A Sad Farewell and a Big Transition at Redeemer.

With great sadness we announced a major transition at Redeemer during worship on September 29th. Two months ago, Pastor Dieula let our church Council know that she felt it was the right time to finish her service here at Redeemer. While none of us in leadership were excited to hear the news, we understood that nothing this side of heaven is permanent, and that God has some great things ahead for Pastor Dieula. With this news comes a major transition at Redeemer as well. With two staff positions now open, our church Council has prayed and discussed the possibility of combining these two positions into one full-time position beginning in 2020. A potential position would have

Hello, fellow Redeemer Covenant Church members! It’s Randy, your Financial Secretary and I’m here to share with you a report on the financial health of our church. First, the scary news: for most of the year, giving has been at or below what has been expected, except for February, in which

we had both an extra Sunday and particularly generous giving.

The situation is not as dire as it sounds, though! Actual general fund spending for the year is under projected spending by an amount that nearly matches the deficit in general fund giving. This is due to the ongoing search for a youth pastor,

Council Corner (continued from page 1) staff brings to our church. This year is on track to hold steady for giving, marking a change from the slightly downward trend in giving from the previous years. Praise the Lord!

Budgeting for next year is coming up quickly. Because our giving and spending have remained steady, I expect next year’s

budget to look much like this year. Of course, there is still a quarter of the year left and budgeting is a committee effort, so we will see what the Lord has in store for us. God entrusts us to give to His cause, and to be good stewards with the blessings He has given us, financial and otherwise. God bless and thank you all for what you give to the church, and for entrusting me with the stewardship of those gifts. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Randolph.clark55 (at) yahoo.com, or pull me aside when you see me at church!

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’” – Matthew 25:21

- Randy Clark

followed by below-expected spending in a few ministry areas. Further, we received a generous stock gift early in the year that was converted, as per policy, into funds for the general budget, which we did not count as part of normal tithing.

Here are some key facts regarding designated giving this year: our church family gave $4,323.91 to the Youth Fund, helping youth get to camp! Additionally, $1,654.07 was given to the Back-to-School Fund (formerly Hearts and Soles), helping students in our community, and $2,109.11 was given to the Benevolence/Crisis Relief Fund, which helps community members in tough situations to make ends meet.

We strive to maintain about two months’ worth of expenses in cash to cover variabilities in contributions and emergency expenses requiring cash payments. While the 2019 budget marked a 3%-5% decrease in overall spending from the 2017 budget, it reflected our efforts in matching spending to giving. We did not, however, cut staff spending but rather approved small raises to reward the outstanding service, hard work, and dedication our

We are Thankful for Our Pastors and Staff!

October is officially Pastor Appreciation Month, a time when we at Redeemer like to make an extra effort to let our pastors and staff know how much we appreciate them. We are blessed with committed, talented leaders; we don’t want to take them for granted! They are: Pastor Mark Mohrweis Associate Pastor Dieula Previlon Music Director Cassie Watson Office Administrator Lori Vriend You might consider sending each of them a personal note, card, or email expressing your appreciation. It would be good, too, if we could all commit to praying more often

for our pastors and staff in October. You’ll also find special envelopes in the Sunday bulletins during October to collect monetary donations to show our thanks. (Make checks out to Redeemer Covenant Church and write “pastor appreciation” on the memo line.)

God has blessed Redeemer beyond measure with Mark, Dieula, Cassie, and Lori. They joyfully pour themselves into serving the Redeemer family, well beyond what is expected and well beyond what they are paid for. Please pray about what you can do to show your thanks!
