Notes:-

Reliance Telephone Company was the private systems supply and rental subsiduary of GEC Tele-communications Ltd.

The name 'Gecophone' is given to a variety of instruments by GEC however the definitive Geco-phone is generally considered to be that shown in fig 8-01.

A lot of GEC equipment seems to bear the legend 'WHEN RE-ORDERING PLEASE QUOTE' followed by aserial number. This could be useful in identifying an instrument.

Tropical Versions of the 248 and 706 are available. The 248 Tropical has less slender cradleassembly which actually covers the 'neck' of the body under which there are holes drilled toallow an air flow through the instrument. The 706 tropical has a chrome plated metal insertwhere the dummy button would be. This also has holes in to allow air flow through the instru-ment.
