How SB6 WorksHow SB6 Works United Way convenes community leaders to

determine the issues and develop solutions. The community is mobilized to take action

and deliver results. Efforts are focused on:

• Increasing awareness about early childhood growth and development

• Improving access to critical health and human services while advocating for policy that supports all children.

the key to being effective is not to wait for families to come to us, but instead to go to them.

Making It HappenMaking It Happen The School Board of

DeSoto County located a bus and began renovations.

We now have a family-friendly, air-conditioned, fully outfitted bus with a range of learning materials and resources.

Funding Funding Much of this has been made possible through

generous contributions by the Bank of America Foundation, which granted more than $78,000 to the project.

$12,000 in 2001; $46,000 in 2002; and an additional $20,000 in 2003.

Bank of America is committed to kids.

Off and RunningOff and Running

Beginning in October 2002 the bus began making regular stops at childcare centers, local schools, churches and area businesses.
