Lessons and Rentals

If your child does not own their ownequipment, rentals of skis, snowboards,boots, poles and helmets will be available atthe resort, for a nominal rental fee. Allparticipants are required to wearhelmets. Additionally, if your child hasnever skied or boarded before, a lesson isadvised. Lessons will also be available forany level, and it never hurts to take a quickrefresher session with a Certied Instructor.

Travel Details

The SABIS bus will depart the Joan Streetparking lot at 2:45 PM sharp and travel tothe ski area. Travel time is about 1 hourand 15 minutes. At arrival, students will be

chaperoned to the ticket, rental and lessonareas, where they will be ticketed and/orouttted with equipment. They will then beon their own to ski or board, as desired.Lesson participants will be escorted to theski school area. At 8:45 PM the bus willbegin its trip back to SABIS.

Weather Postponement

In the event of dangerous travel conditions,the trips will be cancelled, and postponed

to a later date, to be determined, based onchaperone availability and transportationarrangements.

2009 S ki & Snowboard OutingWinter Fun for Grades 6-12

This school year, we are trying out a newafter-sc hool winter sporting event forstudents in Grades 6-12 . The Ski andSnowboarding Club , in cooperation withthe SABIS Booster Club and the SABISAthletic Department will be sponsoring ourrst ski and snowboarding outing onDecember 16th. This outing will be anopportunity to gauge student interest,response and involvement in these winteractivities. Many of our student athleteswho do not play winter sports for SABISmay also be interested in participating in

this rst evening activity, since it provides agreat opportunity for athletic conditioning.

First Outing Planned Dec 16th

The rst trip is planned for December 16th,and we will travel to Berkshire East SkiArea , in Charlemont, MA, which is about 65miles from SABIS. The area o f ers novice toexpert terrain, and is a popular resort formany school outings from the area. Formore information on Berkshire East, please

Student Responsibility

Students will be responsible for their own

persona l winter clothing, meals, snacks and themanagement of their personal time. The studentswill have to be aware of departure times from thearea and will have to take care of their ownpersonal belongings. It is anticipated that therewill be a 7:1 student/chaperone ratio . Onechaperone will remain in the base lodge duringthe visit, in order to ensure that an adult is alwaysavailable in the event of an emergency, injury orother support needs. All particiants arerequired to wear helmets.
