Description
SABREX delivers benchmark reliability and performance,
even when bent to fit complex target shapes or used
underwater. It is the most highly developed explosive
cutting tool on the market and provides the Demolitions
Engineer, Breacher and EOD specialist with improved
capability. It is available as a family of six natures
specifically selected to match the most commonly
occurring target sizes.
SABREX embodies three novel technologies; the
VECTORJET geometry, the DENSJET liner and the
pressure and water excluding JETJACKET. These
technologies are protected by international patent filings
and trademark registrations.
SABREX is manufactured by Chemring Energetics UK
Ltd. under an exclusive world wide licence from Jet
Physics Ltd.

SABREX incorporates the latest
generation technologies available to
explosive cutting charges. It uses
explosive energy to produce a highly
stable, precise and efficient linear shape
charge cutting jet that will defeat a wide
range of target materials.

Underwater Performance
All SABREX natures have been designed to have the
capability of being used underwater and have been
demonstrated to have no reduction in penetration against
mild steel (BS EN 10025 S275JR / BS4360 Gr 43A) when
fired at its minimum bend radius (Plate plane) down to a
depth of 12m in freshwater at 10oC.
SABREX is designed to sever the thickness of steel as
shown in the table below. Each nature is matched to
commonly occurring target thickness (target reliably
severed);
SABREX also has proven performance against a wide
range of target materials such as Poly Vinyl Butyral
security glass, aluminium and hardwoods.
Environmental Conditions
SABREX has been designed for use in Climatic Zones A1
(+71°C), A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C0, C1 and C2 (-46°C) (Def
Stan 00-35 Part 4 Chapter 1-02 Table 2 Summarised
World-Wide Temperatures and Humidity Cycles) and to
have a shelf life of five years under storage conditions no
worse than A2, B2 and C2.
When used underwater¹, the additional shock fracture
energy may be refracted into the water and lost. Trials
have shown that the penetration is delivered underwater
down to 12m (40ft) depth.
SABREX continues to perform at depths below 12m but
with reduced penetration. The rate of reduction in
penetration at depths below 12m is greater for the smaller
grades of SABREX.
SABREX1150 has been demonstrated to sever a 25mm
mild steel (BS EN 10025 S275JR / BS4360 Gr 43A) when
fired at its minimum bend radius (horizontal plane) at a
depth of 25m in freshwater at 10ºC.
¹ The term underwater does not refer to conditions where the product may be wet due to environmental conditions or following immersion for short periods of time in shallow depths of water (less than 30 minutes at depths to 1m).

Packaging SABREX packaging has been designed to support its
improved Insensitive Munitions signature and offers
a cost effective, efficient use of space and logistical
versatility within military and commercial storage,
across all modes of transport (Air, Land and Sea).
SABREX is packed in an intermediate pizza style box
coiled around a central core. A number of
intermediate packs are then placed in a wooden
logistic box, as follows;

Comprehensive Expert User Training
SABREX is a highly efficient tool set for the Demolitions
Engineer, Breacher and EOD Operator and as with any
specialist equipment it requires specific product and application
related knowledge to maximise its performance. SABREX
should only be used by competent personnel who have
undergone as a minimum, explosives handling training, however
to maximise the effectiveness of SABREX , Chemring Energetics
offers comprehensive expert user training via hands-on tuition.
The course duration and content can be tailored to the
audience via a combination of classroom sessions and practical
demonstration.
3-day Expert User and Safety Training
Topics include initiation, arrays, attachment, positioning, safety
distances and ancillaries.
5-day Specialist User Applications Training
Demolitions - steel, concrete (with & without reinforcement),
timber, tubular (as pipe work, piles, piers, platform space
frames) chains and I-beam;
Unconventional Demolitions - railway lines, power lines, hoses,

Detonator /Booster Holder (DBHD,
Optional extra)
The Detonator / Booster Holder (DBHD) is designed
to assist perpendicular and intimate positioning of the
detonator against SABREX in both top-down and end-
in initiation modes. It comprises a cylindrical body that
can accommodate a booster ring or pellet (if used)
secured by an insert that grips the detonator and
locates and locks into the body with a self-cleaning,
quarter turn, quick-lock thread.
The DBHD offers the following benefits:
Works with all six SABREX natures in both top-
down and end-in initiation modes.
Securely accommodates electric and non-electric
detonators, delays and detonating Cord Boosters
(DCB) with diameters between 5.7mm and 8.0mm
Securely accommodates booster pellets and rings (if
used) up to 19mm diameter and 35mm long.
Two built-in attachment features hard prongs and
hinged self-adhesive wings.
Quick-lock, quarter-turn thread for rapid
deployment
Wings are notched to facilitate bending and
attachment around the profile of all SABREX variants
