Chairman’s Welcome Welcome to Round 2 of the RaboDirect PRO12. It was great to kick o� the season last week and we’re looking forward to yet another great season, with the Final nine months away.

Last year’s RaboDirect PRO12 showcased what our 12 clubs are capable of. There were many memorable moments, with 536 tries and 5,339 points scored in the 135 games played - almost four tries and 40 points per match.

Our competition boasts 229 full internationals from 17 nations and is the breeding ground for star players, with Tim Visser, Toby Faletau, Stuart Hogg and Luke Marshall all winning the Young Player of the Year award in past seasons. Indeed, Faletau and Hogg joined 27 other RaboDirect PRO12 players as part of the recent victorious British & Irish Lions tour.

This quality is re� ected in the popularity of the RaboDirect PRO12 and last season we were delighted to see an increase in match attendance of 4.3% on the 2011-12 campaign. Our TV audiences were also up on the previous year, with over 12.9 million viewers watching the action in all four countries. And we launched a new YouTube channel in March 2013 which has recorded close to a million views in its � rst few months.

The facilities here in Parma have improved greatly and will be the envy of many visiting teams! New Zebre coach Andrea Cavinato and his team will expect a tough battle tonight against Munster but will be con� dent that their second half performance again Connacht can be built upon. Munster had a good bonus point win over Edinburgh to start their campaign and know they need to win on the road to get back to a top 4 position this season so tonight should be an exciting game!

Welcome to Round 16 of the RaboDirect PRO12. During this ‘down’ weekend for the RBS 6 Nations, supporters have this terrific opportunity to take in more top class rugby. As we come to the last of four successive weeks of RaboDirect PRO12 action, the teams will be fighting it out for more precious points with the Play-Off rounds drawing closer.This weekend Benetton Treviso face Connacht and Zebre play Cardiff Blues. The two teams are in prime position to gain points as both take on opposition that they have already beaten this season. Friday evening sees Edinburgh entertain Ospreys at Meggetland, as the Murrayfield pitch is rested. The Ospreys will want to get back to winning ways, emulating their emphatic victory over Edinburgh in September in order to cement their spot in the Play-Off zone. However, Edinburgh will be just as keen to notch up their first win since December. Dragons are set to play Ulster under Friday night lights in Ravenhill. Both sides had narrow victories in the last round and will be desperate to notch up more points as Ulster, currently in third position will be keen to move towards the top two ‘home’ Play-Off places and Dragons lying in seventh will want to rise into the top half of the table. On Saturday afternoon Zebre will host Cardiff Blues at Parma’s Stadio XXV Aprile. As Zebre won their corresponding away fixture back in September, they will have the belief to beat Cardiff Blues. With both sides having lost their past three matches, this is bound to be a keenly fought fixture. Benetton Treviso will travel to Galway to play Connacht at the Sportsground. With Treviso just missing out to a win against Ulster in the last round, the Italian side will be seeking to beat Connacht in order to overtake them in the table. Scarlets will welcome competition leaders Munster to Parc y Scarlets, who are hoping for a fourth straight win in the RaboDirect PRO12. However, the home side will be looking to build on the momentum from last weekend’s home victory against Edinburgh. Glasgow Warriors take on second place side Leinster in a Saturday night encounter at the RDS. Glasgow will want to bring an end to Leinster’s five match winning streak to break into the top four and the Play-Off places.
