When I successfully completed my masters degree, I looked for a supervisor who could accept my research topic of the role of IT in ADHD treatment. I found a few, but chose RMIT because of my supervisor’s knowledge in the field of e-health and RMIT’s location, facilities and services. With my supervisor’s support, I managed to publish two articles, two book chapters and, most recently, two encyclopedia entries.

— Find your pathway at RMITReady to study, but don’t meet our entry requirements? RMIT’s flexible pathways can help you reach your preferred program.
We call the different ways you can get from one program to another program ‘pathways’, because they are like steps on the path to reaching your goals.
Internal pathways
RMIT offers different levels of study that can help you get the qualification you want.
You can improve your English language skills by studying one of RMIT’s English language programs or choosing to study VCE, which is our Year 12 high school certificate, or Foundation Studies to help you get the marks you need and prepare you for success at university.
Alternatively, you may need to start with a certificate, diploma or advanced diploma. These are called ‘Vocational Education’ programs, because they are hands-on, job-focused and prepare you for work.
Some internal pathways can be credited towards a degree, reducing the time it takes to complete your studies.

Important fee information
¡ The program and fees information in this publication applies to students commencing programs between 1 January and 31 December 2019.
¡ All fees are quoted in Australian dollars (AU$) and apply to RMIT University’s Australian campuses only.
¡ RMIT’s application fee is non-refundable, but will be credited to your tuition fee deposit once you accept your offer and commence your program.
For details on additional costs, visit rmit.edu.au/programs/fees/other
¡ For full-time students, the annual Student Services and Amenities Fee for 2018 is AU$298. Visit rmit.edu.au/programs/fees
¡ Fees are held constant for each calendar year and RMIT may increase program fees by an amount that will not exceed 7.5 per cent each year (subject to rounding). For Higher Education fees, tuition fees are rounded up to the nearest $10.00 per credit point increment, and so the actual fee increase may exceed 7.5 per cent. Similarly, for Vocational Education and preparatory students, the program annual fees are rounded up to the nearest $250, and so the actual fee increase may exceed 7.5 per cent.
¡ Fee increases are applied at the beginning of each calendar year, therefore commencing mid-year students will find that the total cost of their program will be slightly higher than if they had commenced in February.
¡ Fees are invoiced on a study period basis according to the enrolled load for that particular study period, except that English language is charged at a weekly fee.

The objective of this grant is to provide the public an opportunity for postgraduate study abroad and return to help develop Indonesia. Melbourne actually has the highest number of LPDP awardees, so automatically having 100 plus friends upon arrival in Melbourne made it easier for me to adjust.

RMIT is one of the biggest facilitators of design practice in Melbourne, and RMIT and the design industry are closely tied together. I already had a foundation in design but this degree enabled me to nurture it.
The program enhanced my knowledge, exposed me to different perspectives and pushed me out of my comfort zone, enabling me to do work that is creative but still has application in the real world.

Elicy Lay, East TimorMaster of Project Management
The best thing about studying project management at RMIT is that you study alongside students from various industries and age groups. I’ve built a network of friends and classmates with years of experience in the built environment, and they’ve given me real insight into the industry to go along with the theoretical work we do at university.
RMIT is very practical, and students are not limited to learning only academic theories. Throughout the course, we learn from real-life case studies and are encouraged to use critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork, which develops the skills we’ll need for a career in project management.

Fernando Domingues, BrazilMaster of International Business
Having worked in the human resources field for almost a decade, I was looking for an opportunity to expand my knowledge and expertise as a specialist practitioner in culturally and linguistically diverse organisations.
I first heard about RMIT when I was still in Brazil and when I looked into the Master of International Business, I found that the core subjects covered exactly the areas I wanted to develop skills.

Pradhnya Tajne, IndiaMaster of Writing and Publishing
I’ve worked in content creation for six years, publishing hundreds of articles, blog posts and press releases online. I felt that I could still improve my writing and editing skills, though, and this drive to achieve excellence led me to complete my Master of Writing and Publishing at RMIT.
I researched RMIT extensively and found that the University is multicultural, staff are easy to approach and you get hands-on experience of the publishing industry. The lecturers are professional and have decades of experience in the field, and they offer valuable, practical advice on how to overcome challenges as a writer, editor and publisher.

The highlight of my studies was the chance to work with SEEK Ltd on an industry-sponsored project. It was an excellent way to get the look and feel of the industry before actually starting to work in it.
There is the option to choose from a range of electives or take a specialisation. The specialisations are relatively harder compared to the electives so if you want to make your masters more challenging then choose a specialisation.

Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary) Teacher, Royal Children’s Hospital
I never thought there were opportunities to work as a teacher in such unique learning environments. It came as a surprise to me to be able to work as a teacher at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
It’s been an absolute joy to work at the hospital and assist in a small way that creates an environment where the children feel normal in a very abnormal situation.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been attracted to the world of tech – especially any and all things computer related – so I showed up with a relentless desire to learn and make a difference in the world. It’s a career path I’m passionate about and RMIT has made sure I’m surrounded by passionate people.
It’s not uncommon to see me studying at odd hours of the night in many of RMIT’s lab facilities. I spend so much time in them it’s almost as if it’s my second home! That’s what happens when you love your course and your university provides the facilities that let you immerse yourself completely.

RMIT environment and sustainability programs empower students to create a greener, more sustainable world. RMIT offers a diverse range of programs that explore different aspects of environment and sustainability.
Through specialised projects and research, you’ll work with industry leaders and academic experts to find solutions to environment and sustainability issues around the globe.
Industry and community partnerships
Partnerships with industry, government and communities around the world provide opportunities to explore issues both locally and internationally.
Multidisciplinary
A multidisciplinary approach replicates industry and gives you the opportunity to collaborate with students from other areas. Work placements and industry projects give you the chance to make a positive impact on an international scale.
Practical projects
Many programs include hands-on experience through field studies and excursions, conducted in association with industry, government and environmental agencies.
Designed to reflect industry, they provide the opportunity to collaborate with students from other areas through study tours to places including Vietnam and China.
Temitope Adebowale, NigeriaMaster of Engineering (Environmental Engineering)
When I was looking for universities in Australia offering a masters degree in environmental engineering, RMIT stood out with some exciting courses such as water treatment engineering and advanced technologies for wastewater reclamation infrastructure.
Case studies used for projects in class help simulate industry experience as they are real-world problems. An example includes working on the optimisation of the wastewater treatment plant at Werribee.
These subjects and experience all relate to the career path I hope to follow, and contribute to my aims of improving the environment in my country.
Lizard Island field project and Vietnam project
RMIT students have the opportunity to undertake practical field work at the Lizard Island Research Station, 270 kilometres north of Cairns. Students get the opportunity to learn how to conduct surveys in real-life conditions, by collecting data, identifying species, and monitoring environmental changes.
Final year environment students can take a two-week intensive field research project in Vietnam where they investigate urban development and provide sustainability recommendations to local non-profit organisations and government agencies.

Rankings
Abdullah Aloniadeel, Saudi ArabiaMaster of Laboratory Medicine
Outside of Australia, RMIT has a very strong reputation as one of the best universities to study Laboratory Medicine. The facilities at RMIT, such as libraries, laboratories, microscopes and study rooms, are second to none.
I particularly enjoyed studying the Transfusion and Transplantation Science course in the program where we got to learn about the risk factors that threaten the donation process and how we can overcome them – it is a challenging field.
RMIT health and biomedical sciences students learn how to best help others in a professional, practical and high-tech environment from day one.
Whether you’re learning in anatomy labs, nursing wards, nuclear medicine workstations or on sports fields, our equipment and facilities are purpose-built for your study requirements.
Professional accreditation
Many of RMIT’s health and biomedical sciences programs are recognised by peak bodies.
Chinese medicine, chiropractic, medical radiations, nursing, osteopathy, pharmacy and psychology programs are accredited by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the relevant national bodies.
Laboratory medicine programs are accredited with the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists and the Institute of Biomedical Science in the United Kingdom.
The exercise and sports science degree is accredited by Exercise and Sport Science Australia.
Industry-connected
Work placement is an integral part of many of the health and biomedical sciences programs, allowing you to gain experience as a confident professional before you graduate.
Programs are developed in collaboration with industry and professional bodies. Industry advisory committees, made up of experts who are working in the industry, actively contribute to the development and ongoing relevance of RMIT’s health and biomedical sciences programs.
Dedicated campus
RMIT’s Bundoora campus west is focused on health and biomedical sciences, allowing you to immerse yourself in a professional community from the very start of your studies.
Facilities replicate real-life environments, so you’ll be prepared for industry placements. There’s also a strong focus on mentoring and small-group learning, with supportive staff on hand to give you plenty of one-on-one feedback.

Festival Godwin Boateng, GhanaPhD (Global, Urban and Social Studies)
When I was completing my Master of Science (MSc), I became deeply concerned about the human and economic costs that followed building collapses in Ghana. I found that structural failure is an under-researched area in Ghana, and most of the inquiries were skewed towards technical explanations. With my interdisciplinary background, I suspected that there could be more to the problem.
I saw RMIT Global Cities Research Institute’s Human Security and Disasters in Cities program, and it became clear that my research aligns well with the program’s focus, and I would receive exceptional supervision to conduct my research.
I’m hopeful that my study will provide a better understanding of how building collapse incidents emerge from the socioeconomic, cultural and institutional forces underpinning the design, construction, utilisation and adaptation of buildings in cities.

Vinaya Chaphekra, IndiaMaster of Biotechnology
Laboratory Technician at Clinpath Laboratories
The Master of Biotechnology at RMIT offered an excellent course structure and in my last semester I completed a six-month intensive internship at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in the Department of Allergy and Immunology.
Through this internship, I gained experience in lung function measurement, models of lung inflammation, image analysis and assay optimisation. I also managed to become proficient in reading and understanding scientific literature and data analysis.
My studies at RMIT enabled me to gain theoretical knowledge, practical skills and the confidence to work in any kind of lab.

Jose Joaquin Martinez, Mexico
I chose RMIT because of its great game design and animation program.
What I like best about studying here is the University’s professors and their teaching method. They understand students’ difficulties, and apply a practical approach and exercises to help us come up with solutions to problems.
Coming to RMIT in Melbourne has also made me more confident to travel and work anywhere in the world.
