Hymn Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me #499 (1-4)

Rock of Ages, cleft for me let me hide myself in theeLet the water and the blood, from thy riven side which flowedBe of sin the double cure, cleanse me from its guilt and pow'r

Not the labors of my hands can fulfil thy law's demandsCould my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flowAll for sin could not atone; thou must save, and thou alone

Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I clingNaked, come to thee for dress; helpless, look to thee for graceFoul, I to the Fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die

While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyelids close in deathWhen I soar to worlds unknown, see thee on thy judgment throneRock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee

God Convicts, Forgives, and Restores

Scripture Reading Genesis 27:1-17; Romans 5:1-11

Silent Confession of Sin

Corporate Prayer of ConfessionAlmighty God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Redeemer of your people, we bow in humble confession of our sins because you have promised to forgive us on the merits of Christ, your only Son, the Lamb of God who covers our iniquities. You alone know how often we have offended you and injured others. Forgive us, O Lord, for every irreverent thought, for every untrue word, for every unkind act, for our neglect of prayer, for every selfish use of money, and for forgetfulness of our sacred vows. O God, have mercy upon us and heal us, and enable us by your Holy Spirit to walk after the example of Christ, our Lord and King, for it is in his Name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Hymn How Deep the Father’s Love

Page 4: s3.amazonaws.com  · Web view11/3/2019  · ou and injured others. Forgive us, O Lord, for every irreverent thought, for every untrue word, for every unkind act, for our neglect

How deep the Father’s love for usHow vast beyond all measureThat he should give his only SonTo make a wretch his treasureHow great the pain of searing loss The Father turns his face awayAs wounds which mar the Chosen OneBring many sons to glory

Behold the man upon a crossMy sin upon his shouldersAshamed, I hear my mocking voiceCall out among the scoffersIt was my sin that held him thereUntil it was accomplishedHis dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anythingNo gifts, no power, no wisdomBut I will boast in Jesus ChristHis death and resurrectionWhy should I gain from his rewardI cannot give an answerBut this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom

Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father, Almighty. From thence, he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

“Where Sin Abounds, Grace Much More Abounds”Genesis 27:1-40

1. Seeking to force your own will instead of seeking God’s creates tension and dysfunction.

2. Seeking to execute God’s will through deception brings great devastation.

3. God’s indestructible promise to provide a Redeemer and to save a people through the folly of his people demonstrates that grace is greater than all our sin.
