•  Truck parks quality of services and security of facilities are evaluated and a number of “padlocks” are credited accordingly.

•  ESPORG can evaluate truck parks using an assessment for suppliers which can be filled out using ETP data about services offered.

•  Moreover we can manage the Self-Assesment for the truck park to give them till the 2 padlocks, and also we can manage the 3, 4 and 5 padlocks certification booking the auditor appointment, sharing documents, and other of interest.

ETP European Truck Park

INTRODUCTION

•  The main goal of EuropeanTruckPark App (following ETP) is to handle demand for truck parking services through a common and simple platform that enables suppliers and consumers to share information and manage the delivery process end-to-end (from travel planning, to services booking and payment).

•  Lorry companies plan truck trips in all UE countries and, necessarily, needs to buy truck related services such as parking, refueling, drivers hotel accommodation and so on.

•  On the other hands, truck parks companies looks to find new sales channels for their services.

•  ETP allows to satisfy all this needs with a single and direct platform.

•  The goal is to provide a new platform shared between all the actors involved that allow cooperative delivery process bound to a truck trip to be carried out.

INTRODUCTION

•  Due to information gathered by truck trip planning and services delivered, other ETP possible goals are:

•  Collect information to fill customer satisfaction assessment about quality of services and security of truck parks members of ESPORG.

•  Lorry companies could use ETP to plan truck trips.

•  The trip specify the route, the starting date/time and the estimated arrival date/time, and the stops planned along the way. Stops are planned to specific truck parks.

•  To plan a stop, lorry companies managers are interested to verify status for needed services (such as parking into equipped stall, overnight stays accommodation, dinners, …), book them and check the status of reservations, pay with a simple transaction, get bills.

Truck Park Managers

•  A truck park company commonly manage the “park” facility that group together a set of commercial operators (such as hotels, restaurants, garages, gas stations, …). In some cases the truck park company is a commercial operator itself for some other services (such as parking areas).

•  ETP aim to give lorry companies a single view of all services within a truck park regardless about single operators involved.

•  When a truck park company subscribe to ETP platform it should define all service offered and can delegate each single service to a particular supplier.

Suppliers

•  Such players are involved to manage and delivery services about some truck parks offerings. Depending on the detail of the service offered, suppliers can manage service status, booking, buying and billing operations.

•  To do this, ETP will provide a “back office” section reserved to suppliers where they can manage all such operations. In addition, to allow real-time B2B integration with their own management systems, a set of integration APIs will be provided

Truck Drivers

•  When a planned truck trip begins, lorry companies managers should assign it to one or more drivers.

•  Drivers can get information about planned route, stops and reserved services.

•  Using a mobile device, drivers, can access reserved services in a simple way since suppliers can share the same information about planned stop, truck tracking, and vehicle information (such as car plate number, dimensions, …).

•  However, drivers could buy services by himself that were initially not considered.

•  This could happen because drivers must change the predefined route due to an unexpected event or because they want to buy something for themselves.

Sponsor

•  Sponsors are interested to promote their products to lorry companies and drivers taking advantage of new sales channels related to truck park services.

•  In this situation they make a deal with suppliers and use ETP platform for advertisement, promotion, coupons and entice customers to buy their products.

Goods Manufacturer

•  A truck trip is planned typically for goods transportation to dealers. •  Dealers could be interested in tracking the trip and receive

notifications when a vehicle is approaching its final destination.

•  ETP collects tracking information for lorry companies and can notify also dealers when the truck is arriving to its final destination in a simple and transparent way for lorry companies.

High level functions: truck parking companies and suppliers

•  The starting point is the census of truck parking within the UE motorway network.

•  To subscribe ETP platform, truck park managers must provide some information about the facilities, such as: •  General information (name, location, contact information, …); •  Geographic information (longitude and latitude for georeferential

searches);

•  Such information are needed to the following purposes: •  Create a “TruckPark” entity to provide service offering and define

suppliers to manage them; •  Show truck parks available along a route to lorry company’s

managers and the set of service offered; •  Entry point for book and buy required services for a planned stop.

•  ETP allow truck park companies to set a list of available services (e.g. truck parking, refueling, garage, security services, hotel accommodation, restaurant, Wi-Fi connection, …).

•  A truck park manager can set if a service is present or not and the suppliers that manage such service.

•  Since ETP is B2B oriented, a different levels of management and integration tools will be supplied.

•  For example, the parking service, could be structures as follow depending the suppliers capabilities: •  Give the total number of stall (possibly by type); •  Give the number of free stall at the moment; •  Give the number of free stall and on-line booking capability

High level functions: planning a truck trip

•  Once registered, lorry company’s managers can plan truck trips from a starting point at a given date/time to a destination point.

•  ETP allow managers to show and modify the proposed route and store it for further operations associated to a calculated “Trip ID”.

•  Before the trip begin, lorry company’s manager can assign drivers to the trip. In this way he share the information about the trip with the drivers and authorize them for operating with it.

•  Drivers can also set the car plate and other vehicle information in order to inform external system (e.g. tooling systems based on PNR technology) about company owner to charge for any additional costs (i.e. tolls).

High level functions: booking and buy services

•  While planning a truck trip, lorry company’s managers can take a look to the truck park along the route.

•  For each truck park, ETP shows all the general information and the services available.

•  The lorry company’s managers can book services and pay for them in a single transaction using one of the payment methods allowed by ETP platform.

•  ETP platform splits the transaction into payment orders for each supplier passing it also the billing address from information supplied by lorry company at registration time.

•  ETP has a proper system of payment, but also we integrate other system of payment, like Fuel Card, Snap Account, and others.

High level functions: B2B and B2C integration

•  Suppliers or lorry companies operations are often supported by a proper “resource planning” system.

•  Most of such system will provide “API” using some “de facto” standard to interact with other systems.

•  This is the case of most hotel management systems that interact with on-line booking operators using “booking.com” apis.

•  Similar api are provided for restaurant reservation (e.g. OpenTable), parking reservation (e.g. ParkWhiz).

•  In Europe, Datex II is an initiative to create a standard protocol for exchange traffic and travel information.

•  To simplify B2B integration between ETP and such system, a set of api will be provided for the most commons api.

Ways of interaction

•  ETP platform will implement a web portal to enable lorry company’s managers, truck park managers and suppliers access to functions.

•  The web portal will be accessible using a normal browser from PC, rather than notebook o tablet connected to Internet.

•  A subset of portal’s operations will be available for drivers using smaller devices such as smartphones. Those apps will also implement special functions available during the trip such as real-time notification about traffic, weather, reservat ion status and send tracking information to ETP central server using GPS coordinates.

Public site

•  Unregistered users can browser some ETP portal public web pages. The public site will show the list of truck park and a subset of information.

•  The goal of the public site is give potential users some ideas of the system’s functionality, and use it as showcase for ongoing promotional activities.

•  For those reasons, the public site will allow to plan a trip limited to route definition and get the list of truck park along it and the service available. No booking nor buying is possible but the user will be forwarded to a page that explains the terms of service before registration.

Truck park and related services management

•  The truck park’s managers can subscribe to the platform. •  Once it is verified that the requesting subject is really the stated truck

park’s manager, a set of credentials is sent him for further access.

•  The user can manage generic information about the truck park and manage the offered services.

•  The generic information are related to business name, location and other contact information such as links to sites, telephone numbers, fax, emails …

•  The services management require the user to specify which of them are available and can delegate some of them to a different user that act as supplier.

•  ETP gives the suppliers the ability to configure how to manage the service based on its own capabilities.

•  For example a parking service could be managed simply given the number of parking stalls by type (e.g. car, truck, availability of electric connections, …); or update the number of available stall real-time interacting with a proper external system, or enable online booking. Finally if it is possible for ETP to calculate the fare of the service, enable on line payment for buying a service.

Trip management

•  The lorry company’s managers can subscribe the ETP platform giving the company information.

•  Once the company information are verified, a credential is sent to allow further access and starting trip planning.

•  A trip is a route initially defined by starting and destination points and subsequently modified by managers at will.

•  A trip is kept in ETP database bounded to the lorry company with a unique identifier that will be used in the platform for buying services and billing.

Service booking and buying

•  The lorry company’s manager can plan stops to some truck park along the route.

•  If online booking and payment for truck parking services are available, he can request booking for services and put them in a electronic shopping basket.

•  When the planning is complete he can pay for requested services with a single transaction using one of ETP payments platform available.

•  The payment platform is responsible to split the amount to suppliers and send them billing information.

•  Before starting the trip the lorry company manager would assign the trip to a driver.

•  This allow the driver to manage the trip and set some useful information about the vehicle such as the car plate number.
