PASTOR’S MESSAGE

Brothers and Sisters: One of the highlights of my ministry as a priest is the opportunity to interact with children. To me they are not only precious in every way but also help keep things in perspective, when I am lost or simply preoccu-pied with different things, their presence makes me think of God, especially Jesus's words, let the children come to me because they belong to the Kingdom. We are grateful to God for the gift of children here at St. John the Baptist. They make us feel like a young Church. Some of them wrote me this week. "Thank you, Father John for being here and baptize me when I was 5 and blessing crousafic”…”thank you Father John for planning funerals and many more important things”...”gracias por todo i bendecir a las personas que están enfermos”...”thank you for being the priest and leading the church and for teaching me at the church”...”thank you so much for duing what you do you are what kepps this Church going”...”thank you Father John you have teached me so much about god and Jesues and I am so grateful you have everyone at the church is so garteful You are our Father”…”thank you for being there for other people and being a

Uno de los aspectos más destacados de mi ministerio como sacerdote es la oportunidad de interactuar con los niños. Para mí no solo son preciosos en todos los sentidos, sino que también ayudan a mantener las cosas en perspectiva, cuando estoy perdido o simplemente pre-ocupado por diferentes cosas, su presencia me hace pensar en Dios, especialmente en las palabras de Jesús, que los niños vengan a mí porque pertenecen al Reino. Impostor priest email/texting scams With the holidays approaching, there is an increase in reports of fraudulent email solicitations for

financial support, usually in the form of gift cards. These reports are coming from email accounts or text messages identifying as Archdioce-

san priests. To minimize fraudulent impact, pastors are encouraged to remind their membership that priests/churches would never make

such appeals to the parish community. Please notify the church office immediately if they receive any unfamiliar donation requests.

Cardinal DiNardo has written a letter to the faithful regarding the upcoming Synod for dioceses around the world. A synod is a conversation about who and what we are and what our experiences are. And that’s what we’re going to try to do in some intelligent, methodical form in the

next few months. What comes out, interestingly enough, as the Holy Father has said, is that if we discern, genuinely discern, first starting at the

level of local churches, then getting larger and larger, we’ll find out God is speaking to His Church. The Lord Jesus is helping His Church to un-derstand His life and our life for the life of the world.
