SACRED HEART CHURCH TROY, NEW YORK
SCRIPTURE READING REFLECTION Today, all who have been baptized and believe, celebrate that most wonderful of gifts, the gift to each one of us of the Holy Spirit. It is the third most important feast of the entire liturgical year. So important is it that the priest celebrant has a choice for the second reading and Gospel. For the second reading, should we hear first Corinthians, may I point out that in this passage from St. Paul’s magnificent discourse on the risen Christ as head of his mystical body (us) he explains: ”There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit (for all) there are different forms of service but the same Lord (for all) there are different workings but the same God, who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit (to the rest of the body).” Each of us can and should meditate on this deeply and often. Our faith should remind us that “no man is an island”; we are called to live in relation to other people, to be a community, to be of some benefit to others, whatever talents and gifts God chooses to give us. If we are responsible, we cannot sleep walk through life, ignoring this call to mission.
We are looking for one or two volunteers for
data entry for the parish ministries. If you or
someone you know could do some typing here
at the rectory weekdays anytime between the
hours of 9am-5pm. If you are a Confirmation
candidate, this could be counted as some of
your service hours. If you need something like
this for your school community service hours
or if your are retired and just looking for something to do, just
give us at call! Please ask for Mark or Barbara at the parish
office 518-274-1363.
Our Altar Bread and Wine for the month of June has
been gifted in memory of Marie and Thomas Styles
(Wed. Anniv) by their Family. Sacred Heart Memorial Fund has a Good Purpose Some of you may be aware of the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund.
For those who are not aware, Father Yanas, along with the mem-
bers of the Liturgy and Finance Committees are pleased to tell
you that as of this year, all bequests made in memory of a rela-
tive or friend will be placed in the Memorial Fund Account and
will be earmarked for refurbishing our pews. As many of you
have stated, this project is long overdue and is now a top priority.
For your convenience, Memorial Fund Envelopes are available on
the bulletin table, or at the rectory, with the program at a funeral,
and most times during the wake service at the funeral home.
