) The lists of gifts and fruits, by the way, can also be found in the Sacrament of Confirmation Rites. (The words in parentheses are alternate terms in the Rite.) Perhaps our Confirmation vows are a little hazy as well? There is a lot here to make an examination of conscience on, namely, the difference between what God offers through the Holy Spirit, and what our lives reflect. Today is as good a time as any to thank God for the gift of the Spirit, and to reflect on where we have not allowed Him to move us.

Let’s make Sacred Heart beautiful again this Spring. Will you adopt a section of our gardens and planters? We’ll have a date for the gardening cleanup announced next week.

Call the office 518-274-1363 for more information.

Please be assured the Mass Intentions that are

scheduled will be offered. Fr. Yanas will be celebrating a private Mass. You can see the Mass in the evening on: sacredhearttroy.com

and Facebook.

We’re getting the church ready to receive all the faithful and we’re working hard to ensure a clean and safe environment for everyone. That will mean we will be given the great opportunity to sacrifice for each other while we wear masks and social distance. Is this not a gift from God to be used to become more virtuous and selflessly loving toward our neigh-bor? Fr. Yanas is praying everyday for the return of his family and although we can not be sure when that will happen or how it will look, we can be sure it will look like this …

PENTECOST SUNDAY MAY 31, 2020

SCHOOL NEWS Registration Continues: Registration for the 2020-2021 school year continues. Our current families have a re-registration packet that they can complete and mail into the school and all new and interested families may contact the school for information and a registration packet. The school office answering machine is routinely checked but it would be best to contact Administrative Assistant Janet MacLasco at [email protected]. We are all currently working on a plan for reopening our building in September with all of the required safeguards in place. Sacred Heart School’s smaller class size and multi leveled building can be seen as a “plus” in that regard.

Sacred Heart’s 22ndAnnual Auction: “Our Auction has Sprouted Wings!”

Our Annual Auction is the most important fundraiser of the year! Our 22nd Auction: "Sacred Heart’s Night on the Nile" event that was originally scheduled for May 9th and then again for June 26th, unfortunately, it has been cancelled due to COVID19 gathering restrictions. But, we’re having an ONLINE AUCTION! Please join us at:

https://biddingowl.com/SacredHeartSchool21678

Online Auction Dates: June 22nd to June 26th! Invitation- registration information was recently mailed to all parishioner and school families. Please contact Karen Snyder at [email protected] if you have not received yours OR you would like this information mailed to your family/friends/neighbors. Enjoy! Our New Principal: Mrs. Amanda Goyer, our new principal, is currently working with Father Yanas, Mr. Casile, Mark Trudeau and the school office staff to create a smooth transition into the next school year. Her official start date is July 1st. A welcome video that she created has been posted on both the parish and school facebook sites. Please join us in welcoming her whenever we are able to come together again. Visit: Please visit our website and facebook pages for up-to-date information and some wonderful videos that have been created with the assistance of our teachers Mrs. Mooney and Mrs. Ingalsbe. Mr. Casile and all of the faculty and staff continue to share positive messages of hope to all. The May Crowning was videoed in several individual “takes” and then spiced together by Mrs. Mooney. The next video being created celebrates our school spirit. www.SacredHeartSchoolTroy.com and facebook: Sacred Heart School

Grade 6 Graduates: You may see or hear about the effort that sixth grade teacher Annette Mooney is making in hopes of providing our graduating sixth graders with a positive end-of-the-year experience. Posting a student each day on our Instagram page and highlighting a student a day on the electronic sign are just a few of the creative ideas being put into place. More exciting news to follow! We currently have parishioners who are participating in E-giving and are very satisfied with the method. E-giving ensures that our parish is supported even when you are elsewhere for Mass. Enrollment forms are available at the rectory.

Change in Date!!!
